Great Tyrannical Deity - Chapter 99
“With that, the first round of the competition is now over!” Elder Li announced after Shi Li was done with his attempt.
The speed at which Shi Li passed through the pit shocked him as well, but he knew that Shi Li was the inheritor of the Heavenly Fist Trials.
Lightly coughing, he continued, “We shall now move on to the second round, the duels.”
“Since there are only 32 of you remaining from the previous 152, grab a number within this box and wait for your number to be called.”
Elder Li summoned a box using his qi and let the participants grab a number one by one.
Shi Li scratched his head, looking at the current situation. ‘Why do I feel like its familiar?’
In an instant, a voice resounded throughout his mind, answering his question. ‘That’s because I have done this before in Erudys, Father.’
Who knew that the one that answered his question would be Illis, his mana clone.
‘Was there any flying? Utilization of unique techniques? Is it fun at least?’
‘No flying, no unique techniques. It was either fist fights, sword fights, or stealth fights. But yeah, it was really fun.’
“I see. Well if that’s the case, then I guess this round will be fun as well.’
After a while, it was Shi Li’s turn on grabbing a number. He looked at Elder Li and nodded. Shi Li nodded back as he grabbed a number out of the box.
It was the number 22.
Some people looked at this with curiosity, seeing how Elder Li and Shi Li know each other. Many theories were created, but they kept it to themselves, with those seeds starting to grow as the round starts.
The order of fights were in numerical order. The first number would fight against the last number, the second number would fight against the second last number, and so on. Shi Li calculated in his head that he was the 11th person to fight with another participant.
Elder Li manipulated the earth under their feet with his qi as he created an arena stage that was able to withstand the shockwaves from the fights and able to negate the shockwaves that could hit the onlookers as they watched the fight.
After this was done, Elder Li announced, “May number 1 and number 32 enter the stage.”
The ones who were called came up to the stage and bowed towards the opponent as a form of respect. They both unsheathed their swords as they were both skilled in the sword.
Instantly, both of them charged towards the other, slashing down as sparks flew in the air. The man numbered 1 took a step backward and made a circular slash towards the chest of the man numbered 32.
The latter saw this and hurriedly brought up his sword to block the attack. He also channeled his qi towards his feet as he prepared to use the energy from the sword hit to increase his movement speed. At that point, the latter vanished.
The former looked around his surroundings as he gripped on his sword tightly, remaining vigilant. Sadly, it was too late.
The latter was above the former as he gripped his sword with both hands, the blade facing downward. He stabbed downward, using his weight to increase the speed of the sword even further.
The former only found out the latter’s attack at the last minute and brought up a qi barrier around his body to hopefully protect against it. Yet the latter’s sword cut through the barrier like it wasn’t there in the first place.
The former hurriedly channeled his qi towards his feet at an attempt to dodge the blade. He dodged it barely, with his face pale as a white sheet as he looked at the latter.
Not wanting to continue any further, the former sheathed his sword and hurriedly bowed down at the latter before shouting, “I admit defeat!”
…
Half an hour later, Elder Li announced to the remaining participants, “May number 11 and number 22 enter the stage.”
Shi Li heard this and instantly vanished from his previous position, appearing on the center of the stage, shocking many people.
‘How did he get there so fast?’ This question was stuck on their minds for a while as their theories from before grew ever so slightly.
The participant numbered 11 came up on the stage about 30 seconds after Shi Li appeared on stage. Shi Li looked at the participant and was surprised that his opponent was a woman.
The woman grabbed a spear out of her space bag as she looked at Shi Li with a serious gaze. “Are you that Shi Li who crossed the pit in less than a second? If so, my name is Xue Lingfen and I shall be the one to take you down.”
Shi Li smiled lightly as he listened to the woman’s statement. “Well, I am that Shi Li from before. And about you beating me”
He clenched his fists, small explosions resounding from his palms.
Elder Li took a deep breath and shouted, “May the fight begin!”
In an instant, Shi Li disappeared in front of the woman’s eyes, only appearing above her as he aimed towards her head.
“That’s not gonna happen.”
The aura he released before in front of Elder Li was now focused on his fist, which radiated a faint red light due to his sharp killing intent. Hints of blue strands could be seen as well surrounding the fist, presumably qi that would increase the fist’s attack power.
The woman perceived that someone was behind her and turned her head around to see Shi Li aiming at her as he fell downwards.
She instantly commanded her body to turn around as she aimed her spear at him…but she couldn’t.
She was stuck in that position as she felt an innate fear from the fist Shi Li was going to punch at her. She felt that if she received the attack, not even a drop of blood would remain on the stage.
She closed her eyes, waiting for her imminent doom to come to her. Seconds passed by, and nothing happened to her.
‘Eh? Am I dead?’ She slowly opened her eyes as a big shock surprised her.
Shi Li’s fist stopped just a few centimeters in front of her face, with the qi and aura still spiralling around his fist.
In an instant, the aura and qi around the fist dissipated. Not long after, a large shockwave resounded behind the woman, breaking the qi barrier Elder Li created around the arena stage to protect the onlookers.
The barrier was broken and this left some participants with their ears bleeding even if they covered their ears.
The woman stood there in front of him for a few seconds, before dropping her spear as she kneeled towards the ground. A few more seconds later, a weak voice sounded out.
“I-I-I admit defeat.”
All the participants were silent looking at this outcome. Seconds later, incessant shouts rang out throughout the arena with cheers mixed in.
“Woah! Shi Li finished the fight with just one move!”
“That wasn’t even one move since he didn’t let it hit her. But still, Shi Li is amazing!”
“Shi Li is truly a dark horse with the prowess he showed!”
Chu Tianleng, who was still at a corner of the arena looked at Shi Li and grabbed on his sword that was still in its sheath.
‘Shi Li…let’s have a good fight later.’
Shi Li sat down on one of the seats as he looked at the arena stage with a mindset of someone that can see through everything.
As he sat down, Elder Li shouted, “The final fight of the first round shall now start. May number 16 and 17 enter the stage!”
Suddenly, Shi Li caught Chu Tianleng standing up as he walked towards the stage while holding on his sword.
Not long after, Chu Tianleng’s opponent came up on stage, looking at Chu Tianleng with a disappointed gaze.
“What a pity. If we haven’t met, you would’ve become renowned within the nearby cities. Sadly, you had to fight against me,” his opponent sneered at him as the opponent clenched his fists. This was a sign that the opponent was also adept at fist fights just like Shi Li.
Chu Tianleng unsheathed his sword that had the word ‘speed’ engraved near the hilt. He looked at his opponent and said, “I could say the same to you.”
Elder Li looked at the two of them before shouting, “Let the fight begin!”
Chu Tianleng’s opponent instantly dashed forward, reducing the distance between them within seconds. He raised one of his fists in the air as a spiral of qi formed just above his fist.
“Take this! [Spiralling Qi Fi-”
Before the opponent could finish reciting the move, Chu Tianleng appeared a few centimeters in front of the opponent as he infused his qi within the sword before waving it in seemingly random directions.
About a tenth of a second later, Chu Tianleng appeared behind the opponent, sheathing his sword as he slowly muttered.
“[Myriad Dragon Scale Strike].”
In an instant, the clothes the opponent was wearing was torn up into tiny pieces that resembled dragon pieces as it fell down to the ground. Multiplie lacerations also appeared all over the opponent’s body where the clothes didn’t cover, having the same shape of a dragon scale.
The lacerations weren’t fatal, but it was truly painful. The opponent looked at Chu Tianleng as he gritted his teeth and said, “I..admit…defeat.”
Chu Tianleng nodded and went back to his seat as he looked at Shi Li. He realized that Shi Li was also looking at him, so he transmitted a message.
“Let’s have a good fight when we meet up.”
Seconds later, Chu Tianleng received a message from Shi Li.
“Let’s have a good fight then.”
