Hacker System - Chapter 8 Visiting Yao Chen
After completing his assignment, he went on ahead and accepted three more assignments from HackersHaven.
–
After two days of hard work, Ting completed all three assignments. He earned a total of 1000$ USD from all five assignments he had accepted and completed.
When he checked the rankings on HackersHaven. He found that instead of not being on the rankings, he was instead in 978th place. It displayed T3ddyB3ar as his name.
After a moment when he completed the last assignment. The system notified him that the mission was completed.
[“Mission ‘Complete Five Assignments on HackersHaven’ has been completed.”]
[“Please collect your rewards from the mission menu”]
Ting was happy that along with earning some money from completing assignments he also gets the rewards for completing the mission from his system. The perfect phrase to describe this event is ‘kill two birds with one stone’. After reading the notification and hearing it. He opened and collected the rewards.

Ting now had 5300 System Credits. He thought about what to spend them on in his head. “Maybe a new course from the learning dimension.”
However, when he was thinking about what to do with the earned SC’s he remembered that he promised to fix Yao Chen’s Computer. So he decided that he would pay her a visit and fix her computer. Then afterward he would decide what to do later.
Ting closed his computer and monitor and got dressed. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts. His hair was combed and straight. He has a nice posture, and stature.
He opened his apartment door and went to the main floor. Unfortunately, the apartment didn’t have an underground parking garage but, it did have an outdoor parking space.
Ting walked down the creaky stairs with every footstep making the usual step sound and echoing in the stairwell. He went to the main floor and found Yao Chen was actually wasn’t at the reception desk today.
Instead, he found that it was the other lady who was at the reception today. Since how could there be only one receptionist for an entire building.
It was good timing since he could go fix Yao Chen’s computer without affecting her job as a receptionist. But then he remembered that he didn’t know which room Yao Chen lived in.
“Good afternoon.” Ting greeted.
“Oh, Ting Wo, good to see you. How are you?” She asked.
“I’m good. And you?”
“I’m doing fine. Where are you going this late in the afternoon?” She asked
“Oh, I’m going to fix Yao Chen’s Computer which broke down a while ago. However so don’t know what room she lives in. Can you please tell me what room she’s in?” Ting asked.
“Oh, that’s very nice of you. She lives next to my room in room 4. It’s down this hall over there.” She points to her right, opposite to where Ting was.
“Thank you, if you have any problems with any computer you can call my apartments phone anytime. I’m sure to pick up if I’m here.” Ting thanked her and walked in the direction she had told him and looked for room 4.
Ting was surprised to see that the hall didn’t look too bad. It was very clean with a nice red carpenter and sky blue walls. It was different from the hallway to the stairwell. He could tell that not many people walk through this hallway.
However, the hallway was clean and had a nice smell like a lily. When he got to some doors he read the number 10. From where he was standing he could already see the end of the hallway. There weren’t many rooms in this hallway probably because only employees or the owner would live here.
But would an owner of the building who collects rent from everyone in the building live here? No of course not unless he liked the antiquity feeling you get when the building is old.
However enough rambling. Ting walked down this hallway counting from 10 all the way until he reached number 4. The wooden brown door was kept well so it didn’t look too old.
Ting knocked on the door 3 times. He waited and heard some noises coming from inside. He knew that they had just woke up and was trying to get dressed. Then after a few moments, the sounds came closer to the door. Then he saw an eye looking through the peek hole of the door.
Afterward, he heard the chains slide and then the door opened as he was welcomed in by Yao Chen with a friendly smile.
Ting didn’t notice this before but when he paid more attention he found out that even though Yao Chen was in her sixties, she still had smooth skin. He knew she kept her skin well.
As Ting entered he looked around. It was a lot bigger than his apartment room. There was a small kitchen to his left and a living room with a couch, a coffee table and a television set on a table. To the side of the couch was a desk that could be used for writing or reading. In addition to the desk was a white lamp.
If he goes a bit further to the left was a room and a bathroom. The same goes for the right however to enter the bathroom you walk through a walk-in closet.
He also noticed a table on his right-hand side. He guessed that was where you eat food. “Nice apartment room.” Ting complimented.
“Thanks, it’s very spacious here. She went to the kitchen and came back with a tea set. Yao Chen poured him tea. “So I assume you’re here to fix my computer today.
“Yeah, you’re right. Can you take me there?” Ting asked.
“Enjoy some tea first. We have the whole afternoon. Unless you got things to do.” Yao Chen said unwaveringly.
“No, I finished what I was doing today so I had some free time today. Therefore since I had some free time, I came here.” Ting explained.
–
After finishing the tea, Yao Chen took him into her room. On a wooden desk was an old black monitor. And on the floor was her desktop computer.
Ting got to work by pressing the power button to look for any beep codes (Error codes, a beep sound in a certain pattern could be found on your manufacturers manual.). Ting heard the beep code and determined that it was a problem with the memory.
“It might be a problem with the memory.” Ting analyzed.
“Wow, you can tell that fast?” Yao Chen was surprised by how quick he found a problem.
“It’s a possibility. There might be other issues though.” Ting corrected. Ting skillfully and carefully unplugged the power to the desktop tower. He then quickly took off the cover and pressed down and removed the RAM (Random Access Memory). He quickly brushed the golden part of the RAM where it does the connection to the motherboard.
Then he inserted it back into the RAM slot, plugged in the power, then turned it on. When it was booting up it didn’t give any beep codes so Ting thought that might’ve fixed it.
After a moment or two, the screen showed the login screen and Ting knew it was fixed. “Everything was fine it was just the dust had built up and the motherboard couldn’t detect the RAM in the RAM slot. Everything should be as good as new now” Ting explained.
“Thank you so much!” Yao Chen thanked. “Please have more tea. This is the only way I could repay you.”
“All right, I’ll have some more tea then.” Ting accepted with a smile on his face.
After an hour of drinking tea, Ting left her room and went to a cafe to think about what to do now.
“Maybe I should go through my missions for my system,” Ting suggested to himself. “Also since I have more System credits I should take more time to check out what I can get from the shop.”
Ting head back to his apartment and went to sleep. He slept soundlessly and had a dream with one of the girls he was interested in during high school. He slept with a smile on his face.
–
When he woke up he found that he had a stain in his underwear. He quickly forced a smile as he changed and took a look at the systems shop.
