Harry Potter And The Lord Of Darkness - Chapter 11
Arth frowned as he messed around with his suit and bow tie uncomfortably. “Mom, Dad, why do we have to wear clothes like these? Can’t we just go wearing robes like we did for aunt Gertrude?”
Arth’s father sighed before giving Arth a pat on the back. “That is because your uncle is a squib and the woman he is marrying is a muggle woman. As his request, today we will be attending the wedding not as wizards, but as muggles.”
“Will there be pudding?” Asked Alice curiously. “I love it when they hand out small slices of the giant cake they have at weddings.”
“They will have a wedding cake my dear,” his father said while stroking her hair. “Oh, another thing I forgot to mention is that you should be wary of talking to no-mags at the wedding.”
“No mag?” Asked Arth with a curious look. “What is a no mag? Non magical? A muggle?”
His father nodded his head with a proud look. “Well done my son. You figured that out fairly quickly did you.”
“Why do they call them no mags instead of muggles?” Asked Alice as her mother brushed her hair. “Isn’t saying muggle more common? And why should we stay away from the muggles in America?”
Alice’s mother gave a smile. “Well that’s because of the international differences. We all have our own culture. As for staying away from muggles, MACUSA, Magical American Congress of the United States of America, have had a tight restriction about relationsh.i.p.s between non magic folk and wizards. Although they have somewhat mended these relationsh.i.p.s ever since the fall of Grindelwald, you can never be too sure.”
Arth’s mother stepped back to admire Arth and Alice for a bit before nodding her head in satisfaction. “They look perfectly muggle like Max.”
“Great, shall we depart then?”
“Do you have the international magical traveling passports.”
“I’ll go quickly find them.”
Arth glanced to the side and saw Alice fussing around with her red dress in an uncomfortable manner.
“How do I look Arth? It feels so… weird.”
Arth narrowed his eyes and scrutinized her before shrugging. “You look fine to me, a little unnatural looking but the same as ever.”
Alice groaned. “The things that muggle girls wear, its so horrible and restricting.”
“Witches also wear dresses too,” teased Alice’s mom with a smile.
“Witches wear…. this?” Said Alice in shock as she pointed at her dress in a disgusted manner.
Arth shrugged. “At least you don’t look like a moron. You would probably attract a few muggles or two. I, on the other hand, feel as stupid as I probably look.”
Alice shrugged before letting out a smirk. “You look fine to me, a little good looking and more… gentlemanly than usual? Maybe it’s because you don’t have a book.”
“Oh bugger off you.”
“Found it! Found the passports. Okay,” said his father with a smile. “Are you all ready?”
Seeing everyone nod, his father waved his wand and grabbed onto Arth who grabbed onto a few cases as they apparated into a large room with wizards and witches bustling about.
“This is a Wizard apparate rpg hunt hotspot. Americans have them all over the country. Quite convenient if you ask me,” his dad said, answering the unspoken question Arth and in his mind.
After his mother and Alice had appeared, they made their out of the building and called a taxi.
“Where to?”
“Er, is there a wedding going on here somewhere? I forgot the address.”
The taxi man laughed. “Oh, you are guests of Mr. Kingscrown? He is a good fella. Helped me with a rodent infestation the other day. Finally getting married to good young Angelina. Great couple of you ask me. It’s five minutes away from here. We will arrive in a jiffy.”
After driving a few minutes, the taxi stopped at a church and dropped them off. His father payed the man in muggle money before they carried their cases into the church. At the entrance was a man who bore great resemblance to his father.
“Max! It’s good to see you brother!”
His dad nodded his head and gave Arth’s uncle a hug. “It’s nice to meet you too. Who is this Angelina I’m hearing about? I heard that she is a kind gal, a lady who is very well suited for my brother.”
“And who told you that?” His uncle said with a blush. “She deserves better than be but since she agreed to having me, I can’t just say no can I?”
“Spoken like a true Kingscrown.”
“My god Max! These must be your children, twins?”
“My son is called Arthur, my daughter is called Alice. Both talented and wonderful children really. Pride and joy of the family.”
Arth and Alice did a bow. “Hello uncle Barney.”
“Hello my good children. You two are utter mirror images of your parents! What a wonderful sight. Come in Max, we are just about to start. And you too Diana, you and your children are welcome as well.”
And so, the four of them went into the church and sat down, waiting for the wedding ceremony to begin.
