Godzilla Earth: Origin - Book 1: Chapter 47: Internal Explosion Plan
The high-temperature lava filled the crater, and the massive mushroom cloud formed by debris and dust covered the entire sky.
The mountains ahead extended as a massive pit nearly three kilometers in diameter and several hundred meters deep, created by Godzilla’s terrifying attack.
With this super crater as the center, the hills within a 10-kilometer radius had their top layers scraped off. Even closer, some smaller hills were directly flattened by the impact.
The entire western forests of Hokkaido were blazing.
At the moment Godzilla’s breath exploded, all the trees within 100 kilometers of its epicenter were set on fire.
The smoke from the burning was so thick that even Godzilla couldn’t see the scenery ahead, and the dense smoke engulfed everything.
The firelight in the thick smoke made the entire world appear orange, and Godzilla advanced through this orange haze it had ignited, heading towards the final frontline established by humans in the Far East.
The main forces of humanity in the Far East were located behind the various main peaks of the Yubari Mountain Range. The western side of this mountain area was relatively low, but the eastern side had an average altitude of over 1000 meters, with steep peaks and cliffs.
Here, Godzilla’s breath could not easily penetrate through the mountains as it did before.
Many eastern mountains were over 1000 meters tall, and their bases were 3 to 4 kilometers wide.
The energy required to penetrate them was incomparable to the smaller ridges from before.
So, Godzilla’s attack range was greatly limited in this mountainous region because its path was blocked by these peaks.
And unlike before, it couldn’t easily destroy these mountains.
This was the most troublesome terrain for Godzilla, and for humans, this terrain was not much better.
Although, from the perspective of being able to approach Godzilla easily, the eastern Yubari Mountain Range was undoubtedly one of the best points in Hokkaido.
However, this was based on the condition that there were many mountains blocking Godzilla’s path, preventing its breath from easily reaching the humans.
But at the same time, these mountains also blocked the human snipers.
The three sniper points represented the only places in Hokkaido where super-electromagnetic cannons could target areas outside of Hokkaido.
Among them, the first and second sniper points were the easiest to target. Although they were mountainous areas, high-to-low strikes could still achieve a relatively large attack range.
For now, Godzilla wasn’t aware that the first and second sniper points could target it.
It wasn’t familiar with the mountainous areas near Hokkaido and didn’t know that humans could target it within the mountainous region.
This was a significant advantage for humans, but now… they had lost more than half of this advantage.
The first and second sniper points had lost their ability to execute the plan. Although they could still target Godzilla with the super-electromagnetic cannons, it would be impossible to inflict significant damage with just one shot.
An internal explosion was needed.
Now, humans could only complete their plan at the third sniper point.
However, suitable sniper positions at the third sniper point were scarce, nowhere near as ample as the first two points for targeting.
The third sniper point was the most challenging one.
But humans no longer had the luxury to dislike it. At the moment Godzilla entered the third sniper point, they had to engage in their final battle against Godzilla.
Snow, huh? It’s the first time I’ve seen it since I woke up.
At this moment, Godzilla had reached the mountainous area. Its altitude continued to rise, and the temperature kept dropping.
Then, it saw the snow.
This was the first time it had seen snow since waking up.
The snow on the ground was in disarray, piled up chaotically. It didn’t resemble the smooth and even snow-covered ground; this mess was likely caused by Godzilla’s recent actions.
The shockwave from its breath caused massive avalanches in the snow-covered mountains, and these avalanches were thorough. Even when Godzilla’s massive feet landed, the impact didn’t trigger secondary avalanches, which showed the far-reaching consequences of its breath.
Godzilla walked in the snow, and as expected, human weapons began bombarding it once again after a few steps.
The remaining military forces in the Far East were all hidden behind these snowy mountains, launching a relentless barrage as soon as Godzilla entered their range.
However, compared to the previous saturation attack, their firepower was noticeably weaker this time.
Moreover, there were no railguns or similar direct-fire weapons; instead, they used long-range rocket artillery for bombardment.
But Godzilla didn’t consider these attacks a serious threat and symbolically attempted to use its breath to destroy the vehicles behind the mountains by melting through a kilometer-high peak. However, its breath wasn’t as effective as before.
It took several seconds for Godzilla to completely burn through the entire peak, and during the process, the mountain started collapsing, consuming even more time.
By the time the vehicle positions behind it were all destroyed, Godzilla had depleted all the fusion flames in its breath’s reactor. The attack was over, and it needed a few more seconds to reload.
When dealing with smaller mountains, it could burn through them in just a second, but when facing mountains over a kilometer high, Godzilla found it difficult.
So, directly burning through these peaks with its breath was a very time-consuming and laborious task. Godzilla chose another path – to go around the mountains and attack from the rear.
This made it much easier, and Godzilla moved agilely through the mountain range, disrupting the human military forces.
“Initiate the induced operation.”
