Great Tyrannical Deity - Chapter 74
Transcending Skies Arena, the next day.
Gradually, the seats were being filled. All of the participants looked at the stage with faint killing intent in their eyes. They were ready to crush the people that dare cross their path.
Leon walked up on the stage and announced, Welcome to the second day of the tournament! We shall now start the third round!”
Within seconds, the audience became silent, allowing Leon to continue. “The third round shall focus on duels. Since we have 128 participants, we shall split everyone into 8 groups, having 16 people within those groups.”
He then raised his holographic screen and showed it to everyone. “If you may look on your screen, there would be a button that would generate your group letter and number.”
“Groups range from A to H and numbers range from 1 to 16.”
“If you may…” Leon shouted. “Press on them now, participants!”
…
Illis heard this and looked at his screen with eagerness. To his surprise, what Leon showed was actually there.

Please press the button below (Illis Dawn), so that the third round can start smoothly.
[Generate Code]
——–
‘I don’t know how they controlled my system, but since it’s the tournament…oh well.’ Illis tapped the button and waited for his own number to come.
After a while, the screen gave Illis the code “B-4.” Illis knew that it meant he was the 4th participant in Group B.
He then looked at Maxwell and asked while smiling, “You done generating your code? What did you get?”
Maxwell lightly smiled and responded, “My code is G-12. It seems that it’ll take a while before we meet.”
Illis chuckled, “I guess that’s for the better.”
…
Leon looked at his screen and saw that it only needed a few seconds left for every participant to have their own unique code.
He looked at the stage and announced, “Let us now officially start the first round!”
All of a sudden, the stage sank down by a few meters, and 8 pillars rose from it. These pillars were 5 meters high and 20 meters in diameter. Surrounding each one of them was a Gold Body Anima to keep guard over the safety of the participants.
Leon looked at the setup and nodded at its quality. He then looked at his list and found good match-ups.
“When I call your codes, please head towards your respective pillars and start the fight.”
“First pillar: A-2 and B-12”
“Second pillar: C-7 and D-8”
“Third pillar: E-3 and F-11”
“Fourth pillar…”
“Fifth pillar…”
…
In just a few seconds, all those who were called went up to their pillars and started fighting. The Gold Body Animas conjured barriers over the pillars, making sure that the participants don’t fall.
The pillars were filled with flashing lights and graceful movements. Some were fighting battles of attrition, some were fighting battles of brute force, and some were fighting battles of technique.
But on a certain pillar, two people had an agreement on how they would do their fight.
“So, are you alright with that?” A man with bulging muscles all over his body asked.
“Seems fine to me. Shall we start?” Another man nodded at the question.
This fight was currently the focus for everyone since…Asura was one of the contenders!
Asura looked at his opponent and grinned. “Channel all of your strength okay? We’ll only do this one blow.”
His opponent nodded at the thought. The sword his opponent was holding slowly became brighter and brighter, bringing off an aura of purification.
Asura, on the other hand, focused all of his strength onto his fist. It was filled with numerous veins of shapes and sizes, pumping a lot of blood towards the fingertips.
After a few minutes, Asura’s fist was extremely blood red, somewhat steaming due to the speed of blood circulation.
On the other side, his opponent’s blade was shining bright rays of pure white, blinding anyone that looks at it.
Taking a deep breath, Asura asked his opponent, “Are you ready to go all-out?”
His opponent chuckled slightly at the thought. “As I’ll ever be.”
In an instant, the two of them charged towards each other, extending both of their weapons in front just to deal a blow.
On one side, it was filled with an aura of blood. On the other side, it was filled with an aura of holiness.
At the exact moment they were only a few meters away, both have released their true power.
“[Sanguine Burst]!”
“[Holy Light’s Judgement]!”
Bang!
Dust covered their stage within a few breaths, making it hard for the audience to check who won. But as the dust settled, they all broke out into a loud cheer.
The one standing was Asura. His opponent looked at him in disbelief. “H-How did this happen? I’ve practiced this move for a long time already!”
Asura looked at the opponent’s blade and understood. “Your blade can hold the move, but only to an extent. It seems that you need to change the shape of your blade to truly unleash the full potential of it.”
He then helped his opponent stand up as they continued to talk. Minutes later, the opponent smiled at him as he smiled back.
Seeing that the fight was over, the Gold Body Anima announced, “Asura has won the fight!”
…
On another pillar, a man was skillfully wielding his daggers as his opponent had no choice but to defend from it.
The one using the daggers was Zelos. It made the audience speechless as they saw him showing it to everyone, yet his prowess in it made everyone see that Zelos was a master of daggers.
Zelos looked at his opponent and sighed. He stopped attacking. “How about I just stand here and you attack? It seems kinda monotonous if we continue with this.”
His opponent muttered out in an instant, “Eh?” Then recalling what Zelos said, the opponent agreed. “Sure, sure. I want to show my strength too you know?”
Out of nowhere, a hammer appeared on his opponent’s hands. “I tread the path of Muscle Enhancement so I can’t really summon a mana weapon. But I’ll still crush you to pieces with this.”
Jumping upwards, the opponent smashed the hammer downwards, right where Zelos was standing.
“[Mountain Crash]!”
Most of the audience couldn’t bear to look at the aftermath of this situation so they closed their eyes and expected a loud sound. But instead, there was none at all.
‘Eh? Isn’t there supposed to be some sort of sound?’ The audience opened their eyes and looked at the current situation with shock.
The hammer couldn’t go all the way down as it was blocked by…a dagger!
“Eh? But that’s physically impossible!” his opponent complained.
Zelos put more force on the dagger and made the hammer fly out of his opponent’s hand, leaving the opponent wide open. Charging forward, Zelos made some slashes on the opponent’s armor, making it fall to the ground.
The opponent stood there with shock written all over. A few seconds later, the opponent could only respond with a stuttering “H-H-How…”
Zelos kept his daggers on his pockets as he turned around. He responded with three words, “High dagger mastery.”
…
Leon looked at his list and announced two codes.
“First pillar: A-10 and B-4.”
Illis heard this and stood up in excitement. He looked at the three and smiled, “I’ll bring back a victory!”
Minutes later, Illis was on his designated pillar with his opponent looking at him coldly.
The Gold Body Anima in charge of their pillar looked at this and nodded. “May the two of you…”
“Begin!”
Hey, Truedawn here.
Thanks for reading my novel as always.
Next chapter would show how far Illis has gone in his path of strength. But first, I want to play a game with you guys. It’s just a puzzle.
Each number corresponds to a letter: A is 1, B is 2 and so on.
It shall be implemented in the later chapters till the end of vol 2. Just be aware okay?
Power stones are greatly appreciated! OvO
