Gamemaster’s System - Chapter 6 Troubling Npc 006
Adrian logged into his account as Mirror, having the System tell him statistics about progress and the average mood that players had when playing. Pool and Loop, Maria and Marcy, were currently waiting for him at the beginner village.
“You never told us about how your speech was so well calculated~,” Maria casually said. Her sister joined in, “yeah, well thought out.”
“Well, let’s not talk about this for now, let’s start doing some things-” he was caught off as he saw a System notification pop up.
[ Host, an unknown NPC has been generated. System thought NPC to be a glitch, but it seems that NPC was not eradicated and has taken on a rogue AI. System not prepared for situation, Host’s manual assistance needed. ]
He read the text and was confused. The System was one of the most powerful things that he could think of, but clearly it was not powerful enough to interfere itself from not being erased.
‘I think something is out of kilter… System, show me a map of mine and it’s location.’ He was shown a map and saw a large distance between them.
He sighed, “well, Pool and Loop, there’s something I need to handle, go ahead, contact me when everyone’s at level two, I’ll give you experience pots and automatically level you up to stay with the other players.” He waved them goodbye. They were understanding of how sometimes duty calls.
He quickly logged out of his Mirror account and into his Melted Reflection account. He quickly put his System to work and went invisible. Not a single player could see or hear him as he rushed from the teleport gate in the beginning village to the outer village where the NPC was.
It took him about five minutes before coming to an end at a juncture. He realized the NPC was beside a building that was particularly made to be shady.
The Guild of Greed.
He slowly phased through the wall and into the building. He looked around, minimizing his map so it was more effective. He didn’t see the NPC in the room and drifted into another room.
He looked into one of the more secluded rooms and saw an NPC that the map was practically pointing at. He looked at it and sighed. The NPC was in handcuffs with other slaves at the Guild of Greed, a place where sometimes people can buy slaves. Quickly, he transferred ownership from the Guild to his own self.
The NPC that felt a new connection to something looked around confused, as there was no contract happening. Adrian fixed up his cloak and made himself invisible to everyone else except the young NPC before him. Of course, all NPC’s in Wisp of Magic were intelligent, but this NPC was different.
The NPC was surprised. He couldn’t see well in the dark room but could only see a giant dark figure before him.
“Anomaly,” the NPC flinched at the word, “let’s have a chat, shall we?”
Suddenly, an entirely new room was presented. Melted Reflection was sitting down drinking tea at a low table. The NPC was opposite him. The man stared at Adrian who had an air of absolute tranquility. Previously, he looked like a demon of death, but now he looked like an angel, full of life.
“So, how did you end up here, NPC? You clearly weren’t made by anyone I know, since there’s permission to be needed to even create one. I’m curious, did you somehow end up here by mistake or something?”
The NPC looked like it was hesitating for quite a while, but Adrian was patient; “well, I… I am not originally from this world, you see. Mr. Reflection, I am from a world called ‘Ethra’ and died there, having ended up probably reincarnating here by mistake. When I was buying a gaming pod, I died while undoing the packaging.”
A look of deep sorrow reached his eyes as he looked at his own cup of tea, thoroughly saddened, “then, what do you want me to call you?”
“My name was Dominic when I was in Ethra, now the status screen shows it as Darke.”
