Genesis Tale Of Light And Shadow - Chapter 6 Pyxies Disappearance
All that happened about four months ago, back to present time. Our hero was at home alone, worried, lost and not knowing what to do after reporting the incident. To put it bluntly, the only way he could be of help to his little sister was to leave all this kidnapping business to the police. However, he could not just stand still and do nothing, being a helpless teenager, apart from agonizing over her disappearance, he could do nothing.
Meanwhile back at the paranormal investigation bureau, Jay was on the couch, curled up and peacefully taking a nap, he was just like a kitten. While answering to mother nature’s call, Cobb was informed that the police had received yet another report about someone going missing, another lead at last. Almost instantly, not even nearly done with his pee-break,
He ran towards the office and accidentally knocked down the door all the while screaming,
“JAY! We got a lead; a new disappearance has just been reported by my good for nothing nephew.”
Jay practically jumped out of the couch, the moment he heard Cobb say his nephew, it sent shivers down his spine.
“You mean the Devil Kigen? That damned troublemaker, how many problems has he caused us till now, a future convict I’m telling you.” He fired back while anger and fear slowly built up inside.
“Yeah, that’s the one, the devil personified. Let’s pay him a visit, shall we?” Cobb replied while acting cavalier.
While closing in the where Kigen lived, “Should we prank him?” Cobb asked with malicious intent in his eyes.
“Sure,” Jay replied, knowing something was about to go down as Cobb only pulled that smile when he had something devious planned out.
They slowly approached the door, just like predators following their pray, all the while waiting for the perfect moment to pounce. Jay kicked the door open with them both charging inside while shouting “FBI OPEN UP”. Kigen instantly reacted and threw a dart which was lying around his messy couch, narrowly missing Cobb’s head.
“Oh, it’s you uncle. What brings you here?” He greeted and asked as if nothing happened.
“Still very fast I see. We’ve come about the disappearance of a girl named Pyxie Oruki.” He answered with a little stutter.
“Jay, this kid nearly killed me,” Cobb whispered.
“Stare” Jay had the smuggest smile on his face. An instant before the whole FBI thing, he suggested that Cobb should go in first, it would be fun he said.
Upon seeing a friendly face, a dim light of hope sparkled in Kigen’s eyes; he could finally do something about his friend.
They all sat down and discussed the incidents and how they were related.
After an hour of speculation, Cobb was certain that Kigen would not be of any further use and was kindly asked to stand down and mind his own business thus leaving it to the grown-ups, so to speak.
Being left out, he naturally got pissed but somehow managed to hide his anger and keep his cool. Knowing Cobb would most likely keep him in the dark even if it was related to Pyxie,
Kigen knew only one person who would be able to help him, himself.
Cobb left at six pm, Summer didn’t come home either which didn’t bother Kigen in the slightest as he was too busy lost in his thoughts. All the while brainstorming ideas about how he could help Pyxie, he skipped dinner and went to bed.
The next day eventually came, Kigen woke after having only two hours of sleep at most. Even if he wanted to skip school he couldn’t, as attendance was mandatory. Afterward, he headed to school like a zombie and omitted the rendezvous near the cafe. Distraught, he lost track of time and ended up arriving early.
Concurrently, Summer went to check to see if he was still asleep but was surprised to see the house empty. Thinking, he might have left with the others, she reunited with them. Upon rejoining everyone, they realized that Kigen was nowhere to be found. The crew patiently waited for his arrival which ultimately got them late.
Having to run a mini-marathon, the moment they reached school, everyone was flabbergasted to see Kigen already in class looking down at his workbook practically zoned out. The whole crew sat down around him. Still lost in his thoughts, he didn’t notice anything. The class teacher for that period was very strict; everyone was helpless as they could not do anything for the time being. Thinking that he would snap out of it, Summer, Kygo, and Anki continued with the class.
“Briiiing, Briiiing” The period ended, somehow during class, he managed to fall asleep and was now in a deep slumber. Summer was concerned for him but after having had an internal debate with herself, ended up deciding in letting him sleep. Reason being, that he could just be exhausted.
On the other hand, however, Anki didn’t seem to have the same idea, as instead of allowing him his well-deserved nap, he slammed the table which created a disharmonious sound that resounded throughout the classroom. Kigen would have usually woken up infuriated and accompanied with a good serving of insults which he dished out at the top of his lung. This time it seemed like he didn’t care. Not seeing him react, everyone bombarded him with questions which were also accompanied by its fair share of insults. In the end, Kigen gave in and divulged all the information about Pyxie, how she got kidnapped, the recent murders and everything else which got everyone depressed.
“WHAT THE FUCK, aren’t you guys supposed to help and not be depressed with me.” He yelled.
“Welcome back, dumbass.” She retorted back.
Following that, Anki proposed that he could be able to help out as his father was a high-ranking officer, therefore obtaining information would be a piece of cake. That alone was a great help, Kigen thought, but to his amazement, Kygo’s father apparently was someone important in politics. Making it so they could get easy access to anywhere if they so desired without worrying about the consequences.
At that point, Kigen thought that Summer’s parents would also be of high stature, but to an anticlimactic end, she would just help in any way she could. They wrapped up the conversation and named this plan “Pyxie’s rescue.” To which Kigen pointed out that the name was a bit lackluster. Summer countered with, “You’re lackluster, shut up and deal with it. Let’s start the search and rescue already.”
“Guys we are still in class.” Kygo pointed out the obvious.
They all turned towards him and responded with, “FUCK”
