Great Tyrannical Deity - Chapter 69
“Well anyways, let’s get back to Master and Dane,” Illis urged Maxwell.
Maxwell nodded and they turned around to walk back.
Minutes later, Maxwell and Illis looked at Terry and Dane, only to jump backwards out of shock.
The sight in front of them wasn’t normal at all. Dane was licking Terry’s feet numerous amounts of times. If they counted the times Terry’s feet were licked even before they came, they’d be speechless.
Maxwell coughed. “W-what is going on here?”
Gradually, Dane opened his eyes from the bootlicking, being jolted back to reality. He instantly stood up and wiped off the dust on his clothes.
He looked at Maxwell and Illis and wryly smiled. “You caught us at a wrong time hehe. It’s not what you think it is.”
Illis tilted his head, only to widen his eyes on his sudden realization. He looked at Maxwell, just to see that Maxwell was also looking at Illis.
Maxwell thought it was impossible. Illis thought of the same thing as well. Seconds later, Maxwell muttered softly, “Did they…do the deed?”
Illis nodded. “It seems likely.” He looked at Terry, hoping to get a truthful answer.
“Master, did you two do something while we were away?”
“Huh? What?” In a few seconds, Terry was jolted back from his daze, to see Maxwell and Illis staring at him intently. He then coughed lightly.
“We didn’t do anything of that sort. I just gave him some tips on his path of modification, that’s all.”
Dane nodded furiously at the statement. “We really didn’t do anything like that!”
“Heh…” Illis and Maxwell’s eyes squinted, still showing some doubt.
Maxwell then sighed. “If you say so. Let’s get into the arena.”
…
The four of them took their seats, waiting for the event to start. Illis looked around and saw that there were many people.
“Hey! Hey Maxwell!” Illis smiled. “Why do you think these people are here?”
Maxwell replied with an expression of confusion, “Eh? What do you mean by that? Aren’t they here to watch the show?”
Illis nodded. “Well yeah, but some of the people are young, almost at the same age as us. How about them?”
Maxwell’s eyes lit up, understanding what Illis meant. “Those people huh? They’re the competitors we’re going to face in the tournament.”
“Really?!” Illis’s eyes lit up with fervor. “I want to fight them right now!” He then stood up from his seat, wanting to charge towards them.
Maxwell stood up as well, blocking Illis from moving any further. Terry saw this and said to Illis, “Don’t make a move just yet Illis. Sit down and examine them first. They’re your competitors for a reason.”
Illis sat down with an expression of disappointment. He really wanted to fight them.
Maxwell came closer to Illis and said, “Well…to pass the time, I could tell you the specialties of some of the competitors.”
He continued, “Dane told me to research on some of the competitors I’ll have to face in the tournament, so I have a bit of background knowledge on them.”
Illis nodded and smiled. “Please do!”
Maxwell looked at his surroundings, to then point out at a certain person minutes later. The person had jet-black hair and a chilling aura. A scar ran down in between his eyebrows to his left cheek.
Maxwell took a deep breath and explained, “That guy’s name is Zelos. He’s considered the strongest uprising assassin within this city. He’s affiliated with the Void Mark Academy, specialized with the same path he’s taking.”
“So far, he has killed 342 people, and all of these people didn’t even notice that he was coming!”
Illis shivered a bit. ‘That guy is scary, I should keep a mental note on him.’
Maxwell turned to another direction and pointed at another person. This time, the person had a devilish aura around his body. It was also mixed with some traces of pure killing intent.
His irises are both jade green in color, while his hair is light yellow in hue. The muscles on his body don’t bulge out too much, but they seem to hold limitless amounts of power.
“That guy is Asura, an Anima who has taken the route of Muscle Enhancement, just like you. He pursues the ideology of ‘strength is everything.’ He isn’t affiliated with any academy, but almost every academy in the vicinity of the city wants to rope him in.”
He was going to continue onto the last competitor, but he suddenly remembered something. “I almost forgot, Asura has a bloodline. A strong one at that.”
Illis smirked lightly. ‘Heh…a bloodline huh? Well the question now is…whose bloodline is stronger?’
After that, Maxwell continued to point at another person. “This is the last one, he’s extremely famous.”
The aura around the person was gentle and calm, as if nature was by his side. His irises were ice blue in color, complementing his jet-black hair. His face seemed to be at ease…if not for the two blades that emanated killing intent behind him.
Maxwell shuddered a bit, composing himself in an instant later. “This one is Tian Auria, said to be a genius that could only be seen once in a hundred thousand years.”
“His specialty are sword arts, specifically dual sword arts. Anything that dared go his path would be cut into pieces by his two blades. He’s affiliated with the Ethereal Sword Academy. and is known to be the personal student of the headmaster!”
He then took another deep breath and looked at Illis. “So…are you ready for the tournament?”
Illis’s eyes lit up ever so brightly. It seemed to hold flames that won’t flicker even in the harshest of situations. “I am so ready!”
…
An Anima wearing battle armor walked on stage and looked at his surroundings. Gradually, he released his aura, expanding to envelop the whole arena.
The arena glistened in platinum, shocking everyone and making them look at the stage. Within a short time, murmurs could be heard.
“Is that a Platinum Body stage Anima?”
“That’s impossible! They only exist in legends!”
“It is my fortune to have seen a Platinum Body in real life!”
On the other hand, Terry noticed this and covered the four of them with his own aura. “Tch. Using your aura to inspect us all? What a cheap trick.”
The Anima on the stage had his eyes widen a bit. ‘There’s actually an Anima stronger than me in this arena? Oh well.’
Coughing lightly, the Anima started to speak. “Welcome to the Transcending Skies Anima Tournament. I shall be your host today. You can call me Leon.”
“In this tournament, we shall weed out the bad ones and pick out the best of the best. The goal is to let these geniuses shine brightly to reach the grand stage of Erudys.”
The Anima took a deep breath. “Now that that’s settled…”
“May the tournament…”
“Begin!”
