Happy Endings Are Lies - 25 Chapter 24-I promise
Reaching the gate of the city of Avalon, which is the main city under the rule of my father, the bustling streets were busy with street vendors and children were busy running around. Moving his arm that was blocking his eyes from the sun rays coming from the window while lying down on the seat cushion, “It’s so lively out there.” There were noises of people chit-chating with each other all around. It was especially noising for Denear because his hearing was very good and he could ear things clearly even a kilometer away, so as prevention he created a magic tool to reduce his hearing by a lot.
The magical tool was like contact lenses but are sticky and comes in pair. You just stick them to the side of your ear and viola! Just a little bit of adjusting to make your hearing that of a normal person. It is more like hearing aids but like on a more higher level. However, if a normal person were to wear the “hearing aids”, it would make them completely deaf unless they take them off. Taking them off is not as easy as it sounds but more on the difficult side, a certain amount of magic power has to be inserted. Also, it’s disadvantage is that only it’s creator can freely take them off or put them on. So it’s not something you can make money out of.
“Hey stop the carriage!” Denear said to the carriage driver. The carriage came to a full stop in the center of the road. He had just smelled something very familiar. He came out of the carriage and went inside a shop. “This please, oh and this!” It was another sweet shop. “OK kid!” Said the shop owner. He had just eaten a bunch of sweets along the whole trip so his sweet tooth was satisfied. Though he could still eat a mountain of sweets whether he’s full or not.
After feeling great and filling his stomach with sweets, he went back inside the carriage. The guards were very patient with Denear and waited till he finished before setting out for the Cornelius Estate which was just straight ahead.
When the carriage reached the Cornelius Estates’s front gate, a line of maids waited for them on the main door. There were more or less 20 maids lining up on each side of a red carpet which led to the inside of the mansion. The carriage stopped exactly at the center of the red carpet like the ones in those rich kid genre anime that seems like it was practiced over and over again.
The carriage door was opened by the coachman in a very professional manner. Denear stepped out of the carriage and walked on the red carpet with the guards walking behind him. He just walked in a very casual manner while the maids greeted him at the same time. “Welcome home young master Denear!” They all wore bright smiles while greeting him.
Denear just gave a slight bow with his head and continued on walking inside.
…
Inside
More maids greeted him while a man stood on the top of a staircase which was in the middle of the entire room. A nice glass chandelier was hanging at the center of the room which practically made the entire room sparkle bright gold. The man on the top staircase walked down step by step with a beautiful lady clinging to his arms, both had bright smiles on their faces. When they reached the bottom, the beautiful lady said, ” Welcome home son!!”
“Congratulations! I’m so proud to be the father of a prodigy like you!”
Denear knelt down, he was being so formal even though he was talking to his parents. “I am honored to be called your son and am very grateful.” He said in a very sincere way. His parents were taken back by his actions and his father lifted him by the arms. “Why are you being so formal, you’re still 5 years old! I know it’s good to have proper manners and etiquette but that’s to much. Relax a bit and enjoy you congratulatory party.”
“Thank you father.” He broke into a smile thinking about how lucky he was to have such a nice family. For some reason, the maids who saw him smile were shocked a little. Maybe it is because he rarely smiles, like never.
The happy family made their way to the dining hall. To Denear’s surprise, the dining hall table was filled to the brim with all types of food. Denears personal favourite was the “Fish filet”. It was his favourite in his old world and taught the chef to make it while he was exploring the kitchen.
>>>[Fish fillet]<<<
A fish fillet, from the French word filet /filɛ/ meaning a thread or strip, is the flesh of a fish which has been cut or sliced away from the bone by cutting lengthwise along one side of the fish parallel to the backbone. In preparation for filleting, any scales on the fish should be removed. The contents of the stomach also need careful detaching from the fillet. Because fish fillets do not contain the larger bones running along the vertebrae, they are often said to be “boneless”. However, some species, such as the common carp, have smaller intramuscular bones called pins within the fillet. The skin present on one side may or may not be stripped from the fillet. Butterfly fillets can be produced by cutting the fillets on each side in such a way that they are held together by the flesh and skin of the belly.
Fish fillets can be contrasted with fish steaks (also known as fish cutlets), which are cut perpendicular to the spine and include the larger bones.
The french are awesome people. To be able to make something this good is just brilliant! Genius! They have my utmost respect! I salut all the french! Sorry I just love food though french is so hard. I fell asleep during my french professors lectures back in school. Anyways, there’s another reason for me teaching the chef. I found out that people who eat fish filet, their physical health improves by +10 on their status screen for like 3 minutes. I’m still experimenting on others food from my world. Apparently, there are some ingredients that have the same names from my previous world but for some reason, they taste way better! (most ingredients have the same names) I envy the people in this world to be able to taste such delicious food. Even plain bread taste nice!
Though people in this world seem to not like it that much. They are fools! But I can’t blame them.
In the dining hall, the happy family ate the delicious food quietly with smiles on the faces. Heins Cornelius sat at the center chair with his loving wife on his right-hand side and his beloved son on the left. It was a joyous celebration. He just found out a day ago from one of the guards that went ahead to report to him that his son was a genius among his peers! When he found out, he immediately sent messengers to call for the best well-known tutors and are expecting them to arrive tomorrow at noon.
Somewhere in the middle of their dinner, his father asked him to show his stat screen. He activated the skill [Status Changer] and the his stat screen (Again life system) appeared in front of him. He modified it so that the options in his stat screen would be hidden. Both his parents leaned over to see his stat screen. “My son is a genius!” Exclaimed his mother. “With wisdom at 1,000 you could become an apprentice scholar! You could be the youngest ever!!”
“More importantly…” Said his father, calmly. “You have four skills, which is very hard to obtain or practically impossible to obtain. Normal humans can only receive 1-2 skills at birth and if they are lucky enough, will obtain at least 1 more skill which is obtained through hard and treacherous training. So promise me that you won’t show anyone else your status screen unless they can be trusted. I won’t allow you to be used for others personal gain.”
Denear was touched to hear his father so worried about him.
“I promise father.”
