Granting You A Second Life Hiatus - Chapter 114 Time To Talk
Li Xiuying was about to speak when Mrs Murong started sobbing as she pointed at Li Xiuying: “This monster here killed my son. 2 years ago at Hanguang Hospital he went to have a kidney stone removed by this woman; who would have thought that this would also become the day of his death. This woman here removed part of his kidney and even damaged a major artery in the process. My poor son what did he do to deserve such a death? She watched as he bled to death on her table. Aaahh.” Tears were streaming down her face as she spoke.
Yao Changying: “Why did you wait 2 years to seek justice?”
Mrs Murong faltered a little “Aah erm I.”
Mr Murong pulled his wife close to him so her face was pressed on his shoulder: “Li Xiuying suppressed us with her power and that’s why no lawyer was willing to take our case. We tried to fight against her and take her to court. However, we’re just a small poor family with no influence who would listen to us? All our money was used up. We figured that we may not be able to take her to court however we would be able to let the world see her for who she really is. In this way we may be able to stop another life being cut short by Li Xiuying’s incompetence.”
Li Xiuying looked at the people before her with a hint of amusement.
Murong Fu: “You think that the pain we feel is funny?!”
Li Xiuying: “I don’t know who any of you are.”
Yao Changying walked over the liquid and stood to Li Xiuying’s right hand side: “Li is a common surname and we have quite a few Dr Li’s working at Unity Hospital.”
Murong Fu: “Do you think we’re stupid? How could we mistake my brother’s killer? We want justice we don’t want the wrong person to be persecuted.”
Mr Murong looked around: “Everyone look at this woman before you, she doesn’t even have a hint of remorse. She’s even pretending that she doesn’t know us. You are all people who fight to save lives how can this woman claim to be your colleague? Isn’t she bringing shame to you all and your highly respected profession?”
Some of the staff started looking at Li Xiuying’s differently.
Qin Jingfei was about to speak when she saw Li Xiuying subtly shake her head.
Mrs Murong peeked at the crowd and saw that they were beginning to sympathize with her. She pointed at Li Xiuying: “This murderer didn’t even apologize for what she had done. When we tried to confront her she jeered at us and just threw money at us to buy our silence. She stopped lawyers taking our case and when we finally found someone who was willing to help us; she found a way to get rid of him too. I beg you all to help us get justice for our poor Hulin.”
Yao Changying looked at Li Xiuying: “You never told me you had the power to control the judicial system.”
Mr Murong: “Is there something wrong with you? Why do you keep jeering at us and mocking us? Does it really make you feel good about yourself to kick and taunt people whilst they’re grieving the death of a loved one? Where is your heart? You should be ashamed of yourself. ”
Yao Changying was about to point at her chest when Li Xiuying placed her gloved hand on her forearm.
Mr Murong: “We came here to warn other people so they won’t have to lose their lives at this monster’s hands. We didn’t think that we would be taunted and have our pain mocked.”
Li Xiuying looked at her watch ‘It’s time to wrap up this play; my ears are ringing because of all the shouting and screeching.’
Li Xiuying: “I don’t know who you are and I don’t know who your son is. In fact I don’t even think that this deceased son exists. Let’s say for a moment that your words were true, why did you not go to the media after the incident? Why did you not get your son here, to get justice by going online and writing down the details of the incident? Why did you not report me to the medical board? Why have you waited 2 years to get your so called justice? Also, you said that I gave you money two years ago to silence you; do you have a bank statement as proof? How about you call your bank now and get them to relay that information for everyone to hear? Before you start another scene from the play you concocted my accounts where controlled by an external party until recently and this is being investigated. Do you have anything more to say?”
The Murong’s looked at each other feeling both confused and nervous.
Mr Murong tried to bluff: “You threatened us saying that if we said anything that we would live to regret it and you also said …”
Li Xiuying: “If my threats were enough to keep you quiet, why would I need to buy your silence? That doesn’t seem very cost-effective now does it?”
Mrs Murong’s tears had dried up and she was finding it difficult to make them water again. ‘This isn’t how this situation was meant to go. Why is everything going off script?!’
Mrs Murong: “I don’t know what form of reverse psychology mambo jumbo you’re trying to use here. You are clearly the guilty party why are you questioning us? You’re the one who has innocent blood on your hands not us. We came here today to allow everyone to know the truth, so no-one has to go through what we have had to suffer. Why should we be persecuted for being defenders of the truth?”
Li Xiuying: “I can see you just want to go around in circles and keep throwing around accusations without any evidence. So here what’s going to happen I’ll ask Director Qin to record your accusations as a formal complaint, you will be required to provide evidence and details about your son and the supposed incidence. I will then contact my lawyer and all correspondence will go through her henceforth. I will ensure that no stone will go unturned. I will get justice. Oh speaking of justice I will also be filing a complaint with the police regarding your attempted assault and harassment today.”
Murong Fu: “What assault we didn’t touch you!”
Li Xiuying: “I said attempted. Your father tried to spit on me and your mother threw offensive smelling liquid at me.”
Mr Murong: “Ah Dr Li don’t you think you’re taking advantage of our financial situation? How can we afford a lawyer to fight against you?”
Li Xiuying: “You just need to make a formal complaint and governing body will investigate. You can find lawyers who will do cases Pro Bono; providing that the client has a strong basis for a case. If you are arrested then you can use a state appointed lawyer. I wish you luck.”
Qin Jingfei her tone left no room for questions: “Murong family please follow me to my office I will take down your statement and I have questions I would like answered. I don’t know if everyone who is currently standing around have jobs to do?”
Everyone quickly dispersed as if their butts were on fire.
Qin Jingfei lead the Murong family away, the large security guards surrounded them and prevented them from escaping.
Yao Changying: “Well that was anticlimactic. I thought the family would scream and shout and struggle, especially after calling themselves defenders of the truth. ”
Li Xiuying shrugged: “Why struggle when you know there’s no hope of escape?”
Yao Changying tutted: “They looked like convicts walking down death row.”
There were only 3 people who remained in the hallway; Li Xiuying, Yao Changying and Jiang Huan.
Li Xiuying looked at Jiang Huan: “Time to talk.” She had finally had enough of this incompetent personal assistant. Li Xiuying could no longer tolerate her existence, especially since she was paying for Jiang Huan to be here.
Yao Changying’s eyes were twinkling at the thought of more drama unfolding. ‘I wish I had met Li Xiuying earlier, my life would have been so much more exciting.’
Li Xiuying walked into the office first followed by a cheery Yao Changying who suddenly had a lot pep in her step.Jiang Huan entered the office feeling a sense of foreboding.
Yao Changying pulled a chair to Li Xiuying’s side: “YingYing what are we waiting for?”
Li Xiuying: “Who not what.”
Yao Changying: “Ooo new player to the game!”
30 minutes later there was a knock on the office door.
Li Xiuying: “Come in.”
The door opened to reveal a handsome man in a tailored black suit.
The man spoke elegantly: “Hello Dr Li it is a pleasure to finally meet you. I have everything you requested.” He then placed a neat pile of papers on her desk along with a silver USB.
Li Xiuying gestured to each person with her hand as she spoke: “This is my new assistant Shen Xiaosi, this is my best friend Yao Changying and this is my former assistant Jiang Huan.”
