Harry Potter: A Fan Fiction - Volume 1 Chapter 43 Duelo
Days went on and Viktor took his time. He would often talk to Vivien at the Ravenclaw table during breakfast, lunch or dinner. As a Ravenclaw like Vivien nothing is comparable to the pursuit of knowledge and it so happens that hanging out with one of the school idols would be hitting two birds with one stone. Hanging out with Viktor is like bringing along a portable library with you everywhere, it seemed to Vivien that Viktor’s knowledge is very vast, well if she knew how vast it is she’d be in for another surprise.
The two got closer and closer everyday and are basically in a relationship if only one of them would already spill the beans and talk about their feelings for one another. Viktor didn’t know how to say it to Vivien afraid of failing and ruining what they’d already built, while Vivien as a proper lady wouldn’t normally take the initiative to confess her feelings for Viktor.
*sigh* The two of them couldn’t understand themselves, they didn’t normally act like this but here they are still awkward to talk hearts.
“Viktor Krum. I challenge you to a duel!”
‘It’s one of those days huh?’
Viktor rolled his eyes at the sudden declaration of a fifth year senior student. It wasn’t the first time that someone challenged him to a duel at the span of time that he stayed in Hogwarts. It began three days after he started hanging out with Vivien, some members from Vivien’s supposed ‘fan’ club couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to defend their idol from the beast that has ‘laid siege on her castle wall’, whatever that meant. They were mostly beaten senseless in one ‘flipendo tria’ spell without even being able to flick their expensive wands.
Thus started the line of challenges for Viktor, an almost daily task that he has grown very fond of as he got to legally beat up people while putting them in their proper pecking order. Some challengers tried the sword and some with magic, some with knowledge and others with potions, it didn’t make a difference as they all lost to the ‘peerless transfer’ in a landslide. They are incomparable trash in front of a true gem, some of them even dropped out or transferred due to fear and humiliation but the challenges continued albeit fewer and fiercer challengers came at him this time around.
“And how would you like to settle this master ******? You must know that there’s always a stake for those who wish to challenge me. Ten thousand galleons. If you can’t take out this amount then please stop wasting my….. time.”
A small pouch flew into his hand, Viktor opened the pouch, checked the contents and nodded his head satisfied with the amount inside it. He established the ten thousand galleon rule when the challenges started, it was one of the main reasons why fewer people are able to challenge him. Not many students can just dish out ten thousand galleons for a bet at their age. Their monthly budget wouldn’t even amount to five hundred galleons, actually not even two hundred to many students and some people don’t even have fifty, so the bet is a very lucrative amount that only few can afford.
“Heir Potter, would you please be our referee?”
Viktor tossed the pouch that came from ****** plus another one from himself to Harry who was standing not far from him while winking at the boy who lived with a smile. Harry quickly caught both pouches and checked their contents before nodding his head to both parties, clearly agreeing to mediate in this particular duel.
The students are already cheering for their champion while making side bets with one another. This also has been a common practice in Hogwarts whenever there’s duels for Viktor and some people are surely making tons of money from it.
“So Antonio Have you made up your mind?”
Viktor asked his challenger.
“Sword. Let’s fight using swords.”
Gasp*
There were talks of shock in the background about Antonio. It seems that the guy was rather famous for welding the sword in his earlier years in Hogwarts. Although sword fighting is treated as an obsolete way of fighting by most of the wizarding communities around the world, many nobles still practices the art in leisure, some very intensely and his challenger belongs to the latter one.
“Alright, suit yourself.”
Viktor took out a silver fencing sword from out of nowhere while his foe also prepared his rapier.
“Alright. I assume that both of you knows that the only rule is not killing your opponent. Yes? Great. Now I toss this knut and you two may start the moment it hits the floor. Understood?”
Both Viktor and his opponent nodded their heads in understanding. Potter became assured that they remembered the rules and took out a coin, with a flick of his thumb the coin travelled up spinning quickly into the air.
Ting*
Antonio suddenly vanished from where he stood and reappeared behind Viktor like he teleported there which shocked Viktor at the level of skill his foe was able to get himself into. The rapier was already swung downwards but was met with an upward guard and a horizontal counter swing after redirecting the energy from the blow. Antonio didn’t wait for the sword to touch him and jumped backwards like an agile monkey, shock is visible in his face, he trained all his life just to reach the peak of body strength, he was able to finally reach his peak and started improving very slowly from then on, his opponent being able to match his skills only means that he should be on par, if not stronger than he is.
‘Interesting’
******* smiled and rushed in once again, faster and faster are his strikes, aiming at the most vital parts that could have crippled or killed many of his peers.
“Hahahahahahahahaha! You are strong!”
******* is on a rampage. His attacks with his rapier carried a fierce red aura with each of his swings and his eyes are crazed he was laughing out loud like a s.e.x maniac who saw legumes for the first time in a while. He fully revealed himself in this duel. His opponent continued to retreat and defend with his sword like a snake waiting for an opportunity to strike.
