Game In Middle Earth - Chapter 40.
It had been a while since Aldarion and his rangers left the camp. So far, they had been moving very slowly, noiselessly and with bows and swords ready. In short, with great caution. Every time they heard a noise, they stopped and they confirmed that it was not the enemy.
At a certain moment, Aldarion and Duihir stopped. – “We should have already met with the sentries of King Azaghl”. – Aldarion said with concern, but in a low voice so they would not be heard. To begin with, he did not want to give away their position to the enemy, and he did not want to worry his men either.
“Yes… there is a lot of silence… too much I would say”. – Duihir answered while looking around.
“Men, we will stop here. Divide into groups of ten and you explore the surroundings. If you see the enemy, you immediately return and inform”. – Without thinking twice, Aldarion gave the order and the men set off.
‘We have been very careful, but even so, we have not seen them. How could we let them escape us? – Aldarion thought.
It was not long before the rangers came back to report. – “My lord, we have found a group of about two hundred enemies a kilometer away from here, in a northwest direction. Now they are resting after what seemed to be a battle”.
“If that’s true, that means the sentries are already dead and they could not send the signal… Quick, gather everyone. If we hurry, we can ambush them”. – Quickly, Aldarion started. Duihir and the rangers followed him closely.
It did not take long to get where the group of enemies was. Aldarion observed them and realized that they were very relaxed, so the moment was really propitious.
“Come on, go around them and get ready. At my signal, unleash hell”. – Without wasting time, the Rangers knew where they should be.
In a short time, the rangers were already located and, when they were ready, they began to imitate bird sounds to tell Aldarion.
for visiting.
Aldarion prepared his bow and looked for the best goal he could find. Thinking about extending the long-range ambush as long as possible, he looked for the soldiers who were on guard and, therefore, that would take less time to react.
Quickly, Aldarion found a sentry and shot him. The arrow pierced his neck, killing him instantly, and, almost without giving him time to fall to the ground, another sentry was hit by another arrow.
The rangers watched as Aldarion killed an enemy soldier, and in that instant, they began to shoot arrows at the enemy.
The enemy soldiers took a long time to react to the attack, so much so that when they managed to regroup and put themselves in formation, they had already lost more than a third of the two hundred soldiers that made up the group.
When Aldarion saw that they had managed to form, he ordered the attack stopped. If they fired now, they would only get to waste arrows, they did not have infinite arrows. They would have to wait for an opportunity…
…
‘What is this? How is it possible? Only a few minutes ago, we were resting’. – A soldier of Adrin was talking to himself in his head. – ‘We were supposed to make a surprise attack on the rear of the right flank, which would give us an opportunity to win, but right now many of our comrades have died’.
‘Captain Ruldrick has managed to reorganize us, but we do not know where they are, they seem to be everywhere and they seem to be many’. – The soldier could not stop panicking.
Like him, all the soldiers were scared, they looked in all directions, but they could not see anything.
“Captain Ruldrick, my lord. What should we do? We retired?” – The soldier, who was standing next to his captain, could not help asking. That doubt was in the minds of all the soldiers, even the captain’s.
But Ruldrick, who was already angry because of the enemy ambush, was much more angry when he heard the word ‘retreat’.
“Do not even think of saying that word in my presence!” – He roared. – “Join your shields and do not separate, sacks of fleas. We will march united towards the front. You do not get scared of a few arrows, they must have run out of arrows, because they have not fired again”.
At that moment a soldier spoke. – “The captain is right, why would they have stopped firing then?”
“It is true. Besides, they should not be many, but they would have attacked us, instead they keep hiding from us, they are cowards”. – Said another soldier.
“Yes, it’s true, they’re cowards”.
Little by little, all the soldiers began to recover their morale and the captain ordered to start moving forward.
‘Yes! We are more, there is nothing to fear. The captain is right, while we are together, we have nothing to fear’. – The soldier convinced himself, but they had not advanced much, when an arrow pierced the captain’s head, killing him on the spot.
…
Since they stopped firing, Aldarion had been watching the group of soldiers and, as they spoke and gave each other hope, Aldarion began to smile.
This was exactly what Aldarion wanted. he wanted them to trust and they relax. Because, the moment they did it, they would start showing openings in the formation and that would give the Aldarion group the opportunity to strike another death blow.
Indeed, Adrin’s soldiers had not advanced much, when Aldarion saw a soldier relax, and he left a gap between the shields that would allow him to kill an enemy. Pointing, Aldarion realized that the soldier he could kill was none other than the one who had organized the enemy soldiers in the first ambush.
‘Today should be my lucky day, but I’m wrong he must be the captain. If I can kill him, the victory will be much faster than I expected…’ – Aldarion pointed to the captain’s head. He had to kill him the first time, so he did not have many more goals to choose from.
The shot was very difficult, but he had practiced archery a lot, and even his skill had reached grade (D). Aldarion pointed, he tensed the rope and he fired.
The arrow reached its target and killed the enemy captain. Suddenly, the enemy soldiers stopped, and it was not long before a soldier screamed. – “The captain is dead!”
The soldiers, frightened, began to break the formation and the Rangers, who were elite soldiers, realized the opportunity. The arrows began to rain, once again, on the enemy soldiers. Each shot would kill a soldier.
Soon, Aldarion and the rangers ran out of arrows, but there were still some soldiers. As they did not pose a great threat Aldarion drew his sword and charged towards them to fight hand to hand, and the Rangers imitated him.
These demoralized and frightened soldiers posed no threat to the veteran dunedain. These rangers could fight perfectly against ten of those soldiers each.
The battle did not take long to finish. – “Victoria!” – Aldarion roared as he gasped.
The dunedain began to roar for happiness.
“Brothers!” – Aldarion shouted to get their attention. – “Check the stores in their bodies, if there is anything useful, pick it up. We’re back to the camp!”

Hi guys. I have decided to open a P-a-t-r-e-o-n. I would like to encourage you to donate something, even if it is only 1$.
I’m not going to cheat you, if I make money, I could devote myself more seriously to writing, because I would have fewer worries.
I leave the link below:
https://www.*******.com/sagerwisker (You have to replace the asterisks with p-atreon, without ‘-‘)
I repeat. It is not obligatory for the novel to continue, but it will motivate me more to write it and it will take away a great burden from me.
Thank you so much.
