Godslayer’s Legend - Chapter 167
Although he had no idea of what laid above the monarch rank, he decided to buy the crystal anyway.
As soon as he placed his bid, the person in the private booth right opposite him placed another bid.
“50,000,000,000”
Arthur looked at the booth before grinning mischievously and placing another bid.
“51,000,000,000”
Hearing this the auctioneer frowned under his mask since he expected Arthur to go with the flow and make an extra bid of at least 2,000,000,000. However, when the person in the booth opposite Arthur placed another bid, his frown disappeared.
“55,000,000,000”
Not a second later, it returned as Arthur did the same thing as last time.
“56,000,000,000”
All other attendees dropped all thoughts of bidding the moment Arthur place a bid exactly 1,000,000,000 above the other person’s bid.
Having gone to multiple other auctions, they understood that no matter what anyone else bid, Arthur and his competitor were determined to get that crystal and would place higher bids.
“60,000,000,000”
“61,000,000,000”
As the person in the booth placed another bid, Arthur immediately placed another bid exactly 1,000,000,000 above his much to his displeasure.
◇ ◇ ◇
The person who was in the private booth opposite Arthur, was someone Inglis and Aurora would definitely remember.
It was the celestial who was the galactic ruler of the galaxy Aurora decimated. He was also the one who was responsible for the attacks on Conrad.
This celestial, was also the one who had been draining the life out of dozens of realms and absorbing the energy generated from the declination of the races that inhabited the planets in these realms.
Over the past few years, he had been gathering various artifacts and relics in the Hell universe and he had one last thing that he needed.
It was a law crystal with the basic to monarch ranks of any law. Not just that, it had to be a crystal-like this one that could potentially posess a law rank higher than the monarch rank.
Right now, he was currently enraged as he realized the intention of the person in the private booth opposite him.
“What brat dares?!”
Normally, he would have attempted to wreck the entire auction and grab the crystal before making his way back to his base immediately.
That was what he had done at two other auctions that had items he was looking for, however, he saw via the law of destiny that if he was to attempt that, it would mean his instant death.
At first, he was nonplussed, then he remembered that the master of the hell universe was most likely keeping tabs on him.
Throw in the progenitor drifter whose appearance he caught a glimpse of as he was making his way to his private booth, he knew fully well that it was futile to attempt anything.
At least not while the auction was still ongoing. Whatever happened afterward, was not the business of the auction’s organizers; the drifters.
As such, they would not take any action even if he decided to slaughter all the attendees. However doing so would be the height of folly as it would not only waste his time, but also increase the possibility of the hell universe’s master taking immediate action against him.
“65,000,000,000.”
“66,000,000,000.”
He tried placing another bid but the person in the booth opposite him also placed a bid exactly 1,000,000,000 above his own.
He decided to curb his anger and place one last bid, however, the results were still the same.
“70,000,000,000”
“71,000,000,000”
At this point, he now decided to make the person waste their money but he considered the possibility of the person having the same thoughts as him and decided against it.
◇ ◇ ◇
Seeing as the celestial was not placing any more bids, the auctioneer rose his voice and spoke.
[We have a whopping 71,000,000,000 platinum coins. Going Once! Going Twice!! Gone!!!]
Many of the attendees gave a round of applause for the one who won the law crystal while also silently giving their condolences.
Arthur on the other hand, decided not to waste a second and went to collect his items immediately. He arrived at the VVIP counter and handled the payments before receiving his items.
He then walked out through the special exit prepared for VVIP attendees. As he was walking out, he saw another VVIP attendee who was leaving at the same time.
It was not a weird thing as most of the VIP and VVIP attendees left the moment the last auction item was sold, some even left far earlier than that.
They did not wish to be caught up in the chaos that was to ensue after the auction.
This was why Arthur did not put the other VVIP member in his eyes, however, the next second, he changed his thoughts and began to move faster so as to get away from him as soon as possible.
‘Celestial energy and Divinity!
He is either a god or a celestial.
Whichever one it is, staying around him is not going to do me any good!’
There was a possibility of him being from another race but Arthur did not consider it at all. The only thing on his mind was getting away quickly.
The box with the law crystal was in his inter-spatial ring but who knew if the person beside him had the ability to probe his ring and check its contents without him realizing it.
He didn’t want to take any chances.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
‘It’s him!’
The person, who was beside Arthur, was the celestial he was just bidding against. He decided to leave early, betting on the chance that the person who bought the crystal would also do the same and he was right.
Although he could not sense Arthur’s realm of existence, with the power of time, he was able to accurately get Arthur’s age and came to the conclusion that anyone at his age would not be in the legendary realm or above.
Deciding not to take action himself in favor of other things he wished to steal from the deity realm existences that attended the auction, he ordered the inferior stage legendary realm grunts he brought with him to ambush Arthur and search him for the crystal.
He didn’t even bother probing Arthur’s inter-spatial ring and concluded that Arthur was the one with the box and the crystal within.
As soon as the two of them walked out of the hall, a formal announcement for the end of the auction was made and everyone was told to vacate the premises in less than 5 minutes.
‘It’d take more than 5 minutes for the carriage to get here. Should have called it earlier!’
Arthur was regretting not using his token to call for a ride earlier. Now he had to find a place to hide and wait for the carriage.
The celestial behind him had already vanished at a point in time Arthur did not realize but Arthur could not care less right now.
He kicked off the ground and dashed towards the exit of the small realm the auction was held in. The moment he passed through, he was met with the nighttime view of a city.
It was the lobby of a hotel building and he could see the city outside the wide window that was opposite him.
It was dark, the streetlights were not properly lighting every street. There was little in the way of traffic and most vehicles sped away above speed limits. Only a few windows appeared to be dimly lit from the inside.
‘Shit! I forgot the exit isn’t in the desert!’
The auction was held in a small realm on the planet Nemo, however, upon exiting the auction, one was taken to a different place.
The truth of the matter was that the VVIP exits sent all the VVIP members to a random part of a random city. It was also made to not send two people to the same place. If they wished to use the rides provided by the auction house, all they had to do was ping their location by pouring magic power into their token.
Arthur clicked his tongue and went down the elevator to the ground floor of the building and walked past the other people who appeared to be actual guests of the hotel.
Leaving the building, he walked down the busy hotel street while fiddling with his token.
‘To call the ride all I had to do was pour magic power into it, perhaps I could call them to come over here by doing the same again?’
And so he did, the next moment the token glowed green, signifying that his request for transport had been accepted.
He then planned to find a restaurant or bar to wait for the ride but before he could, he noticed he was being followed.
‘Huh? How did they find me?!’
There were some people who staked out potential areas where the exits from the auction could be and waited for anyone suspicious to come out before attacking said person.
Arthur’s action of using his token out in the open, alerted those people who decided on him as their target.
While he was thinking of how to lose them, the ground began rumbling.
‘An earthquake? Or NOT!!’
He initially thought it was an earthquake but after feeling the enormous amount of magic power from underneath, he realized it was not.
****KAAAABOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!
