Granting You A Second Life Hiatus - Chapter 113 Grim Reaper
As Yao Changying finished anesthetizing Mrs Si Peijing, Li Xiuying walked towards her.
Li Xiuying asked: “Did the patient cause any trouble?”
Yao Changying: “She kept asking all these questions about drugs, dosing and risks of anesthesia. She even asked about the complications of putting in an airway.”
Li Xiuying: “Document the situation verbatim.”
Yao Changying made an okay sign: “Sure thing Captain Ying.”
Li Xiuying proceeded to sterilize and drape Si Peijing: “D do not scrub. Note down all the steps of the procedure including the steps performed by other staff members.”
Wu Quon: “Erm Okay.” He went and took a few sheets of paper, a clip board and a pen and began writing. He noted down all the members currently in the theater and described the sterilization and draping. ‘Is this a new way of learning? I’ve never heard anyone do this before.’
A distinguished man in his 50’s walked into the theater. He walked over to Li Xiuiyng’s side.
Li Xiuying: “Welcome Dr Hao. Thank you for coming.”
Dr Hao: “No problem at all, I look forward to seeing you work.”
The staff members looked at each other in confusion ‘Why is Dr Hao here? Dr Li was able to complete the other cholecystectomy without assistance.’ They quickly turned their attention back to the tasks at hand.
…
30 minutes later Wu Quon shook out his tired hand ‘I’ve never had to concentrate so much and write so quickly. I wish Dr Li would have slowed down a little more.’
Li Xiuying didn’t realize that her idea of slowing down was still considered fast.
Li Xiuying spoke to Yao Changying as she slowly wheeled out Si piling: “Changying remember to…”
Yao Changying: “Verbatim. I got this, don’t worry. I’ll meet you by your office as soon as I’m done.”
Li Xiuying: “Okay.”
Li Xiuying: “D notes.” Li Xiuying read the 3 pages of notes and signed them at the bottom.
Li Xiuying: “Sign them. Get everyone else to also sign them.”
D: “Erm okay.”
She then turned to Nurse Meng Eu-Meh: “Nurse Meng please note down information about the sharps, gauze and equipment.”
Meng Eu-Meh: “Okay.” Although she found it an odd request considering most equipment had to be registered on the hospital system; she believed that Li Xiuying must have a good reason behind this request.
Li Xiuying: “Thank you for being here Dr Hao.”
Dr Hao: “Not a problem, it was a pleasure seeing your meticulous work. I look forward to working with you again on Friday.”
Li Xiuying nodded.
Li Xiuying watched as everyone signed the notes and smirked a little. ‘I do hope that Si Peijing really does complain.’ She then filled in the official form for the surgery.
….
Li Xiuying had changed into her street wear and was happily making her way to her office. As she drew nearer she could hear the voices of various people conversing. She thought to herself ‘Well looks like history does repeat itself. I was beginning to think that my family had forgotten about me.”
Li Xiuying sent the message [My office, Trouble.] to a few people in her contacts.
Li Xiuying then opened the door to her office and stood waiting in the hallway.
Jiang Huan: “Hello is anyone there? Dr Li?” She stood up from her chair and looked out the door.
Jiang Huan: “Oh hello Dr Li. You have a few guests here to see you. They said that they were old acquaintances of yours so I thought it best to allow them to wait here.”
She turned to the people in the room: “Mr and Mrs Murong, Murong Fu look who’s here.”
The middle aged couple along with their teenage son walked towards Li Xiuying who was currently standing in the middle of the wide hallway.
Murong Fu spoke maliciously: “Well hello Dr Li, nice of you to finally show up. Isn’t your greeting a little lacking considering our history?”
Li Xiuying looked at Murong Fu indifferently. These were exactly the same words that were spoken in her past life. However, in her past life this situation actually happened 7 months later.
In her previous life these 3 people had been paid by the Li family to make a scene at the hospital. The story they had spun consisted of Li Xiuying killing the older son due to a surgical error. Mrs Murong even pulled Li Xiuying’s hair and slapped her face in front of all her colleagues. Li Xiuying was subjected to violence and slander.
Li Xiuying had begun to defend herself when her uncle had shown up and took her away telling her that she didn’t need to waste her breathe with these people and that he would hire a lawyer to refute their claims. The fact that Li Xiuying did not try to clear her name lead to many rumors around the hospital; after all there’s no smoke without fire. What made the situation even worse was that the lawyer Li Wang had hired for her wanted her to settle out of court. When she refused to settle and explained that she didn’t operate on the deceased, Li Yu Yan and Li Wang went behind her back and paid a huge sum of money to the Murong’s. At that time Li Wang sent the money from one of Li Xiuying’s accounts so it looked like she was the one who tried to buy the family’s silence.
She had only come to know about the Li family’s involvement because she had “coincidentally” seen Li Wang and Mr Murong meeting when she was making a home visit in a remote part of the City.
Li Xiuying realized a little too late that this “coincidence” was in fact all orchestrated and she was being toyed with.
….
Li Xiuying looked coldly at the monkey’s performing in front of her.
Mrs Murong stepped forward and held her son’s shoulders comfortingly: “Xiao Fu don’t work yourself up because of this vile woman! She never apologized for what she’s done, how can we expect her to show any remorse for her misdeeds?”
Li Xiuying:” I don’t apologize for things I’ve never done.”
Mrs Murong screeched in indignation: “You…You…You how dare you say that you’ve done nothing wrong?! You’re the one who operated on my son. He was just meant to have a kidney stone removed but instead you removed part of his kidney and managed to cut his artery. You want to stand before us and deny everything that you’ve done? How do you sleep at night?”
People started to poke their heads out of the nearby offices when they heard shouting.
Mr Murong: “You should have your medical licence revoked.” He spat on the floor aiming at Li Xiuying’s feet.
Mrs Murong: “You killed my son and then tried to buy our silence! How could a despicable human like you be a doctor?! You should be rotting in prison and paying for your sins!!!!”
Li Xiuying didn’t pay any intention to Mrs Murong’s screeching and glanced over as Jiang Huan.
Jiang Huan was looking at the scene before her with glittering eyes full of excitement.
Jiang Huan felt something off and as she looked away from Mrs Murong and met Li Xiuying’s eyes.
Jiang Huan immediately looked away and tried to find something else to look at. She felt a hot flush creep up her neck and over her face.
Mrs Murong: “You stupid B***h why are your not even paying attention when elders are talking to you? You slut! How did you parents bring you up?”
A crowd was starting to gather around and whisper amongst each other; some were even on their phones texting others to come and watch the show.
Mr Murong shouted: “You shouldn’t be called a doctor you should be called the grim reaper. The odor of death is clinging to you like a second skin. Our son’s blood is on your hands.”
Mrs Murong reached inside her bag after hearing her husband’s words and twisted the cap off a bottle which contained an identifiable liquid. She threw the contents aiming at Li Xiuying.
Li Xiuying took a stepped to the side when she saw Mrs Murong’s actions; she already knew this was coming.
Everyone stepped back from the liquid and the smell that was radiating from it. On the floor where Li Xiuying was previously standing was a myriad of colors; the liquid was brown, red, black and even orange in some places. There were even bits of unidentifiable solids floating around.
“What is going on here?”
Everyone turned to watch as Director Qin walking towards them with fast steps. Yao Changying was following close behind and trailing her there were 4 bulky security guards.
Qin Jingfei: “Dr Li what’s going on? Are you okay?”
