The sword rain was pretty much a pre determined fate as none of them missed a designated target, the rushing insect wave was put to a crashing halt as the Azjolians are now laying sprawled twitching on to the ground while being nailed by ornate golden swords.
“They are tougher than I imagined they would b-?”
Viktor’s speech was put to a halt halfway when he saw that the insect-men still are clinging to a thread of life trying to pull out the blades from their body without success as the blade seems to have been part of their bodies and would take more than strength to be removed.
‘hmmm. Interesting… What is the cause of this?’
[Analysing gathered data.]
[Unable to confirm the cause.]
‘Alright. I’ll keep attacking these things. Gather as much data as possible. Heimdall seeker of truth, come forth.’
An eye shaped object the size of a basketball appeared in front of Viktor. It was bare at first but it slowly began to become encased in blackish fog that it emitted from some sort of pores. The fog also behaves very strange as they seem to be diffusing like smoke.
This is a mobile laboratory and research, observation, experimentation site that Viktor named after the all-seeing god from the Norwegian mythology named Heimdall. The black fog-like thing it exudes from its pores are actually micro robots designed to gather and analyse samples and relay the information to its central core which is a very powerful virtual intelligence located inside the ball-like laboratory.
Heimdall slowly revolved around Viktor like a satellite, as its mechanical beeps sounded a bit like a pet who wants to be petted by its owner. Or it could just be me imagining things.
“They are pretty stubborn eh?”
Edward was smiling wide as usual while throwing his borderline insulting remark. Viktor on the other hand only smiled back at him.
“Your toys are not doing any better themselves. The mech touch looks cool though. Did you manage to find out why these things won’t die even after all that poison, curses, magic and physical damage?”
Viktor was looking at the iron legion, some of them are impaled in a pilar made from whatever materials that makes up the Azjolian exoskeleton. Unfortunately for the Azjolians the iron legion is not a living unit that will die from something like being impaled on a stick like a barbecue. The impaled members of the iron legion was soon able to free themselves and unleash their wrath upon the Azjolians, no matter how ineffective they may be.
“I was just about to ask you the same. These insects seem indestructible, if there’s no way to get rid of them, I hope you have a good way to disable them because my plan would be insufficient if I have to do it all on my own.”
Ed was shaking his head out of helplessness, the realm and its inhabitants are different from what he previously encountered. They are somewhat stronger and overall more capable than his previous assessment.
‘Something significant must have occurred within the realm…’
“Don’t worry about it. At this level what I can’t kill, I can at least capture. Damocles, activate second form to those that are currently in contact with the enemy! Vampiric snake chain, slowly devour my foes.”
A vampire does not absorb blood just because, there is a reason for it. A vampire is a spiritual creature that needs to replenish its spiritual power by absorbing the spirit that resides within the blood of living beings. They must do so to in order to live and grow in strength. This form of the weapon ‘Damocles’ was inspired by the vampire race’s ability and is also capable of spirit absorption. A slow and painful or pleasant process (depending on the vampire’s mood) that can ultimately lead to death.
From a sword, it began to transform into a golden thing that looked more like a centipede than a serpent unlike the name suggests. The feet-like structures slithered around to bind the head and limbs of the struggling Azjolians. The head of the “snakes” then bit down and began to absorb the spiritual energy of the Azjolians. In a matter of seconds, the battlefield grew ever so silent that a pin dropped would be heard.
“Have I mentioned before that you are sometimes very scary? Well you are. Remind me not to get on your bad side. Hahaha- what the-”

Just as Edward recovered from his initial shock, the earth once again trembled and a wave similar in size to the one before is once again rushing to attack the two of them while making their creepy bug sounds to communicate.
“Fools. There’s no end to my Damocles as well.”
Contrary to what he said, there is actually a limitation to Damocles’ powerful duplicating capabilities. The only reason why he stated what he said was to see the reaction of the opposition. In actual fact, Damocles is now at twenty percent of its duplication capacity, three more waves of similar magnitude would only mean that Viktor himself have to act. Something he didn’t want to happen.
