Game In Middle Earth - Chapter 23.
Three months had passed quickly for Aldarion following this routine since he arrived at Tower Hills and had achieved very good results.
Aldarion passed the Government examination imposed by Cirdan. The examination consisted of practical cases in which Cirdan posed problems that could arise when managing a city and Aldarion was able to pass the test without any problem.
After passing the exam the system notification rang in his head.
“Ding! System notification: Congratulations, the user has managed to pass the government exam demonstrating their abilities to administer a kingdom. Rewards: +500 experience points, +10 reputation points.”
Then he tried to pass the test for the singing test but, contrary to his expectations, he could not overcome it. Therefore, Aldarion continued to receive lessons on singing to this day.
Once passed the government exam he started his Strategy classes and in these he proved to be an innate genius of the strategy. King Cirdan had no choice but to admit it.
Although he could certainly be considered a natural genius, he still received strategy lessons because he had to learn many things.
As for his fencing and archery classes, both ended up paying off. His abilities increased to ‘C’ and ‘D’ rank respectively. What Feladrias told him about his talent was reflected in the increase of his abilities.
At this time when he faced Feladrias he was still no match for him, but Aldarion managed to keep pace with his classes and even managed to counterattack in many situations.
It was no longer evident when he was going to make a feint, he managed to control his breathing well, his footwork had improved a lot and he did not leave so many openings.
In addition to these changes, Aldarion discovered that by reading many books in the library, his level of compression gradually increased to five points. Also, certain books increased their attributes of Command, Intelligence and Politics in five, four and six respectively.
Today Aldarion had decided to present both his Strategy test and the Singing test.
The Strategy exam was very similar to the Government exam. Both consisted of practical cases, the difference being that in the Strategy review, the practical cases consisted of certain battles and how they would resolve them in the most effective way.
Aldarion did not have any problem in passing the test and this did not surprise Cirdan at all.
“Ding! System notification: Congratulations, the user has managed to pass the Strategy exam demonstrating their abilities to lead an army and emerge victorious in their battles. Rewards: +500 experience points, +10 reputation points.”
Aldarion was very happy, he had managed to take a step further in the mission. The problem came next.
Aldarion was presented for the second time to the examination of singing. He did not want to admit it, but he was very nervous. He had already failed once in this test and that had led him to realize that it was the area where he lacked the most talent and therefore was the most difficult test for him.
The exam consisted of singing a song. That song had to convey certain feelings to Cirdan when he heard it, that is, when he sang it, Aldarion created magic.
The first time he tried, he selected a song that the King taught him so he hopes to be able to pass the test, but Cirdan told him that he could not understand the song, so he did not create magic.
This time Aldarion had all the hopes put in a song that he came to remember due to a dream that he began to have for a week. I say remember because it is the same song that Aragorn sang the day of his coronation.
After a week of dreaming about the song and of having been meditating on it, Aldarion was convinced that this time he had chosen well and if that would work.
“It’s okay, Aldarion. The test begins.” Cirdan indicated.
Aldarion stood in front of Cirdan, closed his eyes, concentrated on the lyrics, inspired and…
“Et Erello
Endorenna utlien.
Sinome maruvan
Ar Hildinyar
Tenn` Ambar-metta.”
(Out of the Great Sea
To Middle-earth I am come.
In this place I will abide,
And my heirs,
Unto the ending of the world)
The song was very brief, but Cirdan, even with all the years he has, was moved. Although, Cirdan is not a man descended from Nmenor, he managed to receive the hope and moral uplift that the song created.
The song was an oath made by Elendil, father of Isildur from which Aldarion descends. The oath was pronounced upon arriving in Middle-Earth after having died from the sinking of Nmenor under the seas. With these words he inspired the survivors of his people to grow and take root in his new kingdom.
The silence was made after Aldarion finished singing. The man opened his eyes and saw Cirdan saying nothing and simply watching him as if he were thinking about something.
Time passed and every second made Aldarion feel increasingly nervous. He was about to say something when the Elf King started talking.
“You have certainly passed the test.” He said.
“Then, why did you have to think so much, my lord?” Aldarion asked him.
“It’s just funny that you chose that song. They are powerful words, especially for your people, but you have come to understand them in depth. You’ve even managed to influence me.” Cirdan explained ti him quietly.
“Thank you for your compliments, my lord.”
“It is my duty to admit the truths. You have finished the tests successfully. Now go eat, it’s almost time. We’ll talk about your future later.”
Aldarion was very happy and went to his room repressing the desire to scream to heaven his achievement.
For the moment he managed to repress himself and waited to tell Erumre how he had passed the two tests. In addition, to recreate with the compliments that Cirdan had dedicated to him about his song. – ‘Maybe, even he could sing it to her, that way he could get to influence her to the best.’ – He thought.
“Ding! Notification of the system: Congratulations, the user has managed to pass the Art exam demonstrating their abilities to influence the hearts of people with their singing. Rewards: +500 experience points, +10 reputation points.”
Aldarion was delighted to see the rewards for passing the exams but he did not understand why he did not receive the notice of having completed the mission. – ‘Well, it will be a matter of time’ – He thought.
While Aldarion was leaving the library and rejoicing at his triumph, Elven King Cirdan was still meditating on Aldarion and his song. – ‘That he has understood those words up to this point… I think I really have not been wrong with him.’
