With Xiao Hei’s answers leading the way, Shi Li and Cai Luiyin avoided the traps that were meant for intruders and easily made it to the end. In front of them was a small room with a pedestal in the center. This pedestal held a bottle with a greyish fluid within it.

Shi Li looked at Cai Luiyin and calmly asked her, “That’s it?”

Cai Luiyin giggled weirdly. “Yeah, I guess that’s it.”

Shi Li moved towards the pedestal and grabbed the bottle of greyish fluid. As he looked at the bottle closely, information about the bottle was sent into his mind.

‘Essence of the Anima, a concoction allowing cultivators to exponentially enhance their mental capabilities permanently. This effect can be toggled at any time. Side effects include becoming emotionless.’

Shi Li tossed the bottle to Cai Luiyin. “Read what it says.”

Cai Luiyin closed her eyes and opened it afterwards with a look of shock. “This bottle holds some pretty good stuff!” she exclaimed.

She continued, “But who’s gonna drink it?” She didn’t really want to drink it because she thought it would taste terrible. She looked at Shi Li and smiled. “Here you go! Drink it up!” She tossed the bottle back to Shi Li.

Shi Li received it and opened the plug. A scent of rotten meat covered the room in an instant. “Man that stinks!” Cai Luiyin couldn’t help but shout out. Shi Li took a deep breath and drank the fluid in one gulp.

Within moments, Shi Li felt a warm sensation moving through his body. This feeling went through his nervous system and circulatory system, only to reach the brain and suppress the emotional part of the amygdala [1] and enhance all the other parts.

Gradually, Shi Li’s countenance changed. From a young and naive cultivator into a scheming and cunning immortal that has lived for many years. His face that could express other emotions from before now became a face that was emotionless, heartless, and apathetic.

Cai Luiyin asked Shi Li, “Did it work?”

Shi Li looked at Cai Luiyin and monotonously replied, “I guess it did. I may not be able to express any more emotion but my mental capabilities have been enhanced tens of times.” He continued, “Wow, surprising.”

Cai Luiyin couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the last two words Shi Li said. Shi Li didn’t mind it at all, or he did but couldn’t express it. “Let’s go take revenge,” Shi Li told her.

Cai Luiyin nodded and they walked out of the secret treasury.

Hui clan.

Hui Fuming sneered at what his two servants said to him the day before. “Heh? Him annihilating the clan? Impossible! I’ll destroy him and get her to beg for mercy! They’ll know what true despair is!” he maniacally laughed.

Out of a sudden, a loud explosion happened within the clan, with horrendous screams coming out after.

Hui Fuming had a serious expression on his face. “What? How did this happen? Could it be…” a person flashed in his mind as he smiled.

“Hehe. Shi Li, prepare to be crushed.”

“So…how do we do this? Infiltrate their clan and kill them one by one or something else?” Cai Luiyin asked Shi Li.

Shi Li didn’t answer her question but instead headed towards the Hui clan gates. “Wait, what are you doing?” she curiously asked.

“It would be better if we just did a frontal attack. They probably have the infiltration tactic in mind. We’ll catch them off-guard with this one.”Shi Li replied, still in a monotonous manner.

“How do you know tha…oh yeah, you drank the fluid.” Cai Luiyin asked but remembered what happened a while back. She then followed Cai Luiyin as they headed there.

The two guards were nonchalantly guarding the Hui clan gates until a male and female pair came up to them. “Halt!” a guard said, “What are your intentions here? If it is not important, leave at once!”

“Oh. We just wanted to kill the whole Hui clan.” Shi Li answered. In a few breaths, he shot qi beams to both of the guards’ throats before they could even understand how they died. They fell lifelessly to the ground.

Cai Luiyin looked at the guards’ corpses and was shocked. Shi Li made a hole through their throats, without any blood leaking out. ‘Is this the potential of the fluid?’ she was left thinking as she followed him.

As they continued to head towards the center of the Hui clan, people were falling down one by one, due to Shi Li killing them soundlessly. This made the other clan members scream in anger and charge towards Shi Li. Sadly, it was in vain.

Shi Li still had a serious expression on his face all this time. He killed them all in one go. He didn’t care if one enemy came at him or one hundred. Because the only occupying his mind at the moment, was to annihilate the Hui clan.
