- Chapter 314: Exchanging Information, Tracking the Protagonist
Jiang Chen looked down at the cultivators from the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star, his mind deep in contemplation. ‘These people… they are nothing more than a disorganized mob!’
‘The Prosperous Stone Immortal Star actually dispatched such a group to the Immortal Martial Continent?’
‘It’s not entirely surprising. They must believe that the Immortal Martial Continent has been completely taken over by the demon race, so they’ve merely sent these expendable individuals to gather information.’
At that moment, a man named Shao Ji, who was in the Transcendence realm, barked out an order, his formidable aura immediately pervading the surroundings. “All of you, shut your mouths!”
Without hesitation, everyone sealed their lips, too intimidated to utter another word.
Shao Ji scanned Zhu Zhihai and the others, speaking in a condescending tone. “I’ll be the one questioning you. What is the current situation in the Immortal Martial Continent? Who is orchestrating the grand scheme of things? How much territory has the demon race’s army claimed? What cultivation realm has their leader attained?”
Being a Transcendence realm cultivator born and raised in the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star, he regarded the Immortal Martial Continent, an incredibly barren place, with contempt. The people here were mere ants in his eyes.
‘That tone and attitude…’ Jiang Chen’s brows furrowed, a fleeting expression of disdain crossing his eyes.
The Prosperous Stone Immortal Star had betrayed the Immortal Martial Continent, neglecting it for over a million years, and now they were begrudgingly sending people. Yet the individuals they sent were a chaotic and unruly bunch, their arrogance insufferable.
However, Jiang Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly.
As the ruler of the Immortal Martial Continent and as the Villain, how had he found himself in conflict with the protagonist Mo Hao?
In the original plotline, was it because the inhabitants of the Immortal Martial Continent held resentment towards the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star, and thus, by extension, offended Mo Hao as well?
‘Mo Hao’s heaven-defying trump card is still unknown,’ Jiang Chen pondered.
‘First, I will play along with them and exchange information!’ With this in mind, he swiftly conveyed his instructions to Zhu Zhihai below using his divine sense.
“Hmph! What of the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star? This is the Immortal Martial Continent!” Zhu Zhihai responded with an ice-cold expression, spurred on by Jiang Chen. “You wish to learn our information? Then exchange yours first!”
“What? You dare to speak to me in such a manner?” Shao Ji’s brow furrowed deeply, but then he seemed to remember something, and his expression relaxed somewhat. “Fine, considering we are all of the human race. This is not the place to talk; shall we move elsewhere to discuss in detail?”
Hearing this, the other Transcendence realm cultivators present nodded in agreement.
In the assessment of the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star, the Immortal Martial Continent was initially thought to have been entirely occupied by the demon race.
But now, since the Immortal Martial Continent hasn’t been fully conquered by the demon race, it signifies that the continent still retains some strength.
At the very least, there are undoubtedly cultivators of the Transcendence realm present.
They came to gather information, hoping to earn recognition through meritorious deeds, and then return to the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star. There was no need to provoke unnecessary conflicts with the local inhabitants.
“Detailed discussion? Hmph, I’ll return your words to you, and I’ll reluctantly agree, seeing as we are of the same human race,” Zhu Zhihai retorted, acting under Jiang Chen’s guidance.
“Then please lead the way,” Shao Ji responded, a hint of disdain in his heart but maintaining a broad smile on his face.
“Let’s go,” Zhu Zhihai commanded, turning towards the headquarters of the Moon Plucking Heavenly Sect.
With that, the two thousand cultivators from the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star immediately fell in line, following closely behind.
“Mo Hao!” But just then, a scar-faced Transcendence realm burly man turned to Mo Hao with a series of cold, sneering laughs. “You useless thing, you’d best stay out of this matter!”
“You’ll be of no use even if you go, so you might as well find a place to bury yourself now to save yourself from embarrassment!” he spat disdainfully.
“Exactly!” Another cultivator chimed in.
“Mo Hao, you wastrel who’s only been built up through pills, I suppose even defeating me, a Peak-stage Dao Palace realm cultivator, would be a challenge for you.”
“A waste is a waste. Once your family perishes, you lose everything, just like a stray dog!”
Others joined in, their eyes filled with contempt as they glared at Mo Hao.
Even those cultivators with a low cultivation base joined in mocking Mo Hao. After all, for them, the opportunity to berate and insult a Transcendence realm cultivator was a rare treat indeed.
A Transcendence realm cultivator, and a former young master at that—how thrilling it was to jeer at him!
“Mo Hao, get lost!” A voice shouted from the crowd.
“Leave at once. Dream on if you think you’ll get any information!”
“That’s right, think about all the despicable things you’ve done. Scram now!”
The cultivators were echoing each other, and the atmosphere was becoming increasingly heated.
The scene had turned into a raucous gathering where a large crowd was ganging up on one individual.
“What are you doing? Why are you treating that cultivator named Mo Hao like this?” Zhu Zhihai, under Jiang Chen’s guidance, interjected with a furrowed brow.
“This daoist friend, that Mo Hao is merely a dandy wastrel. He hasn’t been shy about bullying others in the past…” One cultivator stepped forward, beginning to explain to Zhu Zhihai.
“I see.” Zhu Zhihai nodded and then urged, “But we are pressed for time. Let’s move on.”
His insistence somewhat displeased Shao Ji and the others, but they eventually agreed, temporarily leaving Mo Hao alone, and followed Zhu Zhihai.
A large throng of cultivators trailed closely, fearing they might miss out on vital information.
This was a matter affecting their very lives and livelihoods.
Soon, a massive assembly of cultivators gathered beside Zhu Zhihai, prepared to find a suitable place for discussion.
Meanwhile, Mo Hao lingered in place, his eyes ice-cold as he watched Shao Ji and the others, a sneer forming in his heart. ‘Hmph, you will pay a heavy price for your actions!’
With that determined thought, he turned and headed in a different direction.
‘He has willingly left the crowd,’ Jiang Chen mused to himself, observing the unfolding events.
‘When he’s alone, the chance of exposing secrets will be greater!’
‘Zhu Zhihai and the others are responsible for exchanging information, while I will personally follow Mo Hao.’
‘According to the plot’s development, Mo Hao, having been ridiculed and bullied, is sure to seek retribution quickly!’
‘Then, his departure alone is likely to attract someone who wants to take advantage of the situation, only to be humiliated and then killed in return!’ His eyes flickered, and his divine sense swept over the group from the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star.
Instantly, he found a group of cultivators with extremely low Fate Value, including an Early-stage Transcendence realm cultivator with a scarred face.
The Fate Value of this group was so low that it had reached a critical level, a point where disaster was almost certainly imminent.
‘These people are merely experience fodder for Mo Hao.’ Jiang Chen slightly nodded, keeping some of his divine sense on this group of soon-to-be victims.
Monitoring this group of doomed supporting characters would reveal protagonist Mo Hao’s movements!
Meanwhile, another part of his attention remained on Zhu Zhihai and the others.
Soon, Zhu Zhihai and his group, along with Shao Ji and a large crowd, arrived at the headquarters of the Moon Plucking Heavenly Sect.
Surveying the surrounding desolate environment and the cold, empty buildings, Shao Ji and the others didn’t need to guess to understand that most of the sect’s members had perished at the hands of the demon race.
Next, Zhu Zhihai, acting as the representative, began to exchange information with Shao Ji and his companions.
But Jiang Chen’s primary focus, of course, was on Mo Hao.
He observed Mo Hao leave the crowd and fly towards the distance. In no time, Mo Hao landed on a barren black mountain peak and sat down cross-legged.
