Granting You A Second Life Hiatus - Chapter 154 The Lesser Cousin
Emergency Department
Li Xiuying felt a cold shiver go down her spine all of a sudden. She got the sense that soemthing terrible and dark was going to cross paths with her soon.
Hsu Kuo Yung was sitting off to one side looking up scan results: “Are you okay Dr. Li?”
Li Xiuying: “Just sensed evil.”
Hsu Kuo Yung was perplexed: “Huh?” H thought ‘What is Dr Li talking about? What evil?’
Li Xiuiyng placed a piece of paper in front of H: “Interpret this ECG.”
Hsu Min Chung swallowed hard as his mind screamed “EVILLLL.”
Li Xiuying continued to document in the patient notes.
Hsu Kuo Yung was caught off guard: “Erm there is…”
Li Xiuiyng tapped the clock at the corner of the screen and frowned.
The nurse approached: “The patient is being transferred for PCI now.”
Li Xiuying: “Thank you.”
The nurse smiled in response, she liked working with Li Xiuiyng because she was always polite and updated the nurses about plans. Li Xiuying gave clear instructions and always prioritized tasks and didn’t make even the simplest non-essential tasks seem urgent and time-critical.
Li Xiuying swiveled in her chair and looked at H as he became more and more flustered.
Hsu Kuo Yung: ” for visiting.
Li Xiuying: “The widow maker. Due to the high risk of death.”
Li Xiuiyng: “Management of acute MI?”
H: “Medically we would use oxygen, Aspirin, Arixtra, Brilinta, morphine, GTN. PCI is the gold standard or thrombolysis if this isn’t possible.”
Li Xiuiyng: “Missing something.”
H frowned as he tried to wrack the recesses of his mind.
Li Xiuying frowned: “Reassure the patient.”
H: “Huh? Oh Okay.”
Li Xiuying frowned: “Do you think that someone who has been told they are having a heart attack would not be stressed or scared?”
Li Xiuying: “Which patients have been shown to benefit from thrombolysis?”
H: “Hmmm. Erm, I’m not sure.”
Li Xiuying: “ECG features: LBBB, ST-elevation inferior and anterior. Not effective in ST depression.”
H stood there to the side awkwardly. He didn’t bring his notebook today and didn’t want to try and find a random piece of paper.
H thought to himself: ‘Dr. Li already frowned at me 5 times. How can she frown at me so many times when I wasn’t even scheduled to shadow her. Why am I creating my own league?’
Li Xiuying: “Yes?” Why was he sitting there staring at her unmovingly? Had she petrified him?
H: “Huh or I. Erm Yes?”
Li Xiuying: “Are there no patients?”
H: “Ah yes. I’ll go and start seeing patients.” He stood up and was about to leave when his mouth opened before he could think.
H: “Dr Li may I ask why you call me H?” There was currently no G.
He felt smug ‘Maybe it’s because of my surname. Everyone else was just an afterthought of the alphabet.’
Li Xiuying looked at him straight-faced: “The way you answer questions.”
H: “Huh?”
Li Xiuying nodded: “Hmm or Huh.” She then resumed.
H stood perplexed for a few moments when he heard a few people sniggering from behind.
H: “What?”
One resident spoke up: “You start nearly every sentence with hmm or huh.”
H: “Hu… No I don’t. “He had to stop himself from saying huh.
The other resident giggled as she said: “Some of the nurses even call you as Dr Huh, the lesser-known cousin of Dr Who.”
H: “What?! How long has this been happening? Why hasn’t anyone ever told me before?” He rubbed his hand across his weary face. He always thought the nurses giggled when they saw him because they liked him and were taken in by his good looks and boyish charm.
Li Xiuying smiled a little ‘Dr Huh.’ She returned to being expressionless and continued seeing patients.
H lamented as he went to go see his next patient.

Canteen
Yao Changying pointed her chopsticks at Li Xiuiyng: “You have to fill me in about the news report thing when we meet Daiyu on Sunday. Don’t think I’ll forget.”
Li Xiuying: “Mmmm.”
The 2 were sat on a small table in the corner, which was relatively private.
Li Xiuying: “How is the science experiment?”
Yao Changying was confused for a moment before she understood: “Science experiment? Oh you mean Lai Shi-on? I will report on the repeat results of the experiment on Sunday. He’s taking me to a surprise activity tomorrow evening.”
Li Xiuiyng: “Activity?”
Yao Changying made inverted speech marks with her fingers: “Apparently it will be fun.”
Li Xiuying: “Sounds dangerous.”
Yao Changying: ” That’s what I thought. For all, I know he could be taking me to set fires or dig up graves or something.”
Li Xiuying: “What? Did he ask you to bring matches or a shovel?”
Yao Changying: “YingYing don’t be ridiculous. People don’t just ask you to bring your own equipment for a crime. Whoever suggests the idea has to bring what’s required.”
Li Xiuying: ” I see.”
Yao Changying; “He did say that I should dress warm and definitely wear socks.”
Li Xiuying: “Ice skating or bowling?”
Yao Changying deflated: “Yeah that’s what I figured. Being a law-abiding citizen, how boring. Couldn’t he take me to commit arson or grave robbery?”
They both chuckled.
Yao Changying: “I saw that you moved some of the surgeries around for next week and requested my assistance as well. Everything okay?”
Li Xiuying nodded: “I have to leave early on Tuesday and Thursday.”
Yao Changying leaned forward and looked at Li Xiuying with twinkling eyes: “What crimes are you committing? Where are you going? Who are you meeting? Who are you assassinating? Whose livelihood are you pillaging? Can I come?”
Li Xiuying just smiled: “What have you been watching?” She deliberately evaded the questions. She was going to take a massive chunk out of the Li family and put the final nail in Yang Zian’s coffin. She also had to make the next move on Chong Honghui.
Yao Changying: “You’re no fun! Stop avoiding my questions.”
Li Xiuying was about to say something when her phone rang. It was Shen Xiaosi.
Li Xiuying: “Hello.”
Shen Xiaosi: “Hello Dr Li. I’m sorry to bother you. There’s a … guest here who refuses to leave until he’s seen you. He stated he was a part of the Tu family and is here to discuss an endarterectomy scheduled for this Saturday.”
Li Xiuying: “I will see more patients in ED.”
Shen Xiaosi laughed but then covered it with a cough. He heard Li Xiuying’s message loud and clear, keep the ‘guest’ waiting.
Li Xiuying put her phone away.
Yao Changying: “What time are you heading to your office?”
Li Xiuying checked the time on the wall clock: “1 hour.”
Yao Changying giggled: “I’m coming too.”
Li Xiuying had an evil look on her face: “Sure.”
Yao Changying: “You’ve agreed to easily. What do you have planned? Maybe I should sit this one …”
Li Xiuying: “Assistant general prepare for battle.” She stood up and left happily before Yao Changying could argue. It would be humorous to let Yao Changying also suffer at the hands of the annoying Tu. Friends should share everything right? She was only fulfilling her duty.
Yao Changying shouted: “Hold on general! What battle? Is this enforced conscription? I didn’t sign up.”
A few doctors heard Yao Changying and began gossiping.
“Is there any other type of conscription except enforced?”
“Are they part of the army? Since when?”
“No, that isn’t possible. They’re opening an alpaca farm.”
“What about Yao Changying’s husband? I head that Li Xiuying was having an affair with him.”MI- myocardial infarction akak heart attack
