Great Tyrannical Deity - Chapter 3
After a while, both of them got to the clan’s technique room. Within the room was just three bookshelves worth of techniques. Shi Li thought that there would be more techniques within the room but was instead greeted with too little. Still shocked, he asked, “Father, is this really all the techniques the clan has amassed throughout the years?”
Not expecting the question, Shi Xingwan almost coughed a mouthful of blood but he forced it down. He then laughed dryly, “Well, my child, the reason why the clan just has this much techniques is because they’re all high quality techniques. Not just cultivation techniques, martial techniques are also present in the bookshelves.”
If cultivation techniques are made to strengthen the cultivator’s body and qi, martial techniques are methods to utilize the strength of the cultivator’s body and qi to its fullest extent or even farther.
Recalling specific information, Shi Li asked his father, “At what grade are the techniques here in the technique room?” Hearing this question, Shi Xingwan had no choice but to tell the truth, “My child, the strongest technique here is at the Low World grade. That was grabbed from an extremely fortuitous encounter back then. Other than that, most are the Intermediate and Peak Human grade.”
If a cultivator has realms to pass through, then techniques had grades to infer how close they were to explaining the true essences of Dao to a cultivator. Techniques have seven grades, namely from highest to lowest: Deity, Chaos, Primordial, Dao, Heaven, World, and Human. These grades and then split into three more subgrades: Low, Intermediate, and Peak.
Hearing an honest answer from his father, Shi Li then said, “Father, I would like to be alone for a while to find a good cultivation technique for me.” Shi Xingwan nodded and left the room to let Shi Li explore the techniques. ‘Hopefully he doesn’t aim too high that it seems impossible.’ Shi Xingwan thought.
After his father left, Shi Li grabbed the first book from the first shelf. He blew away the dust and read the title. ‘Furious Cleave Art, Peak Human grade.’ He then opened the cover to see a summary of what it could bring to a cultivator. ‘Gives 20 ren at Muscular Refinement stage 9. Allows the cultivator to attack at a speed that will catch the enemy offguard.’
Thinking for a while, Shi Li put the book back in the shelf and continued to search for a truly suitable cultivation technique for him.
‘Metal Skin Art, Peak Human grade. Gives 30 ren at Stage 9. Allows the cultivator to obtain a tyrannical defense that won’t leave deep external wounds easily when hit.’
‘Red Dust Technique, Intermediate Human grade. Gives 12 ren at Stage 9. Allows the cultivator to gain rudimentary control over fire and compress it to unleash stronger power.’
‘Shadow Flash Technique, Peak Human grade. Gives 18 ren at Stage 9. Allows the cultivator to move at extremely high speeds.’
‘Grand Fist Art, Intermediate Human grade. Gives 22 ren at Stage 9. Allows the cultivator to have fists of steel that can unleash a great amount of power.’
…
‘Way of the Water Body, Intermediate Human grade. Gives 13 ren at Stage 9. Allows the cultivator to be extremely flexible and reflect attacks back at the enemy.’
After reading through almost every book, Shi Li was disappointed. The books didn’t give him the effects he wanted. He only had one more book to read. It was the Low World grade book his father mentioned.
He picked it up and read: ‘Omnipotent Self Art, Low World grade. Gives 47 ren at Stage 9. Allows the cultivator to have an intrepid body and intrepid strength.’
As expected from a technique that was a grade higher than the others. It allowed the cultivator to have more power than his peers by many times. Reading more closely, he noticed a detail he might’ve missed if he didn’t.
‘This book is the first book out of the three books needed to complete the Way of the Tyrant. The second book is entitled Samsara Force Art and the third book is entitled Unyielding Heavenly Body Technique. By combining all three books, it will allow the cultivator to go through the true path of a tyrant and defeat cultivators of higher realms.’
‘That’s impossible!’ Shi Li thought. It was impossible for such a cultivation technique to exist in this world. This defies everything rational to the human mind. But he knew that this was the technique for him. He kept the book and went to his father.
…
Entering his father’s room, Shi Li grinned and said, “Father, I’ve found the one!”
Shi Xingwan was surprised at how happy his son was so he asked, “My child, what cultivation did you pick?”
Shi Li answered, “The Omnipotent Self Art.” Shi Xingwan was aghast at what his son picked. He then stutteringly asked his son, “My child, d-d-did I hear it wrong?” Shi Li answered with a simple, “No, you didn’t Father.’
Shi Xingwan calmed down and asked Shi Li seriously, “Are you sure that this is the technique you want to cultivate? Not even one of our clan members has successfully cultivated it. You can’t turn back.”
Shi Li firmly answered, “I know my limits, Father. This is the one for me. I’ll make sure to not disappoint you at all.”
Shi Xingwan smiled and laughed at his son’s answer.
‘If you could only see this Wei’er. Our son has now changed. I’m sure he’ll become someone great…’
