Game of Apocalypse - Chapter 19 Conspiracy
“What do you mean?” Odin frowned slightly showing his displeasure. Grant’s words were tantamount to saying that the Ground Combat Club’s siblings were using him.
“As far as I know, the Life Emblem is a precious artifact. Even the biggest Wild Dancing Combat Club in the entire university doesn’t have such a powerful artifact. Think about it, will a small club really give you the emblem? It was obvious they’re just using you.” Grant helplessly said.
“I trust them. My goal is to get the Life Emblem, even if I joined your club, will you give me the emblem? If you can’t even give anything, why should I trust you over them?”
Odin was amused, how could it be that easy to sow discord? Grant had no intention of giving any good terms anyway.
Odin’s goal was the Life Emblem. Although it was unknown what it could do, judging from its name, it should be a skill related to life.
The problem he had to resolve right now was how to protect his life from the Black Death Society and the Life Emblem certainly would provide huge assistance for him.
“Does this mean you’re declining our invitation?” Frowning, Grant’s expression turned ugly.
Although he disliked and was unwilling to invite Odin to join his club, he still offered a good deal to Odin. However, Odin still rubbed the delusion of receiving the Life Emblem on his face, this caused Grant to feel disrespected.
“That’s right since you can’t give me the thing I want and the deal you offered to me is unattractive, I think it’s pointless for us to continue the conversation.” Standing up, Odin was prepared to leave.
“Wait!” Grant suddenly called Odin with a smile on his face but it looked horrifying. “Although we failed to reach an agreement, it’s still possible for us to befriend, right? After all, we did have an interaction.” Grant reached his hand showing his intention of shaking Odin’s hand.
Odin raised his brows wondering what Grant was planning. But shaking hands would not cause any loss, it was just superficial goodwill.
With this thought, he reached out and shook Grant’s hand.
“Hahahaha! Great! Great!” Grant even patted Odin’s shoulder.
Odin was stupefied but did not think much of it, soon he turned around and disappeared from Grant and his company’s vision.
Seeing Odin gone far, Grant’s smiling expression was replaced with a ruthless expression. He asked the person standing by his side, “Did the Detroit Ground’s people that we purposely let in see it?”
“Relax, sir. They saw it. We found them snooping around the flowerbeds but as you ordered, we didn’t drive them out.” The speaking person was wearing hanfu with a silver snake embroidered from its sleeve all the way to the chest.
Chuckling, Grant crossed his fingers while placing them on the table. He coldly snorted in his heart while squinting in the direction Odin left. Since Odin refused their invitation, then they would make him nowhere left to return!
……
“Sis! Bro! Something bad happens!” Carna hurriedly headed toward the arena where Carlot and Cardory were.
“What’s wrong? Take it easy.” Cardory stopped practicing her combat skills, staring at the profusely sweating Carna.
“Our club members saw Odin meeting with Silver Snake’s vice-president this morning.” Carna was anxious to the point her voice shrill.
“It’s just a meeting, what’s the deal? Odin’s performance was outstanding, many clubs will surely try to poach him away.” Carlot was puzzled by her sister’s anxiousness.
“Not just that! It’s not that I don’t trust Odin but the club members saw Grant shake his hand and even patted his right shoulder.” Carna told them everything she knew in one go.
Everyone in the Blue Vine University knew when Silver Snake Combat Club was recruiting someone, once one accepted the recruitment, they would shake one’s hand and pat one’s shoulder. This was a unique recruitment ritual of Silver Snake.
“Are you sure the member saw it right?” Cardory expressions turned serious. If it was true then Odin had betrayed them, betrayed the Ground Combat Club.
“Absolutely true! If it was someone else, I may doubt him. Today the five of them were going to pray at God of Death’s church but they saw Odin and wanted to invite him together too. But they saw Odin entering Silver Snake’s lair, so they followed him and saw what I described just now!” Carna was fuming. The siblings had decided to give Odin the Life Emblem but he still betrayed them! Greedy! Disgusting!
“Maybe the Silver Snake gave him an even more attractive deal.” Although Cardory was saying this, her voice was cold, evidently suspecting Odin.
“Carlot! I’ve something to tell you.” Odin, who just returned from Silver Snake, immediately rushed to the Ground Combat Club, wanting to discuss this matter with the siblings. Moreover, he also wished to ask the meaning of Grant’s words about the Life Emblem.
“Tell me what? Telling me you betrayed us and joined Silver Snake?” Exiting the arena, Carlot’s face was full of vigilance. Carna and Cardory, who were behind him, also had anger on their faces.
“How do you know Silver Snake looked for me?” Odin was startled since he had yet to tell them. Besides, what was the meaning of betrayal?
“Heh, so there really is such a thing, huh?” Carlot’s expression was filled with a sarcastic smile. “I even trusted you, who could’ve thought you’ll be a traitor for such slight benefits? What about it, what attractive deals did Silver Snake give you?” Carlot’s tone was cold and he was staring at Odin as if staring at a stranger, the attitude he used to have was gone.
