Godly Talent System - Chapter 61
In a courtyard.
Chen Yu Yang was sitting down in a cross-legged position, slightly floating above the air. His face was tranquil and calm, and his eyes were shut.
Within him, though, were raging currents that he had tried his best to suppress. Long Chen’s growth was far too threatening to him and his position. The 5 Elementary Realm assassins he had sent out had all died.
These 5 assassins were a part of his underground force, and although they weren’t the strongest, but they still possessed quite some strength.
The loss of them had already given him a pain, not to mention the fact that Long Chen was still alive.
A subordinate suddenly went rushing into his courtyard and respectfully bowed, “Young Master, Long Chen is now heading towards the Thousand Monster Forest for his 3 Star mission.”
Chen Yu Yang was rather surprised when he heard that Long Chen had truly taken up the 3 Star mission that he had deliberately given to him.
However, though, this could not relieve the unease within his heart, but further strengthened it, because there could only be one reason why Long Chen would take it up, and it was because he had the confidence to do so.
Just this thought alone was astonishing, because based on what he knew about Long Chen, he was merely a 13 year old.
Although of course, Chen Yu Yang did not feel like Long Chen had a Mid-Stage Elementary Realm cultivation, but rather an Early-Stage Elementary Realm cultivation, with combat power comparable to the Mid-Stage Elementary Realm.
He could not imagine if Long Chen had actually broken through to the Mid-Stage Elementary Realm, because this was too ludicrous.
The fact that he was within the Early-Stage Elementary Realm was ridiculous in its own right, and if not for his sources that had personally confirmed this, along with the 5 dead assassins he had sent, he would never have believed it.
“Good.” Chen Yu Yang opened his eyes and paused to think for a while, before he continued, “Send 5 Late-Stage Elementary Realmand 1 Early-Stage Sky Realm to deal with him.”
The subordinate looked up at Chen Yu Yang with a bit of surprise in his eyes as he spoke haltingly, “But Young Mastera Sky Realm cultivator is already one of our core forces, and the 5 Late-Stage Elementary Realm cultivators are enough to kill off any Inner Disciple within the Sect. Is there a need to have so much vigilance towards a newly promoted Inner Disciple?”
“Are you questioning my orders?” Chen Yu Yang threw a sharp glance towards the subordinate, which left the latter breaking out in cold sweat.
“No…I do not dare.” The subordinate stutteringly said.
Chen Yu Yang withdrew his glance, as he stood up from his cultivating position and took a look outside.
“How could you merely think of him as just a mere Inner Disciple? He had managed to kill of 5 Elementary Realm assassins when he was just an Outer Court Disciple. How strong do you think he can be now? Even if I have to use a boulder to kill off an ant, Long Chen must die!”
Chen Yu Yang abruptly turned his head back to look down at his subordinate, “Immediately dispatch the 6 cultivators. I don’t care what means they use, but they better bring back Long Chen’s head to me!”
The subordinate shifted uncomfortably as he bowed his head yet again, ‘Yes, Young Master.” Then, he nervously scurried away as fast as he could.
——–
As Long Chen’s cultivation increases, so does the range of his senses. How could the person who was hiding in the dark while sending off information elude his eyes?
An evil smile appeared on his face, and as he waved his hands across his face, his entire face features had completely changed.
If you were to notice, even his body had slightly differed to suit that of his face.
Along the way to the Thousand Monsters Forest, Long Chen was constantly using and practicing his Piercing Cloud Movement skill.
As he reached the periphery of the Thousand Monsters Forest, he halted his movements and took a good look at his surroundings.
Like all usual forests, they were packed with dense trees and vegetation, with occasional dead trunks and branches lying about.
The air here was stuffy, with a faint trace of blood, as well as the lingering warmth of the monsters that roamed the region.
Taking a deep breath of the air, he turned his head back to glance at the air behind him, before he stepped into the Thousand Monsters Forest.
The boundaries of the place were mainly inhabited by Grade 1 and 2 Monsters. If it was in the past, he would have raised a portion of his vigilance to survey the area.
But with the increase of his cultivation, these monsters could no longer threaten his existence.
Occasionally, he glimpsed of a few Grade 1 and Grade 2 Monsters as he walked deeper inside the region, and he simply waved out his sword and used either his Soaring Sword or the Shadow Sword while nonchalantly absorbing their talents and raising his skill proficiency.
Although practicing the skills alone would help to increase his understanding, it was still not as good as go through actual combat where the skills would truly be put into good use.
Because these monsters were fairly weak compared to him, he didn’t gain much from them.
And there was something else which he had found out, which was that he was unable to absorb talent below Mortal Tier 5.
Then he realized that as his Talent increases, so was the requirements needed to enhance his talent.
Talents below Mortal Tier 5 could no longer aid him anymore.
No wonder his Talent did not rise that quickly although he had sent for his 10 Lower Subordinates to hunt down monsters and absorb as much talent as they could.
Although this will decrease the speed of his talent enhancement, it was not really that great of an impact to him, because as his cultivation at the 6th Elementary Realm, his target is no longer the lower grade monsters, but rather the Grade 3 Monsters.
Higher grade monsters often have higher talent than the lower grade monsters. Monsters and beasts are also limited by their talent. To the monsters reach a higher Grade, they also require greater talent.
He also understood the reasoning behind this. After all, he could not hope for a mere Mortal Tier 5 Talent to be effective towards his Human Tier 1 Cultivation Talent.
It was like how a Grade 1 Qi Gathering Pill benefited the Qi Refining Realm and below, but had no usefulness towards his Elementary Realm cultivation.
It seemed like the System had taken the sum of both his Alchemy Talent and Cultivation Talent into context, and it was useful for both.
While he was walking deeper into the forest, he did not forget that his mission was to acquire the Poisonous Purple Herb from the Purple Tiger Beast.
The Poisonous Purple Herb was not very difficult herb to locate, because there was a special characteristic about the place it is located in.
A small region around the Poisonous Purple Herb will turn purple, including the plants and trees. Within the forest, the colour purple will be rather glaring and pronounced.
The only thing stopping cultivators from plucking the herb away was the Purple Tiger Beast which was a monster which depended on the herb for survival.
Long Chen reached the Grade 3 Monster region soon after, and this time, he was not acting as casual as before.
There was that occasional monster that sensed his presence and rushed towards him, but under Long Chen’s combat skills, they fell dead within a few moves.
Long Chen did not forget to collect the monster corpses, because they were all worth crystals. Now that he had a storage bag, he could store much more of these monster corpses.
It took him quite a while of searching, before he finally glimpsed of a purple coloured region. This was a sign that the Poisonous Purple Herb was near!
He ran towards the purple coloured region, and as he had expected, a purple coloured flower that consistently produce faint pink gas that dispersed into the surroundings stood a distance away.
And beside this flower, was a sleeping tiger with purple fur. It was around 2 metres long, and its claws that were faintly exposed looked sharp and dangerous.
Even if it was sleeping, it subconsciously radiated of a natural ferocity that would scare off any gutless and weak monsters.
Long Chen peered at the sleeping Purple Tiger Beast, and realized that there was something different about it.
The fur looked a darker shade of purple than what it was supposed to be, and its aura was actually that of a High-Tier Monster!
It seemed like this Purple Tiger Beast had managed to evolve to the next stage with the help of the Poisonous Purple Herb.
After realizing this point, Long Chen’s lips rose up into a smile.
A Mid-Tier Grade 3 Monster is too weak to determine his current combat power. Since there was a High-Tier Grade 3 Monster just sitting there waiting for him to test out how strong he truly is, how couldn’t he not possess a few traces of anticipation?
He didn’t bother to hide his presence, as he slowly walked step by step towards the Purple Tiger Beast, his right hand gripping onto his sword, ready to strike out.
He wanted a direct confrontation!
As Long Chen moved closer, the Purple Tiger Beast seemed to detect an unfamiliar sent in the air, as he lifted its nose up and started sniffing.
Its eyes abruptly opened, and its purple eyes directly noticed the presence of Long Chen.
The Purple Tiger Beast stood up from its slumbering position, and seeing that Long Chen was invading its territory, it lifted his head and roared towards the sky angrily.
This was a declaration of its battle.
As it loud roar landed, the Purple Tiger Beast kicked up its hind legs and began to rush towards Long Chen with undeniable ferocity, with the ground even faintly trembling as its entire weight pressed down onto the ground with every step.
The Purple Tiger Beast’s charge carried with it extraordinary momentum and an oppressive aura that was suffocating. As it neared Long Chen, it lifted its sharp claws and made a slashing movement towards him.
The imposing aura that emanated out of the Purple Tiger Beast made Long Chen feel a bit stifled for air, and as he faced the charging Purple Tiger Beast, he lifted his sword.
Shadow Sword!
His sword produced a ray so quick that it seemed to have instantly appeared in front of the Purple Tiger Beast.
Facing the dominating claw that slashed towards him, the ray of light directly impacted it, and the collision of these two great forces created a cloud of dust to rise.
There were even faint holes within the hard, solid ground.
The Purple Tiger Beast let out an enraged roar, and its body abruptly exploded with a wave of power. It had sustained slight injuries to its sharp claw just now because of Long Chen’s strike, and the anger of being injured flooded its mind.
