Granting You A Second Life Hiatus - Chapter 103 Chong Guiton
Ren Guiton expression hardened: “With all due respect Li Xiuying although I may have allowed you and Yao Changyingto be present that does not mean that I will allow you to involve yourself in Ren family business. In fact I would prefer the person who led my daughter astray to not speak self righteously before me. Daiyu would never have caused someone the level of humiliation she did yesterday if she were not instigated.”
Yao Changying turned to Ren Daiyu: “Yu were you adopted? Maybe we should do some genetic testing?”
Before Ren Daiyu could respond Ren Guiton admonished: “Yao Changying what nonsense are you spouting. Daiyu is my flesh and blood. The blood of the Ren family runs through her veins.”
Dr Yao smiled gently: “I would still like to test your DNA. I have a friend who works in genetics. I can offer you a discount? In fact I’ll happily pay for the test.”
Ren Daiyu saw her father was becoming enraged she turned to Yao Changying and spoke gently: “Changying don’t tease.”
Yao Changying shrugged her shoulders acting like she had done nothing wrong.
Ren Guiton: “Daiyu these are the people you want to associate with? A person who disrespects your father so belligerently?”
Li Xiuying stood up: “Let’s go.”
Ren Guiton: “You both may leave but Daiyu will be staying.”
Yao Changying stood up: “You know before anesthesia was discovered in order to do operations the doctor would render the person unconscious either by getting them to drink alcohol or hitting them over the head. YingYing you know how annoying it is when someone just keeps impeding your actions.” She had always had a cheeky personality that invited trouble.
Ren Guiton voice became dangerously low: “Are you threatening me?”He was internally shocked that Yao Changying was openly suggesting assaulting him to render him unconscious.
Li Xiuying: “We are leaving now.”
Ren Guiton stood up from his table: “I’ve already stated you both may leave but Daiyu stays.”
Li Xiuying sighed: “I wanted to give my respect to someone who is not only the father of my friend but is perceived to be a highly respectable elder. Unfortunately it seems the task is too difficult.”
Ren Guiton: “Li Xiuying leave my…”
Li Xiuying spoke coldly: “Ren Guiton please provide us with a buccal sample so we can check whether you are truly Daiyu’s father. I’m starting to really question your relationship. I don’t understand how someone who can become enraged about the suggestion of adoption can sit before us and prattle on in support of an outsider. Are Daiyu’s words not enough for you as her father? What did Chong Honghui give you or say to convince you that his words are gospel? Why don’t you change your surname to Chong instead? From the moment we stepped into this room you had treated Daiyu like she is guilty. You chose that insufferable pig-headed, chauvinist over the person who supposedly has your blood running through their veins? Oh and do you truly believe we require your permission to leave? You want to try an intimidate me? You may face the most evil humans of society but I have them begging at my feet. So Chong Guiton once again, WE are leaving.”
Yao Changying and Ren Daiyu were both standing with their mouths wide open in shock.
Ren Guiton was surprised by the level of power and intimidation exuding from the words of the small woman before him. However, he was able to quickly shake himself out of his stupor: “You mentioned a recording. If you have evidence that Daiyu was not at fault, then I owe her an apology.”
Li Xiuying feigned ignorance: “What recording?” Was the man before her joking? Why would she need to prove anything to him?
Ren Guiton: “I have the text where you stated you have recordings.”
Li Xiuying: “Daiyu, Changying we’re leaving.”
Both women were ready to leave with Li Xiuying. Ren Daiyu was slightly reluctant to leave, she didn’t want to argue with her father but she knew that at this point in time her words would just fall on deaf ears.
Ren Guiton walked away from his desk and stood before the three women his angry face morphed into one of sincerity: “I’m sorry Xiuying and Changying; I didn’t mean anything I said. I just wanted to see whether my Daiyu was able to make true friends.”
He turned to face Daiyu and pulled her into a hug, he spoke gently: “I’m sorry baby girl. I just didn’t want you to suffer at the hands of the people you trust again. This was the quickest way to assess their loyalty.” He wanted to see whether the women stood by his precious Daiyu or whether they abandoned her at the drop of a hat. He didn’t want his daughter to go through the pain that she had suffered this past year. He wanted to see if these two people would leave Daiyu when they saw that her father demonstrated that he didn’t hold Ren Daiyu in high regard.
Ren Daiyu returned her father’s hug. She had previously been extremely disappointed and saddened by her father’s words.
Yao Changying: “You were testing us?” She was both angry and impressed by Ren Guiton’s acting abilities.
Ren Guiton: “I truly apologize. I was just trying to look out for Daiyu. Please sit down and we can start over again.” He gestured to the seats.
Ren Daiyu left her father’s embrace and sat down. Yao Changying gave Ren Guiton an assessing look before sitting down.
Li Xiuying stood in front of Ren Guiton she looked into his eyes: “Only once.” She could understand Ren Guiton’s actions as a father wanting to protect his daughter however she didn’t like being tested. She had not behaved in a way that would require her loyalties to be questioned.
Ren Guiton peered into the clear eyes before him that looked like they could see into his soul: “Of course.”
Li Xiuying nodded and sat down. She took out a USB from her back pocket and placed it on the large desk before returning to her seat.
Ren Guiton immediately inserted it into a USB port. He listened to the audio recording play and became more enraged the more he listened.
Ren Guiton: “I’ll take care of this.”
Ren Daiyu: “Dad I know you’re angry but you can’t act now. YingYing has a plan of action.” She started detailing the plan to her father.
Ren Guiton listened quietly. His face outwardly looked calm but in actuality he was astounded by the level of detail of Li Xiuying’s plan.
Ren Guiton: “Let’s follow the plan. As long as I am able to teach Chong Honghui a lesson I’ll be happy.” He wanted to beat that Chong Honghui and Jia girl so they would no longer be able to run their filthy mouths again.
Ren Guiton sighed as he thought about his brother. ‘How could brother Chong’s son turn out like this? He’ll be saddened when he hears about this.”
Sensing her father’s melancholy Ren Daiyu tried to distract him: “Dad we should probably head back downstairs to the party.” She got up and pulled her father’s arm to follow her.
Ren Daiyu looped her arm around her father and lent her head on his shoulder.
Yao Changying: “Come on YingYing the party awaits.”
Yao Changying and Li Xiuying walked down the hallway side by side: “YingYing can you show me how to do that hypnotizing thing with my eyes? It’s definitely a useful skill to have.”
Li Xiuying: “What?”
Yao Changying: “You know. That thing where you looked into Ren Guiton’s eyes and made him freeze?”
Li Xiuying rolled her eyes and ignored Yao Changying.
Yao Changying: “Are you not allowed to tell me? If you told me would I have to die? I don’t really want to die just yet. How about this, whenever I need someone to bend to my will I’ll call you to come and do your hypnotizing voodoo. You’ll get to practice your skills making them stronger and I’ll get an army of minions to do my bidding. It’s a win-win situation. We can make them into laborers for our farm in the future and they will…”
Yao Changying was too busy hashing her plan for her minion army that she didn’t notice that Li Xiuying was already halfway down the stairs: “YingYing wait for me! It was just a suggestion! I only need one minion to do my paperwork.”
