Gaming Sword Magician - Chapter 202
Whittaker took a deep breath, taking a battle stance and beaming his signature smile as he looked towards the Silver-ranked Barbarian charging at him.
Although Sonjuki was surprised to know that the other party has two class weapons, he continued with his initial plan. He planned to make mincemeat out of his opponent.
Bam! After taking six wide steps, battle energy rushed out of Sonjuki feet and exploded beneath his two feet, propelling his body towards the black-haired boy at an insane speed.
Whoosh! Within a single moment, he instantly appeared before Whittaker.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
‘He is just too fast, unbelievably fast,’ Whittaker thought as the murderous silver eyes of the beast flashed before him.
This was the difference between a high-rank battle master and a low-rank battle master. While low-rank battle master can only pour battle energy internally and in the attribute line of their class weapon, the high-rank battle master can discharge battle energy out of their body to perform miraculous feats.
Sonjuki immediately slashed his Silver-Serpent Beheading Ax horizontally at Whittaker.
The Barbarian was a C-rank battle master while he was just at E-rank. He wasn’t stupid enough to have a head-on clash with him, as the other party battle energy exceeded his by hundreds of units.
Therefore, Whittaker hurriedly turned his body to dodge the attack. The Silver-serpent Beheading Ac did not land on Whittaker; it only smashed the ground raising a splash of broken rocks. Furthermore, a wild fury of battle energy gushed out of it.
He used Blood Drinker to block the rocks and tried to land a strike of his own on the Barbarian back, but the battle energy gushing out of the Ax like waves smashed on his sword and pushed him away from the Barbarian.
‘Giving someone a reply is the most basic courtesy,’ Whittaker thought while glaring at the back of Barbarian Sonjuki.
As he was being pushed away by the battle energy, 1000 units of mana vanished from his mana pool and rushed into his palm to create a massive influx of mana that even made Barbarian Sonjuki shudder in fear. He wanted to dodge whatever was coming. However, Barbarians were too slow and without using a burst of battle energy, they can not actually move fast.
He just utilized his movement burst technique and it was currently on cooldown!
[Mana Blast!]
A Blue beam of light shot out from his raised palm directed at Sonjuki back at an unbelievable speed. The barbarian couldn’t even turn around before the mana blast cruelly landed on his back.
BOOM! A resounding reverberation echoed as the blue beam of light expanded on contract and enveloped the Barbarian in a fiery hot explosion.
-80!
-54!!
-60!!!
‘A clean hit! Surprisingly, even mana blast didn’t do much damage. The barbarian magical resistance is just too impressive,’ Whittaker thought as the notifications of Barbarian Sonjuki Health point dropping at a rapid phase continuously rang in his ears.
Gahhhhh! Feeling blood streaming down his back and the scorching heat that burned his skin, Sonjuki widened his mouth and let out an ear-piercing battle cry.
To an average low-rank awakened, this roar would have shaken their soul, causing them to enter a paralyzed state, but Whittaker had used voice dampening talisman on his ears, hence the roar didn’t achieve its intended purpose.
Whoosh! Before Whittaker even knew it, by using battle skill [Berserk Charge], Sonjuki rushed out of the smoke and appeared before him. Raising his Ax, he chopped it down at the young boy, who couldn’t do anything except raise his S-ranked sword, taking the attack head-on.
Peng! The force behind the attack was too much and Whittaker got knocked away. He fell down the cliff and crashed on to the tree far away from the stream.
-20 HP!
He took a lot of damage and felt a painful sensation assaulting his senses, but there was no time to wallow in sadness, as the Barbarian jumped down the cliff and was coming straight towards him.
Gritting his teeth, he stood up. ‘The Barbarian is too strong. I won’t win in a frontal battle. It’s time I try out that strategy,’
Whittaker thought before making a run for it.
During his time in the library, he has studied a lot about various races. He knew that the weakness of the Barbarian is their ugly temper and awful speed. Barbarian battle masters were mere prey before humans experts with a ranged weapon. They can attack from a distance and easily kite barbarians, after all. The way to defeat barbarian battle masters was to “Kite” them through various means until they run out of “Battle Energy”.
Without battle energy, a barbarian was as slow as a snail, and killing them through ranged attack was as easy as eating a small pie.
Nearby, there were numerous large trees that could be used to toy with Barbarian Sonjuki. Whittaker rushed into the greenery. His plan was simple. He will make the barbarian chase after him, causing the barbarian to expand all of its battle energy. When the barbarian is left with little to no battle energy, he will use ranged attacks to put an end to Sonjuki life.
“Puny humans, always running away from the battle at the sight of mere disadvantage,” Barbarian Sonjuki said with a disgruntled expression as he saw Whittaker running away.
“Get ready to die!” To his surprise, accompanied by this shout, another Whittaker rushed out from behind the tree and rushed at him with bare hands. This really was not Whittaker but a clone he summoned to annoy the barbarian and buy some time.
Sonjuki was shocked to see a Whittaker speeding away from him and one speeding towards him. However, he instantly sobered up and decided to kill all of them.
The Barbarian slashed his Ax at the clone, and at the same time, the clone poured all his battle energy into his fist and punched out.
The result was pretty obvious. The weaponless clone was cut into two, exploding into smoke with a puff. Whereas, the Barbarian chased after Whittaker with incredible speed.
He was utilizing several units of battle energy in each step. In mere seconds, Sonjuki caught up to the young black-haired boy and was merely several yards away from him.
“Hehe, he took the bait. Now, I just need to increase my speed and decrease his speed so that this game of mouse and cat will continue until I, the prey gets the chance to become a hunter!” Whittaker said under his breath and took out multiple haste talismans from his rankless ring of genesis.
The effect of the haste talismans could be stacked up to three times but they were less effective with each use. The first one increased Whittaker’s Movement Speed by 100% for 10 minutes. The second Haste Talisman increased his movement spread by 50% while the third one increases his movement speed by 25%. In total, his speed has increased by 175% percent. The Haste talisman was a lifesaving item when out in the wilderness and it was best used to run away from life and death situations.
Even though the Monster Tower was merely a deadly game, he couldn’t afford to die. Otherwise, he would need to start climbing the tower from the first floor. That will waste many weeks and he will fail to impress Elder Zachary.
That’s why Whittaker bought a lot of Haste Talisman just for such occasions.
