Haroon - Volume 1 Chapter 1 Part 2
Thus, the low-story Administrative Building had a striking appearance in the F sector.
“It would be so nice if I’m able to work in that administrative building,” Jung Min sighed while looking at the 12-story building.
When he entered the building, he noticed that, unlike his house and the majority of the F sector, the insides of Administrative Building were very clean and pleasant.
Jung Min felt so sorry to walk around the impeccable floors with his soiled shoes. So, he pulled his long coat’s collar that was reminiscent of a mop and hid his body inside so that his shabby and bony body won’t be noticed by other people. Nonetheless, he walked as if he was walking on eggsh.e.l.ls.
Fortunately, the Front Office was quite close to the entrance.
“Welcome! How can I help you?”
At the front desk, Jung Min encountered a female receptionist with a gentle tone and a pretty face.
‘Did she do plastic surgery?’ He thought while looking at a beauty that’s very rare in the F sector. Facing her, he shrunk even more.
However, her eyes glanced at him for a moment and then returned to the screen. For her, Jung Min’s shabby appearance was a common one in the F sector that wasn’t worth any attention.
Her indifference made Jung Min feel rather relieved.
“Um, today is my first day of adulthood and I’m here to register, ” Jung Min timidlysaid.
“Ah! You can ask about that at the 3rd floor’s front desk.”
Momentarily, the receptionist’s apathetic att.i.tude brightened up since it was rare to find people in the F sectorwhose birthday is during the month. Normally, only people from A or B Sector have their birthday during the month. This is due to an anomaly that happened two hundred years ago when World War III just ended. A huge asteroid came into Earth’s gravitational field and started to orbit Earth. Thus, Earth now had two moons. Strangely, since then, babies were usually born either on the beginning or end of the month.
‘Hmm… Is he an artificially contrived person?’ She thought.
She had heard from her job training that this was the year when the artificially inseminated children become adults. Also, she heard that quite a few of them have combat or special apt.i.tudes.
“Or, is he a outcast (or dropout) from a higher sector?” She thought. There were some people who were forced out to to the F sector due to their lack of talent or death of their parents. Most of them were born and raised in B, C, or D sectors, envied by the inhabitants of the Sector.
But when she saw Jung Min’s dusty face and untidy clothes, she became apathetic once again. She didn’t have time to pay attention to dropouts or losers.
When she finished her thought process, she then indifferently showed Jung Min the way to the third floor and continued on with her work.
On the third floor, Jung Min was introduced to the supervisor of the Department of Registration who had a silver medal on his right chest. He seemed to be proud to wear the medal, a proof that he served at the Union’s defensive army, and looked at the shabby Jung Min with a very condescending att.i.tude.
When the supervisor saw that Jung Min’s att.i.tude didn’t pay attention to him, he snorted with exasperation and searched Jung Min’s profile.
