Godzilla Earth: Origin - Book 1: Chapter 45: The Titans' Contemplation
Is this the last stronghold of humanity up ahead?
Godzilla looked ahead at the stretching mountain range in Hokkaido.
Its human radar informed it that the last remnants of humanity were concentrated inside those mountains.
Everyone was there, and all the tanks should be there too.
The people were deployed behind ridges on the mountainsides, with most of their lights closely packed into transport vehicles.
Only a few individuals were stationed in the frontline command center, much like during the last human army’s interception of it.
This time, the human positions spanned many more ridges than before.
Almost every mountain ridge had a transport vehicle parked on its slopes, but Godzilla had no idea what they were planning.
Despite seeing the surroundings of these transport vehicles clearly, it couldn’t understand what they were meant to be used for.
This must be a plan to deal with it.
But Godzilla had no clue about the specifics of this plan or how this group of humans would execute it and cause trouble for it.
Regardless of their plan, it would crush them all.
Godzilla stepped into the mountain range.
At this moment, it entered the range of human weaponry.
And the humans reacted promptly.
“Fire.”
A voice commanded.
Two hundred kilometers away, on the aircraft carrier, supersonic fighter jets and bombers were launched into the sky using electromagnetic catapults, leaving behind trails.
Electromagnetic cannons and missile launchers poured their ammunition towards Godzilla at the edge of the mountain range. Unmanned combat vehicles on the ridges launched a saturation attack on Godzilla!
Hundreds of armor-piercing rounds, hundreds of railgun shots, and even more rocket and missile explosions covered Godzilla’s entire body, causing explosions and impacts all over it!
Even the land around Godzilla was devastated by the blast of the shells!
Forests were leveled, and dozens of simultaneous explosions sent broken trees flying.
The torso, head, and limbs of Godzilla were all subjected to the bombardment of shells.
Humans were bombarding Godzilla with all their might.
At this moment, every person watching this battle on the satellite in the Eastern Region knew that this was the maximum conventional firepower humanity possessed.
But at the same time, they also knew that with this firepower alone, they couldn’t harm Godzilla.
This was unable to stop Godzilla.
You are unable to stop me.
Under this intense bombardment, Godzilla opened its mouth and aimed at a ridge.
Its mouth emitted a brilliant blue light, accumulating its internal power.
Then, in the next second, the mountain disappeared.
A violet concentrated beam of light pierced through the entire mountain peak in an instant, completely destroying the positions behind it.
Godzilla’s atomic breath burned through one mountain peak, and it didn’t stop there!
After burning through one mountain peak, it swept outward, enveloping other mountain ranges, directly cutting them in half!
“Bang, bang, bang, bang…”
Countless shells attacked Godzilla from near and far. Rockets, armor-piercing rounds, grenades, surface-to-surface missiles, and even surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles were launched at Godzilla.
“Whoosh—”
In response, Godzilla’s breath swept across the world in front of it, instantly dimming the sky and the earth!
Godzilla’s breath destroyed everything that came at it from that direction! Even several mountain ridges were turned into a sea of flames!
“Boom!”
Another mountain ridge was pierced, and Godzilla completely destroyed another tank position.
At the same time, a swarm of supersonic fighter jets, having covered a distance of a hundred kilometers, also arrived on the battlefield.
They fired their most powerful missiles at Godzilla to attack it. In response, Godzilla lifted its head.
Its breath swept across the sky, turning most of the supersonic drones on the battlefield into metallic debris on the ground in an instant.
Only a few fighters managed to survive this attack, but they were subsequently taken down by a second blast.
In less than twenty minutes of combat, human forces had already lost more than one-fifth of their strength.
It’s important to note that this battle wasn’t just fought by the ground forces. The United Fleet against Godzilla also participated in this battle.
The total scale of the battle far exceeded that of the previous attrition warfare.
And within just a dozen minutes, Godzilla had broken through the human defensive line.
It wasn’t a battle at all.
Godzilla was advancing forward.
As it destroyed the tanks daring to attack it along with the ridges they were stationed on, it also paid attention to the movements of the humans hiding behind the mountains in this battle.
The behavior of the human main forces during this battle was quite peculiar.
Every time it got close to the mountains with human transport vehicles behind it, the nearby artillery would suddenly stop firing and no longer provoke it to attack.
Meanwhile, the long-range rocket launchers would increase their intensity to attract its attention.
In such a situation, the transport vehicles nearest to it would immediately start moving.
During the interval between the close-range nuclear explosion shockwaves, they would quickly and inconspicuously approach Godzilla in low altitude, at the fastest speed possible.
Following that, many more transport helicopters would take off from various directions, but unlike the first one, they would fly high-profile, flying straight towards Godzilla.
They had exposed themselves as targets.
Godzilla could clearly feel that humans were doing all this to allow the transport helicopter closest to it to get close.
This was highly suspicious.
They sacrificed so much for the chance of getting a transport helicopter close to me.
Godzilla didn’t believe the little ones were fools, wasting so many resources on a useless transport helicopter.
Humans were a pragmatic species.
Since they were willing to invest so many resources in the opportunity to get a transport helicopter close to me…
Then it meant that these transport helicopters, once close to me, could cause more harm, meaning they carried weapons capable of inflicting significant damage on it.
Were there weapons inside capable of causing significant damage to me? But humans don’t have the technology to do that, right?
So, was this just a bluff? Were they trying to lure me in?
No, no… If it was a lure, then it meant the little ones already knew about my radar.
So, which is it?
Godzilla pondered.
It thought for a while, and then decided…
It didn’t want to think about it.
There was no need for Godzilla to outwit humans.
After all, it was a Titan.
A Titan should behave like a Titan.
So it decided to do just that.
