“Eh? System, what’s this?” Illis asked.
The system respectfully replied, “This is the attribute section where you can add your hardly earned points to a certain route of genetic modification. Once you add a point into one of those routes, the system shall instantly modify your genetic code, enhancing your body in many ways.”
Illis nodded in understanding. “So what do these routes offer?”
The system processed Illis’s question for a while and explained, “The first route is the Muscle Enhancement route which allows your muscles to be more firm and dense, allowing you to attack with higher force and move with higher speed.
The second route is the Energy Sensitivity route. This allows you to sense the worldly energy around your surroundings and turn them into your own usable energy.”
Illis was confused. “I thought Animas couldn’t delve into the path of energy refinement?”
The system explained, “Lately, there have been genetic mutations that allowed some Animas to use a special type of worldly energy. For them, by absorbing the worldly energy and then infusing their own soul power into it, the energy would end up being usable by those Animas. This energy was termed “mana” by those Animas.”
Illis then asked, “So that means I have the same genetic mutation like those other Animas?”
The system instantly answered, “It seems so.”
Illis put all of that information on the back of his head and asked, “What does the last route offer then?”
The system replied, “The last route is for those who are proficient in sneak attacks. It allows their body to blend in with the surroundings, which makes them invisible to the predators. Once they get close enough, they could plant a sneak attack which can kill those predators in one go.”
“What would you choose?” the system added.
Illis thought about it for a while and decided to choose Energy Sensitivity since he had the genetic mutation. Gradually, he was getting close to touching the “Energy Sensitivity” button, until all of his cells screamed out as if to say that he’s making the worst decision of his life.
Illis calmed his body down and thought over it again. He put his finger again on the same button, only to be shocked as his finger moved upwards without him doing so.
What was the button above Energy Sensitivity? Muscle Enhancement.
‘Are my cells saying that this route is the best for me?’ he thought to himself.
He shrugged his shoulders thinking whatever. He does have amnesia so he may regret not picking it. He tapped the “Muscle Enhancement” button and waited for the system to do its job.

Muscle Enhancement – 1/5
You have chosen the Muscle Enhancement route.
Modifying genetic code…
——–
Within seconds, he felt his body become a bit heavier and his skin become more tight. It felt like his previous self was just some weak animal that he could crush in one blow. Unable to contain the strong energy within his body, he let out a roar to release all the extra energy he had.
This roar he let out reached all of the animals within a 10 meter radius and…killed them.
‘Eh?’ Illis was shocked.
Suddenly, a notification popped up on his holographic screen.
——–
Custom Skill created!
“Tyrant’s Roar” has been added to the Skills section.
——–
He saw the notification on his screen but didn’t touch it for a while since he was still in the process of modification. Minutes later, he sat down on the grass and looked at the screen.
“Skills.”

“Hmm…let’s see what’s this Tyrant’s Roar is all about,” Illis muttered out.
——–
[Tyrant’s Roar] Lvl. 1
Experience: 20/25
Allows the user to let out an earth-shattering roar that reaches all enemies within a 10 meter radius of the user, killing all enemies at the same level of the user and suppressing enemies at a higher level than the user.
——–
Illis’s eyes widened in surprise.
“This is amazing!” he shouted.
“But first…” he muttered softly, “I need to see how much stronger I’ve become.”
He clenched his fists and tried to familiarize with his newfound strength while searching for a test dummy. A few minutes later, he finally found a deer.
“It’ll be you then,” he smiled lightly.
With his full power, he dashed towards the deer.
“Identify.”
——–
Yellow Deer Lvl. 1
Experience: 15/20
HP: 20/20
——–
The deer heard something get closer to it and tried to flee, but it was too late. Focusing all of his strength on his right fist, his punch landed firmly on the deer’s abdomen, sending it flying to crash on a nearby tree.
The deer fell down to the ground with blood dripping out of its mouth. Its vitality had faded away in an instant, leaving only a corpse. Its fur was still intact, but the insides were crushed into bits.
Illis didn’t care about all of this but instead looked at his fist. It was still the same fist but it could now exert a strong force unlike before.
“One point gave me this much strength already. I wonder how stronger I would be if I leveled up more,” he chuckled.
He searched for a group of animals to make them his new prey. He was moving through the tree branches, making sure to not make any noise in case they flee. Minutes later, he finally found one.
“Identify.”
Looking at his screen and seeing that their levels were at the same level as him, he nodded.
“I don’t know why I know this word and why I know the definition of it, but I’ll use it anyway. Time to grind.”
He jumped down from the tree branch and shouted out two words.
“Tyrant’s Roar!”
