Gambit - 50 050| Eruption!
“What are you doing here?!” the princess approached Quartz. Her face was angered by his decision to arrive.
“Saving Sacchi for the future generation, like what you, your father, and the queen wants. Sometimes, war is not the answer.” Quartz replied back.
The princess then leaves him, walking back to the battlefield as the war continues to enrage. No one really cares about their arrival, nor do the kings of their respective kingdom care at all. A minor interruption was able to gather a whole crowd however.
In front of the eyes of Quartz and Virgo, a lot of men are being slaughtered while the red bird watches over the tree. Another tear falls of its eyes, landing on the ground of the once battlefield blossoming with flowers aplenty, now a desert of destruction and chaos. The sadness of the red bird is its albatross. It lays like dirty snow over every other emotion, greying its spirit, tainting all that could bring it joy and relief.
Above, the bloody rain trickles unto the skin of the maiden and the young man. This was not normal for this was Sacchi’s first time to experience this kind of moment. The clouds were still painted in a red color. The more blood that drops to the floor, the darker the red pigment of the clouds become.
Technically, since Quartz and Virgo interrupted the battle, it was safe to assume that they’re part of it as well. From behind Virgo, a troll comes by in which luckily Quartz saw. With the swing of his sword given by Melchior, he cuts the legs and disables the foe. He then pokes the brain, ensuring death to the beast that tried to attack Virgo.
“Are you alright?” Quartz queries.
“Y-yes. I think it was a bad decision to do this. I- I can’t let you fight against Darian, he is too powerful. My energy is low; therefore, I may not heal you.” Virgo grabs hold of Quartz’s collar and forces him to stay by her side.
“No one would listen-”
“For all of them have the same cry, the cry of war but if you were to change things and sound another cry, then that would gather their attention right?” Virgo hunches.
“Perhaps you have a point but what?”
“Look.” Virgo responds by pointing at Quartz’s piccolo. An idea snapped in their mind, a brilliant and excellent one. A piccolo and an ocarina? It was quite unusual for one to use music as a weapon in battling but hey? Wars can be fought with books and pens as so as melody and artistry.
Amidst the war that continues to puncture anyone’s soul, the maiden and the young man plays and subtle yet soothing melody. The music soars through the air like an eagle on an up-draft, taking with it the very souls of the fighting men.
They ascend together in a magical flight to the heavens, a breathtaking melody of instrumental exuberance. Then after the crescendo they dive back down, giddy, their breath stolen from their bodies, until all that was left was the silence there was at the beginning. It was a shared journey that held them spellbound in rapt silence.
The people enjoyed the music. It brought a somewhat short-term of happiness and those who heard it were filled with ecstasy. The king, the princess, and the other officials however, thought of this an absurd act for who would play a tranquil song in the middle of a chaotic war?
Then, the people looked to them, finally paying their attention for what the maiden and the young man had to say.
