Great Tyrannical Deity - Chapter 50
Dane coughed. “So for this preliminary tournament, we’re going to do it in a quick manner. 32 participants have signed up for this tournament so may I ask each participant to get a number from the box beside me?” He then pointed towards a cardboard box on top of a small table.
One by one, the participants grabbed a number within the cardboard box, Illis included. He looked at his number and saw that it was 25.
“Who could possibly be my opponent?” he asked himself.
While he was thinking of ways to defeat his opponent within a few seconds, a notification popped up on his holographic screen.

“Eh?” Illis was confused at first but he understood. He remembered about the man he beat up a while ago in the entrance of the town. It seemed that it had something to do with that.
He shrugged his shoulders and looked at Dane.
“Since everyone now has their own unique numbers, we will now start the first round. May number 1 and number 32 please get into their positions,” Dane announced.
Seconds later, the two people who had their numbers called by Dane got into their positions and started to fight. They used brute force to attack at each other, no care for defense whatsoever. Gradually, they accumulated injuries and bruises until one of them fell down and couldn’t fight back. In the end, number 32 won.
Dane nodded and continued, “May number 2 and number 31 please get into their positions…”
…
The past winners of the previous 6 rounds are as follows:
Number 32
Number 2
Number 3
Number 28
Number 27
Number 6
Dane looked at Illis and then looked at his list. “May number 7 and number 25 please get into their positions.”
Illis, who was napping under a tree opened his eyes and stood up.
“Is it my turn?”
Seconds later, Illis and his opponent were facing each other. His opponent was muttering something but Illis can’t make out what it was. So he asked his system, “What is that other guy muttering about?”
The system replied, “Your opponent is checking your stats and is trying to make a good strategy to possibly triumph against you.”
Illis’s eyes widened. “You can check other Anima’s stats? I thought I could only see the stats of those not of Anima origin?”
The system explained, “You can check on other Anima’s stats from the start. There were no Animas near you before so this system didn’t bother adding that.”
Illis frowned. ‘Why is this system sounding somewhat arrogant?’ he thought to himself.
He shrugged his shoulders and commanded, “Identify.”

“So he took up the route of mana wielding,” Illis muttered to himself.
“System, what’s this [Mana Manipulation] skill?” he asked.
The system replied, “When one strengthens themselves through the route of mana wielding, one must know how to use their mana. From summoning all of the mana within your body to utilizing it to create weapons of different shapes and sizes. That is what we call [Mana Manipulation].”
Illis nodded in understanding.
“I’ll just beat the hell out of him in one go, I guess.”
…
Dane looked at the two of them and asked, “Are you ready?”
They both nodded as a sign of affirmation.
Dane shouted, “Now may the two contenders…fight!”
Illis’s opponent channelled all of the mana within his body onto his palm and manifested a sword that was of average length. It was a curved sword but it was rough in shape, showing that the opponent had little to no practice when it came to mana wielding.
“Here I go!” he shouted.
The man dashed towards Illis, aiming to strike towards Illis’s chest. Illis, on the other hand, crossed his arms to defend from the attack. He focused all of his strength on his arms and closed his eyes.
Everyone expected to hear the sound of flesh being torn but what they heard instead was a loud clang. The man flew backwards from the recoil of the hit while Illis…was where he was.
He opened his eyes and looked at the man.
“Eh? Illis was shocked. The man was on the ground, grimacing in pain. His mana sword dissipated as he curled up, holding onto his legs.
“Aghhh…” the man shouted out, “Aghhh…I concede…”
Dane’s eyes widened in surprise then nodded. “Number 25 is the winner for this round. May both of you please leave the stage.”
‘Eh? Is the opponent weak or is Illis just that strong?’ Dane thought to himself.
Illis went up to the man and helped him get up with some effort.
“Thanks,” the man said. “You have some strong muscles. Guess I can’t beat a level 2 like you.” The man wryly smiled.
Illis had a worried expression. “I’m sorry. Does it hurt?”
The man replied, “It’s fine. It’s just a little bit of wounds. It can heal with time.”
He sighed. “If only I hadn’t met you in this preliminary round, I may have gotten closer to that final tournament.”
Illis replied, “Your sword skills are pretty good, I think. I have a feeling that in the future, you may become someone strong in this world. Just train harder.”
The man smiled. “Thanks, I will. What’s your name?”
Illis smiled back. “I’m Illis. You?”
The man replied, “Elon.”
Illis smiled. “Hopefully I can see you in the future.”
…
Dane announced, “May number 8 and number 24 please get into their-”
“Hold it!” Illis interrupted Dane from continuing.
Dane looked at Illis and asked, “What’s wrong Illis?”
Illis fiddled with his hands and awkwardly chuckled. “So where’s the prize?”
Dane instantly had a grim expression. He coughed and replied, “If you’re the winner of the preliminary rounds, you’ll get it.”
Illis made an “ahh” sound in understanding and sighed.
“Guess I won’t get the experience right now then,” he muttered.
Dane coughed again and muttered, “Are you really here for the tournament or the prizes?”
