Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle - Chapter 47 Finally!
47 Finally!
Shane took the Random Gift Pack out of his Inventory, curious about what it contained. Then, a box with a question mark on each side appeared in front of him and began to open slowly. Shane felt a surge of excitement, hoping for something useful or valuable. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
[ You have opened a Random Gift Pack. ] [ Congratulations! You have received an Entertainment Gift Pack! ] The box opened fully, revealing its contents. Shane saw a deck of playing cards, a notebook for journaling, a few random books, and a harmonica. Shane felt a wave of disappointment, realizing that he had received the worst possible reward.
“Ugh…” Shane groaned, looking at the items. He had no use for them. He needed weapons, armor, tools, or perhaps some food since he only had bread to feed the people in his estate.
They had no need for Entertainment. He felt like he had wasted his luck.
‘Is this really the 10 Luck Points that I have? Isn’t that a scam?’
However, he knew that it was not anyone’s fault. It was just a random chance, and his Luck stat might be too low to affect it.
Or perhaps the Entertainment Gift Pack was actually one of the best gift packs among the choices. Anyway, he decided to keep all these items in their shelter in case they might come in handy someday.
After that, Shane went back to his work. He had more important things to do. They had to focus on rebuilding the estate. They had to chop more trees, create a wooden fence, set up traps like spikes, and fix their shelter.
Of course, they also needed to take some rest. So, after some quick fixes with their fence, they ate their bread with mayonnaise before taking a rest. Shane also purchased the Single-Sized Bed. Initially, he wanted to give this to Anna as she seemed to be really after the Zombie Wave, and he wanted her to have a good rest. However, Anna refused this and decided to have the sleeping bag instead. As they were about to sleep, Shane recalled to check his current attributes. Survivor Name: Shane Wells Title: A.I. “Oh? I already have 29 Reputation Points?” Shane was a bit surprised after seeing it. He couldn’t help but recall that his Reputation Store was selling three interesting things. One of them was a Dog that could hunt, track, or fetch items. The other one was a Drone that could help him map things out and do reconnaissance tasks, and finally, the Tattoo mark that could guarantee him a Survivor Skill for only 20 Reputation Points.
He was a bit tempted to get this Tattoo mark, but he still had Memory Spheres that could give him skills.
Furthermore, he was previously reminded by the system that he could obtain a Talent Expansion Pack in the Reputation Store!
He didn’t know how much it was, so he had to save as many Reputation Points as he could to purchase it.
‘Right… I can also loot Talent and Survivor Skills… It’s better to get that Expansion Pack instead.’ Shane silently thought as he decided to save his RP for now.
Finally, it was time for bed.
It was good that Cloud or even Lucky could guard them while they were sleeping so they could sleep peacefully. On the next day, everyone woke up early. It was a break for them as there were no zombies around.
Shane gathered everyone and told them his plan to rebuild the estate. During the following three days, they worked hard and efficiently, using their skills and tools. They cleared the area around the estate, cut down the trees, built the fence, dug the holes, planted the spikes, and enlarged the shelter. They also reinforced the windows and doors of the church, added more furniture and storage, and improved the ventilation and lighting.
It was a lengthy process, but the result wasn’t bad.
The church had become their main shelter from now on.
They worked for several hours, taking breaks only to eat and rest. If there were zombies around, they would easily get killed as they were just a bunch of Crawler or Walker Zombies.
It seems that the Apocalypse System had given them a nice break after that Zombie Wave.
During this time, their small group talked and learned things about each other, making the work more enjoyable as they became closer as a team.
“It looks livable now…” Shane commented after seeing the results of their hard work. They finished their work after three days, and Shane was very proud of their results. They had transformed their territory into a more secure and comfortable place. They had a strong and sturdy fence, a spacious and cozy shelter that was previously a church, and a variety of traps and defenses. Although it would still get destroyed by that Giant Zombie, Shane felt more safe and confident…
Shane wanted to celebrate their achievement by having a feast of canned food, but they no longer had them, not a single one.
Instead, he decided to celebrate by doing some entertainment by playing cards, reading books, and listening to the harmonica played by Leo. Shane realized that the items were not so useless after all. It at least helped them relax and have fun, forgetting their troubles and worries for a while.
On the fourth day after the first Zombie Wave, Shane woke up with a huge smile on his face…
Apparently, as soon as he opened the store this time, he finally found the ammunition he needed!
