Gaming Sword Magician - Chapter 172
After passing through the gateway that suddenly opened beneath his feet, Whittaker found himself in a vast expanse of greenery. As far as his eye could see, lofty trees and oddly shaped bushes were irregularly strewn throughout the area. All around him were trees, bushes, and some plant but the shrieking voice and roars of magical beast could also be heard by him.
“This should be the Evergreen Maze Forest of the tenth floor. Unluckily, I have arrived here. What bad luck! I will have to kill the secret boss before I can even hope of stepping out of this maze and search for the boss in the prairie!” Whittaker said after surveying his surrounding.
The place he got teleported to was a death trap on the tenth floor. A confinement formation was set up in this forest and it’s used to trap a contestant in the forest. The formation effect was to make contestant lose their sense of direction and wander aimlessly within the forest until they are killed by the magical beasts that inhabit this place. He got teleported here because he chose the tenth floor.
Actually, the choice of freely teleporting to any of the first ten floors was a hidden trap set by Jafar. The higher floor a newbie ruler chooses to teleport, the greater the risk of being exposed to danger. If Whittaker has chosen floor 1st then he would have been teleported to a city or human race fortress in the tower but he selected the tenth floor. Hence, the difficulty he is to face was set at the highest level and he got teleported to the most deadliest place on the tenth floor. Here even a group of D-rankers can die.
Death in the tower came with plenty. A contestant will drop his equipment and will undergo a total reset. They will have to start climbing the tower from the 1st floor.
Although this was a deadly place and the chance of dying here was high, Whittaker had come fully prepared.
“I should search for the Three-Clawed Cursive panther but it’s going to be hard to find it in this vast maze-like forest,” Whittaker said while staring at the overgrown bushes and trees around him.
The way to get out of this tower was to obtain the Formation Dispel token from the corpse of the secret boss of this place. The token allows a person to be free from the effect of the formation. The secret boss was the three-clawed cursive panther. However, it rarely shows itself to outsiders and it wasn’t easy to locate it either.
Suddenly, he remembered something. Just like other magical beasts, the secret boss of this forest was also attracted to the blood of humans and magical beasts. “I can lure the secret boss by spilling a lot of blood in the surrounding and letting the blood scent permeate the entire forest. For that, I will need to start a bloodshed and kill a lot of magical beast.”
Buzz* Buzz*
Just as he had spoken those words, an E-ranked giant wasp with a 2-meter copper stinger and a body the size of a football came out from behind the trees and rushed straight at Whittaker. Its stinger was aimed right at his chest.
Whittaker happily summoned Blood drinker and thought while staring at the giant wasp, ‘Think of the devil and it appears! These wasps always comes in a huge group. There should be more heading my way but first, let’s take care of the bug in front of me!”
His eyes suddenly turned vigilant as he took on a battle pose. The wasp came crashing down on him with its copper stinger but he sidestepped and dodged it, and he then instantly brandished his S-ranked sword in a vertical strike to cut off the stinger of the wasp that flew right past him.
The stinger fell making the wasp shriek in anger and it took a U-turn to rush towards Whittaker who slammed his right foot on the ground and at the same time inputted 2 units of battle energy in the same foot. With a booming voice, his body was blasted forward and he reached near the wasp in a single second.
Right then, he cleaved down with the S-ranked sword in his right hand. The sword left a large line in the middle of its body, and in the very next moment, the wasp was split into two clean pieces.
Blood gushed out and it dropped to the ground just a step away from Whittaker who pulled out the advance guide to loot the monster core from the dead wasp. However, a notification was shown on it.
‹Killed a normal E-ranked magical beast. Gained 2 tower credits!›
This was just a normal automated notification from the tower itself. Each time a contestant kills a beast, he receives some tower currency and some type of reward.
The amount of currency rewarded to a contestant depended on the type of beast he killed. There were five types of beast on each floor. Normal beast, Mutated beast, Area boss, Secret Boss, and lastly Floor boss.
The amount of tower currency rewarded to a contestant for killing a beast increases according to the type of beast he kills. Normal F-ranked, E-ranked, and D-ranked beasts give 1-2-3 tower currency respectively. Whereas Mutated ones give double that. Area bosses give triple the amount of currency for mutated beast and the tower currency reward for killing secret boss and floor boss is four times that of area boss.
With a thought, Whittaker commanded the Advance Guide to loot everything useful from the wasp corpse. The orb floated towards the magical beast and produced a mystical absorption force. The wasp heart and beast core was taken out and got absorbed by the orb which floated back to Whittaker. He received a E-ranked beast core and Wind Type beast blood.
“Now I just need to wait for the scent of blood to spread in the surrounding and attract other monsters. Once I kill enough the three-clawed cursive tiger will naturally show itself. I just need to be patient. I should also set up a surprise attack for the upcoming battles!”
