Greetings, Mister Principal - Chapter 152: Haze
Before entering the castle, Reiner cleared his throat and took out a document from his storage bag.
“Mr. Erubiorene, because your daughter has not completed her studies, this may violate rules under the “Underage Apprentice Education Protection Act”. Therefore, the Magic Association has the power to investigate what happened. I am the investigator this time.”
“Underage apprentice… What?”
William originally wanted to hear Reiner’s explanation, but what Reiner blurted out made him, who had been a mage for many years, more baffled than he had ever been in a long time.
“The Underage Apprentice Education Protection Act. I should mention that this is a law that has not been officially passed yet and is being drafted.”
Reiner said solemnly, showing the signature of President Demetrius in the document.
This document was crafted by Reiner and several high-level mages during their meeting in the previous days, but it had not been submitted to the Magic Association yet. Reiner borrowed a copy of the draft, thinking that it might be helpful in the future, but he didn’t expect it to come in handy immediately.
“This law is being designed to protect the right of apprentices to receive a complete magic education. His Excellency Hermann Braggs proposed to establish a magic academy in order to popularize magic. Now, many people have forgotten the original intention of…. Uh, Mr. Erubiorene, I’m not talking specifically about you…”
Reiner glanced at them. Judging from the attitude of the father and son, they still retained the pure-blood mage’s discrimination against the emerging mages. The reason why Elymia was sent to Luna Nova Magical Academy was probably because of the academy’s long history. It was one of the few magic academies that have existed since the ancient magical empire.
“Because of beliefs or economic reasons, apprentices are often forced to interrupt their magic education. This is going against the philosophy of His Excellency Braggs. This law is to prevent that from happening.”
William glanced over the document quietly. He looked at President Demetrius’s signature before nodding.
“I see, Mr. Ian Gray, this way please.”
Reiner escorted Claire through the broken gate and they walked into the castle.
Quite different from its gloomy appearance from outside, the castle was full of vitality. The neatly trimmed vegetation was dotted with various unnamed flowers. Reiner even saw some unique magical creatures in a corner of the castle. There were several of them. Reiner had seen them in books and they were quite rare.
“Is it okay for us to walk in like this? Don’t you worry about them imprisoning us?”
Whispered Claire who had a hold of the corner of Reiner’s clothes from the moment they entered the castle. She was looking around anxiously, as if she was afraid that some beasts would suddenly come out of the grass and snatch her away.
“Don’t worry.” Reiner shrugged.
“The series of actions I just made were to dispel this kind of thought.”
From revealing his identity to showing the documents, Reiner’s actions had a singular purpose. It was to declare to the Erubiorene’s family that his whereabouts were known by high-level mages. Yes, it was like saying, “I am backed by everyone from Mercury Balance,” So they would not dare to act rashly.
In fact, the 27 families of the pure-blood faction had some foundation in the mage world, but at the same time, this faction was also intimidated by the Magic Association. If they were caught violating the mage rules, then the Magic Association may be very happy to arrest them all in one fell swoop. From this point of view, it was not that Reiner needed to beware of Erubiorene’s family, but that they must beware of Reiner.
Under these circumstances, even if Reiner had an accident that had nothing to do with the Erubiorene family, the entire Erubiorene family may have to suffer. William naturally could not put his entire family in crisis just to vent his dissatisfaction. Instead, he had to properly protect Reiner. It could be said that it was much safer for Reiner to stay in this castle than in the Luna Nova Magical Academy.
As Reiner finished explaining to Claire in a low voice, they arrived at a separate courtyard of the castle. It appeared to be a place used for meeting ordinary guests.
The hall was full of classical and luxurious decorations. On the wall facing the door hung a portrait. It was a male mage wearing heavy clothes. He looked a bit like William. This must be the first head of the Erubiorene family.
“Please sit.”
William was sitting in the main seat, while Reiner and Claire were sitting in the side guest seats. As for Edward, he could only stand beside his father and looked at Reiner resentfully.
“About Elymia, I don’t know why she didn’t come to participate in the magic test. I hope to get an answer from her.”
Reiner said straightforwardly without any greetings or polite words.
“In fact… Elymia gave up taking the magic exam by herself.”
William said slowly.
The maids served tea at this time. Reiner noticed that when one of the maids heard William’s words, her movement suddenly stiffened. He remembered the maid’s appearance and didn’t say anything.
“Probably because Mr. Ian Gray has just stepped into the circle of mages, so you don’t know that there are some unwritten rules in our long-standing bloodline mage families.”
“What rules?”
Reiner had already guessed some vaguely, but still asked.
“In order to ensure the purity of blood, we will marry people with the same blood. In fact, my two wives are women with the same blood as me, and Elymia will follow this tradition and marry my son Edward when she turns eighteen.”
William said quietly.
Although William’s words were very euphemistic, he was actually saying that he married his two sisters. And Elymia, as his daughter, would marry her elder brother.
“Edward already has two wives, Elymia will be the third.”
William said proudly and Edward beside him also nodded.
“Because of this, Elymia, who is about to turn eighteenth, will be preparing for the wedding at home. As for the magic test, naturally, she can only postpone it. If possible, she will participate in the magic test in the second half of the year.”
Although he said that, it was unlikely that Elymia would be able to go out of this castle again after getting married. Reiner knew very well that William’s remarks were just to avoid the Magic Association’s investigation. In fact, he did not want his daughter to leave the castle at all.
“How can you do this……”
Claire was shocked when she heard what William said. Although Claire had heard some rumors about bloodline mages before, it was still difficult for her to accept when she actually saw it.
“Mr. Erubiorene, I think you didn’t understand what I said.”
Reiner said in a deep voice, looking straight into the other person’s eyes.
“What I said is, I hope I can get an answer from Elymia personally.”
