Godzilla Earth: Origin - Book 2: Chapter 7: Godzilla Cells
“I am the ambassador of the K2002 civilization from the third planet in the black hole galaxy.”
“I wish to negotiate a deal with you, Earthlings.”
“Our home, the third planet in the K2002 galaxy, was struck by the detestable Cataclysm Star. As a result, we had to leave our home star system and wander through the stars.”
“Then, after spending 73,245 years according to your calendar, we found your planet. Now, I represent the Bilusaludo civilization, and I am here to propose a trade with all of humanity.”
“We require at least one-fifth of Earth’s land surface to establish a nation, along with equal human rights in the international community.”
“As compensation, I will help you deal with the creatures known as Godzilla and Ghidorah. Furthermore, we will share our technology with humanity.”
“Monster phenomena are common in this universe, and your civilization is absolutely incapable of defeating Godzilla and Ghidorah. But with the support of the Bilusaludo civilization, you can triumph over these monsters.”
“We, the Bilusaludo, are a peaceful race and cannot bear to see your civilization destroyed by monster phenomena. Currently, our mothership is orbiting Saturn.”
“If Earth’s civilization accepts our terms, please transmit approval commands to Saturn’s orbit via outer space satellites for ten days, with ten transmissions in each local language.”
“After all the commands have been transmitted, we will dispatch an advance team to Earth, and they will also impart advanced Bilusaludo technology to humanity.”
“We hope that humanity can make the right decision. Goodbye.”
On the projection screen, the self-proclaimed Bilusaludo ambassador concluded their speech and turned off the projection, leaving the conference room in a state of chaos.
…
“Godzilla’s cells… Let’s be honest, can we even consider these things as cells? It’s been ten days, and in these ten days, this thing hasn’t shown any signs of being a cell… Why are we, biologists, studying this? Isn’t this something for the chemistry folks?”
In a biology laboratory at Yanjing University, a researcher in a white lab coat sat on a stool, looking through a microscope at the experimental sample in front of him, scratching his head.
“The folks from the chemistry department have been researching it, but they can’t make heads or tails of it either. Godzilla’s cells are just too strange. I’m afraid there won’t be any progress in researching it in the short term. Unless some benevolent extraterrestrial beings help us advance our technology.”
Beside him, another person was trimming their nails. Over the past ten days, they had faced one setback after another. Now, everyone in the laboratory had come to realize that this thing was beyond human comprehension.
Ten days might seem short for a research project, but Godzilla’s G-cells had left everyone at Yanjing University in a state of bewilderment.
Not just at Yanjing University, as far as they knew, their partner schools, the local universities, and the Ministry of Science and Research were equally puzzled by Godzilla’s cells. Large biological laboratories overseas were in the same boat, and everyone was at a loss.
Ten days ago, the remains of Godzilla were found in the far east and were sent to every research institution for joint study by the Departments of Chemistry, Materials Science, and Biological Sciences.
There was no shortage of Godzilla remains; there were over 10,000 tons of them. It was a daunting task to process it all.
Initially, everyone was enthusiastic, hoping to uncover the secrets of Godzilla and save the world. However, when they looked through the microscope and saw the reality, they were dumbfounded.
Goodness gracious, there was no nucleic acid, no protein, and the large molecules inside the cells were unrecognizable. ATP high-energy molecules, which were essential for energy transfer, were absent.
While there was something resembling a double-helix DNA structure, it was fundamentally different, something entirely distinct from conventional DNA. Godzilla’s cells were not part of the same system as cells in all other organisms. They had no starting point for research.
The auxiliary energy release and transfer mechanisms had transformed into metastable metallic hydrogen. People didn’t even know it existed until it was sent to them. This thing was way beyond modern biology by a few centuries. It was simply something humanity couldn’t decipher.
Looking at it from another angle, Godzilla’s cells lacked the ability to synthesize metallic hydrogen on their own, which meant that without Godzilla as a host, these cells, no matter which part, would lose their characteristics of life.
Wait a minute, this seems familiar?
It only manifests life characteristics when attached to another organism and is indistinguishable from inanimate matter when alone…
Isn’t this essentially a virus?
Indeed, it was. From the perspective of biological activity, all of Godzilla’s cells were like “viruses” parasitizing its reactor and material synthesis zones. In fact, these zones were also composed of these “viruses.” So, one could say that Godzilla was the only viral life form on this planet.
It was a life form made up of countless viruses, an existence completely different from all current animals, plants, and microorganisms.
It could be said that fortunately, Godzilla’s “cells” didn’t exhibit the same parasitic properties on other cells. Also, fortunately, there were no other organisms in the world capable of producing high-pressure phase iron and various other exotic materials besides Godzilla.
Otherwise, if Godzilla’s cells were truly identical in function to viruses…
It wouldn’t be a pleasant sight.
“Godzilla… ah…”
The young man in the white lab coat lay his head on the table and let out a sigh. The middle-aged man next to him had finished trimming his nails. He looked at him and said:
“Senzaki, don’t be so anxious. The matter of Godzilla cannot be solved by us alone. In the end, expecting to decode something like Godzilla in just ten days is quite unrealistic.”
“You haven’t slept for days. Research isn’t something you can rush. Dr. Senzaki is probably worried too. How about going out for a bit? After all, Dr. Senzaki came to Yanjing, right? They’ve made significant discoveries over there, haven’t they?”
The middle-aged man offered some advice and suggested that he visit Dr. Senzaki.
However, it was clear that the young man wasn’t receptive to this suggestion.
“I don’t really want to see him… I came to Yanjing to study precisely to avoid seeing him. If you want to go, go ahead!”
He continued to mumble while resting his head on the table. Hearing this response, the middle-aged man simply stood up, saying:
“Since you don’t want to go, I might as well. Farewell.”
“Ah! Wait!”
Senzaki didn’t want to stay alone in the laboratory during lunchtime, so he hurriedly followed.
The two of them walked out of the laboratory together.
