Harry Potter: A Fan Fiction - Volume 1 Chapter 31 Diary
An initial GG can be seen in the cover of the journal.
1898 Holiday
A burning meteor streaked overhead as I was on my way to one of my secret laboratories in the countryside. I immediately cast a charm to make myself invisible and rode the broom from my case to the direction that the meteor went to. The meteor struck a small hill in a pine covered area. The blast radius was more or less about twenty meters in diameter as can be seen from my high vantage point. It means that the meteoroid must be really small if there’s any of it left at all. There usually aren’t so fingers crossed. It lied there perfectly in a soil mound at the centre of the crater. It’s… Its an egg of some kind filled to the brim with strange symbols making it look like a pocked design from a distance. I wrapped it in my old uniform and placed it inside my case. Well I tried to put it inside but it wouldn’t go inside no matter what. So I brought it to my lab like that.
I immediately took the book about known creatures that lays eggs to see whether this egg is something that a known creature birthed but found nothing close having runes in an eggshell is quite strange. Runes aren’t even a fully explored field of study. What sort of creature have birthed this egg?
Burning the egg. Check
Freezing the egg. Check
Coating the egg with blood from all sorts of creatures. Check
Rituals. Check
Forming a contract with the unhatched creature. Check
Hammer+Egg. Check (don’t try this again)
Time flew very fast, after a series of testing done to the mysterious egg. I found almost nothing about how to hatch it except that it is indestructible and is capable of countering when attacked physically or magically. The holidays are over and so I decided to bring the egg with me to my laboratory in Durmstrang where I can further my research about the egg.
All my attempts at hatching it failed.
I would make an omelette if it cracks open.
I will have to travel a little, but I will return for the egg. Maybe I should bring it and make it act like a shield for me. Imagine the glory of that. ‘The great Grindelwald carrying his egg all around Europe causing mayhem to the liberty of wizardkind’. Catchy.
Who am I kidding. Don’t hatch without me little egg. I’ll be back in a jiffy.
It was the last entry in the journal. A hundred years and he was unable to return. It was one of Grindelwald’s greatest worries. His egg. In Durmstrang. It might hatch anytime.
There was a puzzled expression in Viktor’s face as he went to a wall marked with an invisible marking and pushed it inward. Gears shifted and a small room opened revealing a pedestal made from marble and atop is an egg the size of a ball (basketball). Like how it was portrayed in the journal, there truly are magical runes in the eggshell but they did not appear random to Viktor. In fact it was very familiar to him, as he stood dazed while staring at the black and white egg in front of him with unfocused eyes.
