- Chapter 146 I Am Not Suggesting, Stating or Insinuating
Qin Song’s career was not without failure. His biggest mistake was made when he was 22 years old. He had invested in a fraudulent company which resulted in him losing millions. The company had shown patents a novel product but it turned out all of the paperwork had been forged and the product actually belonged to a company overseas. The issue was eventually resolved with the help of Qin Weimin and an out of court settlement for several millions of dollars.
Suffice to say the Qin family took this opportunity to tear him down. Members of the Qin family would call out of the blue or turn up at the company uninvited to question his work or just to kick him while he was down. For a year of his life, he was constantly ruminating about his failure, he was always stressed. He double, triple quadruple checked any investments he made. Qin Song not only lost weight and sleep, but he had also lost belief in himself and his instincts.
He was a zombie for those 365 days. Qin Song slowly saw that he was getting results from his subsequent investments and any losses he incurred would be minimal and he had learned how to manage losses and reduce damage. He managed to pull himself out of the dark hole that was called failure. Qin Song promised himself not to be blindsided or to allow himself to enter such a dismal state. Every decision he made would be made wholeheartedly and he would graciously accept success and graciously accept failure. Either of which could happen within the blink of an eye. The biggest promise he made to himself was that he would never allow Qin family or anyone else to ever mess with him and his family. They would never be allowed to dictate what he did or question his decisions.
Qin Song had taken the money that his brother had earned or saved and invested it in their names so they had their own money separate from the “Qin family” money. He even took the money that was gifted to little 4th when he was born and invested it into bonds for him. Old money came with conditions and expectations. The Qin family were largely silent now because their pockets were lined with money without them having to do much.
The Qin family’s reputation and power continued to grow steadily.
Even when his father took a new wife, they didn’t kick up too much of a fuss. As per Qin Song’s grandfather’s will which had a detailed section about remarrying secondary wives/husbands. In the Qin family, the first wife/ husband would be recognized as the true spouse. Secondary spouses would not be added to the genealogical records and would have to sign prenups. The prenups stated that spouses would only leave with the assets that they had brought into the marriage. Their children would only remain in the Qin family for as long as they did and the children would not be entitled to inherit any Qin family assets. Qin Song’s stepmother had assets of her own and was good with investments. She had a healthy-looking bank balance and had created a college fund and inheritance for little 4th.
Qin Song hated the hypocritical Qin family. They liked 21st-century money but they favored imperialistic, outdated, old fashioned customs and ideals. They had even suggested that he and his brother could marry their cousins to keep the qin family bloodline pure.
Qin Song heard his phone ringing.
He took his phone out of his pocket without evening opening his eyes: “Yes?”
He Minzhe: “What with that tone of voice? Aren’t you happy to hear from me?”
Qin Song: “I’m hanging up.”
He Minzhe: “Wait. Wait. Wait. If you hang up then I won’t tell you about your girl.”
Qin Song opened his eyes: “What?”
He Minzhe: “Hmm. I thought you were going to hang up?”
Qin Song massaged his forehead: “Minzhe.”
He Minzhe: “Okay I’ll tell you. Hmph I feel so used, you only want to talk to me when I have any infomration you want. Your love doctor is on the news.”
Qin Song immediately turned on the TV and flicked to the news. On the screen appeared the face of Li Xiuying and a news reporter.
Journalist: “We’ve heard that Dr Yang Zian’s previous colleagues and alleged victims are currently working at the hospital. Can you tell us about them and your opinions about Yang Zian?”
Li Xiuying: “I believe the members of the media have previously endeavored to destroy the lives of the doctors that you are now referring to as victims. It is an insult to ask your question in such a way that makes it seems like you have never met them or given a kick to them whilst they were down.”
Journalist: “I … I … I”
Li Xiuying: “I have to have faith in the medical council which policies us and ensures the safety of patients and also protects the doctors who pay them annually to do so. I support the ideals and values of the medical council. I think that a person such as Yang Zian who would harm patients, colleagues, his fellow humans has no humanity within him. He has shown no remorse and has even happily returned to work, dressed in an expensive suit without a care in the world. I am proud to be an employee at Unity hospital, where good doctors were given a second chance. Yang Zian is a surgeon who was allowed to practice even though many of his colleagues and patients have lodged formal complaints against him. I hope they can courageously step forward again, this time their voices will not be drowned out because everyone has their eyes on this story. This will be the time for them to come forward and get justice for themselves and their loved ones.” Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please clickfor visiting.
Journalists: “Are you suggesting that…”
Li Xiuying: “I am not suggesting, stating or insinuating that other hospitals are filled with bad doctors and only the Unity hospital has good doctors. There is good and bad in every intuition and workplace regardless of what field it is from accounting to teaching, from cleaning companies to gaming. The medical field is no different. Just like the world of journalism, not every journalist twists the truth and sensationalizes stories to make money. I would like to end on a reassuring note to all current and future patients. There are still many amazing, competent hard-working doctors working in medical facilities across China. That’s all. Thank you for your time.” She turned and walked away.
The journalist watched Li Xiuying walk away. He faced the camera: “Well, there you have it. I believe I have run out of time, its back to the studio for other news across Beijing.”
Qin Song had a massive smile on his face as he turned off the TV. ‘She managed to get her revenge after all.’
He Minzhe’s voice could be heard from Qin Song’s smartphone: “She is so sly and cunning! No wonder you like her, she’s like a female version of you!!! You narcissist! In just the space of a minute and a half, she defended her colleagues, improved Unity hospital’s reputation, tore down Yang Zian and emerald hospital, called the medical council to deal with the situation honestly as the eyes of the public are watching them, encouraged victims to come forward to provide more evidence against Yang Zian and slapped journalists in the face before also clarifying they are not all bad. Damn, she even reassured the public. I’m out of breath.”
Qin Song spoke nonchalantly: “Why are you still there? Don’t you have work to do?”
He Minzhe: “How rude?! Even after I allowed you to spend extra time with your sweetheart.”
Qin Song: “I have a meeting in 10 minutes.”
He Minzhe: “Yeah, Yeah. You owe me lunch and a small favor to be named at a later date.” He then hung up before Qin Song could refuse.
Qin Song was about to put his phone in his pocket when it rang again.
Qin Song: “Hello.”
The cute voice of little 4th could be heard: “Eldest brother. Did you bully my big sister YingYing?”
Qin Song: “I’m fine. How are you?”
Little 4th: “No time for peasantries.”
Qin Song: “Pleasantries.”
Little 4th: “Hmph. No time for that either.”
Qin Song: “I didn’t bully her. Why would you think that?”
Little 4th: “I just saw big sister on the news and it’s way past her working hours.”
Qin Song: “I didn’t keep her longer than necessary. She left after completing her work.”
Little 4th: “I’ll have to check with her before I believe you.” He then hung up.
Qin Song didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ‘Just whose little brother was this?’
