A/N: For those who have the other chapter 80 I posted, please read it again as the current chapter 80 is a continuation of chapter 79. Now back to our scheduled chapters.
________
As the four of them continued to walk through the pocket world, they saw many unique plants and creatures that couldn’t be seen normally outside.
“Oh hey, it’s a Ten Thousand Eyed Ant!”
“If you look to your right, you can see a Red Ember Flower.”
“Is that a Azure Soul Willow I see? I’m gonna need that!”
With the exploration of the four came noise. And with noise came beasts that charged towards them.
Wei Zilun snesed that a beast was coming for them so he said, “Wait here for a bit. I’ll just clear the way in front of us.”
In an instant, a sword materialized on his hand, which presumably came from his space bag.
Shi Li saw this and was amazed. ‘His skills in taking things out from a space bag is extremely top notch.’
Wei Zilun listened for his surroundings as he held his blade tight. A few seconds later, he jumped and slashed downwards towards a certain direction, resulting in a shriek not too far away.
The three looked at the direction of a shriek and saw a creature with its body cut in two. The cut was cleanly made, as if it was there in the first place.
Wei Zilun looked back at the three and said, “We should be more vigilant with these thing-”
A roar came from behind Wei Zilun, making him tense up in fear. He tried to retaliate at an instant, yet a half-second was all it needed to distinguish between life and death.
Without hesitation, Shi Li ran towards the creature behind Wei Zilun and condensed his qi into a javelin which rotated extremely fast.
“[Grand Qi Force], fourth movement, [Spiralling Javelin]!”
In a flash, the javelin pierced through the creature’s skull and crushed its brain into mush, making it fall on its side.
Wei Zilun looked at Shi Li and bowed. “Thanks for killing that one, I wasn’t expecting that another one would pop up so soon you know.”
“It’s not a problem at all. You did say that we should be more vigilant. So starting from now on, let’s stick close to one another,” Shi Li suggested.
The three talked about it for a while and agreed with Shi Li’s suggestion. They decided that Cai Luiyin should be at the center, Wei Zilun and Qin Huafei at the sides, and Shi Li in front, forming a T formation.
Slowly but surely, they carved their way through the trees and animals, forming a path of beast blood behind them.
Half an hour later, a tree that was multiple times bigger than the others greeted them. Its leaves were a light shade of pink as a flower that hasn’t bloomed yet was stuck on one of the branches.
Qin Huafei told the three to stay where they are, and they followed. She got closer to the tree and checked if it was the one.
A few minutes later, Qin Huafei grinned with excitement. “It’s the Nirvana Tree alright!”
She then pointed towards the flower on one of the branches and said, “And that’s the Enlightenment Orchid!”
“But it hasn’t bloomed yet.”
All of a sudden, Shi Li asked Qin Huafei, “I can sense a faint aura of otherworldly energy coming from the flower, is that normal?”
Qin Huafei looked at Shi Li and nodded. “That is normal. The Enlightenment Orchid holds a special type of energy that would truly make the Nine Thread Spirit Orchid what it is.”
“But why is the pocket world open?”
Unbeknownst to them, a plant coiled itself around Qin Huafei’s leg and raised her up to a high height.
Qin Huafei looked downwards and saw a giant mouth wanting to devour him. She then shrieked, “Ahh! Someone help me!”
Wei Zilun, who saw this, hurriedly went to the plant stem and slashed it off in one go, removing the bind on Qin Huafei.
Qin Huafei wiped off the dirt on her robes and bowed towards Wei Zilun. “Zilun, I’m so sorry that I made you do that. Even though I can kill it off with my powers, I still get tense.”
Wei Zilun looked at Qin Huafei and sighed. “That’s why I’m here. To fix your mistakes.” He lightly smiled.
Shi Li looked at Qin Huafei and then the tree. As he was pondering, he said to Qin Huafei, “Madam Qin, please step back.”
Qin Huafei was confused as to why but she still did what she was told. Shi Li then slowly got closer towards the tree and tried to touch the flower.
Yet all of a sudden, a plant hurriedly tried to coil itself around Shi Li, with the aim of making him unable to grab the flower.
“As expected!” Shi Li dodged the plant’s bind and let out a ferocious punch towards the plant’s stem, rendering it useless.
As he looked at the plant stem, three plants behind him flung their stems toward Shi Li, with the aim of binding him in place.
Shi Li noticed this ahead of time and dodged them all without a problem. He then retaliated back with three fists infused with qi.
Shi Li looked at the tree, then the plants, and then Qin Huafei. After a minute of silence, Shi Li had a hunch.
He looked at Qin Huafei and asked, “Madam Qin, if the Enlightenment Orchid blooms, do the plants actively try to get it?”
Qin Huafei heard the question shook her head. “No, not at all. Plants don’t have the sentience to do so.”
With her answer, Shi Li finally deduced the current situation they were in.
Looking at the three, he took a deep breath and said, “As you can see, whenever someone gets close to the tree, or more specifically the flower, plants actively try to bind them to make them unable to grab said flower.”
“I assume that these plants are here, since something or someone is waiting for the flower to fully bloom.”
Transcending Skies Arena.
Terry and Illis went back to their seat and watched the matches on the pillars. Not long later, Maxwell gloomily made his way back to his seat, catching Illis’ attention.
Illis looked at Maxwell with a serious face. “What’s wrong?”
Maxwell couldn’t help but give a dry laugh. “I lost the round, it was going to happen either way.”
Illis frowned a bit. “Don’t say that it’s fate. Think that it’s just not your time to shine yet. Everyone has their own destiny, you know?”
“Also” Illis put his hand on Maxwell’s shoulder as he smiled. “You did your best, so that’s great.”
Maxwell looked at Illis with confusion, which slowly turned into a light smile.
“You’re right. I did my best. I just need to put more effort than usual.”
Illis nodded. “That’s the spirit!”
Leon looked at his list and announced, “There are four participants remaining in the duel portion, so let us start the fifth round!”
“First pillar: B-4 and G-6.”
Illis noticed that his code was called as he looked at Maxwell. He pointed at himself and asked, “Did Leon call me?”
Maxwell nodded. “Yep, what are you waiting for?”
He forced Illis to get up on his seat and pushed him towards the stairs that lead to the stage.
“Go and fight!”
