Harry Potter And The Lord Of Darkness - Chapter 13
“He has a minor concussion, but otherwise, it’ll be alright. But he sill almost fractured his skull. He is going to have a nasty headache when he wakes up.”
“I’m relieved, after all, it was partially my fault for this.”
“Minerva, do not worry too much. You did your best.”
Arth heard voices talking and frowned. It was annoying, why couldn’t they just let him sleep? His splitting headache did nothing to make Arth any more sympathetic.
“What is the boy’s name Minerva? We should notify his House Head at once.”
There was a pause.
“I can’t seem to recall the boy’s name, although, I’m positive that he is a Ravenclaw.”
“His name is Arthur, Arthur Kingscrown, Professor McGonagall.”
“Thank you miss Granger, then I shall leave Mr. Kingscrown with you three as I head down to notify Professor Flitwick.”
Arth heard footsteps moving away from him and felt relieved. He could finally get some rest.
“How long do you think it will take for him to wake up Madam Pomfrey?”
“Somewhere between now and tomorrow dear. The more he sleeps, the less pain he will feel when he wakes up.”
“That was a nasty drop though, ain’t that right Harry?”
“Yeah, I’m honestly surprised that he survived without a helmet.”
“What’s a helmet?”
“It’s some sort of muggle protection thingy that-”
Arth let out a groan. “Can you guys please let me sleep in peace?”
“Arth!”
Arth opened his eyes and saw that four people were surrounding him. “Where am I?”
“The hospital wing. You hit your head pretty hard when Professor McGonagall knocked out the troll.” Replied Hermione. “The nice looking lady is Madam Pomfrey.”
“I hope I won’t see you again Mr. Kingscrown. Tackling trolls since your first year, I can’t imagine just how much trouble you will get yourself into.”
Arth gave a curt nod before facing the other two people.
“Why the heck are Ron and Harry here?”
Ron gave Arth a nudge in the shoulder, which made his headache worse. “We were the that called the teachers. Reckoned that you didn’t know about the troll and needed a heads up. Didn’t expect for you to be fighting it though mate. Bloody amazing.”
Harry nodded in agreement. “Dumbledore told Professor McGonagall, Quirrell, and Snape to follow us, just in case. He really is smart, predicting that something like the troll escaping the dungeons would happen.”
Arth sighed before lying back down onto the bed. “Ok. Now unless you have anything else to add, go away. I wanna sleep.”
“The four of us got five points each.”
“Great, now go away.”
“We really should go now,” said Hermione to the two boys, “it’s almost curfew and he needs rest. It probably hurts just to be awake at the moment-”
The doors opened with a bang and someone else entered the hospital wing.
“Arth! I heard about what happened! Are you ok- why are you here Granger?”
Arth recognized the voice at once and groaned. His beautiful sleep seemed to be far away.
“Greengrass,” said Hermione with a frown. “I could say the same to you.”
“I’m here because my friend was injured severely. I couldn’t help but feel concerned. What a pity that you didn’t take his place. It would’ve saved me from being worried, it may have even made me smile.”
“Well I’m here because I was a part of the very little incident that hurt your ‘friend’. He happened to be spending his time with me you see, instead of you.”
“Shut it muggleborn. You have no right to speak to me like that.”
“What’s wrong with being a muggleborn? I’m obviously more superior to you in classes. Jealous of my skills?”
“Just disgusted by how revolting you are. Don’t touch me, I don’t wanna get stained by dirty blood.”
Arth lied in his bed with hollow eyes. Each word of their argument sent loud bells ringing in his head, exponentially making his headache worse.
“Hey Arth, do something about this.”
“Bloody hell mate, this is getting really nasty.”
“Ron, about what time do you think they will start fighting each other? Ten minutes? Five?”
Ron hesitated before answering Harry.
“I think it’s going to be about seven. Wanna bet on it Harry?”
“Sure, a sickle?”
“A sickle.”
Harry and Ron were not making things any easier. Arth was reaching the point where he desperately wanted all four of them to leave and hoped for a miracle.
Arth’s savior was someone who Arth did not expect.
“You four! Stop bothering the poor child and go! I realize that you are very concerned for your friend, however, he is not in a critical situation! What he needs currently is a good nights sleep and a well rested mind, something you four are sorely preventing him from having. It’s almost curfew and I think it’s time for you to leave! Goodbye!”
Madam Pomfrey chased out the bickering Hermione and Daphne and the spectating Ron and Harry, causing Arth to let out a sigh of relief.
Once the doors were closed, Madam Pomfrey sent Arth a warm smile before heading back to her office.
Arth finally rested his eyes onto the bed and relaxed. It was finally silent enough for his head to stop ringing. Although it still hurt and times, it was a bearable to a point.
Sleep slowly called to him, luring him in softly and gently. Before he lost unconsciousness, Arth thought about Corvus having to sleep alone tonight and the unfinished books and homework he had to do. Would Corvus be alright?
There was a poof and Arth saw Corvus appear magically on top of his head before giving a worried little peep.
Arth chuckled at the absurdity of it all and closed his eye for the final time that night. He reckoned that he must be dreaming as birds did not have the ability to teleport from place to place. Even if they could, they wouldn’t be able to due to the magical barriers that covered Hogwarts. He read it in Hogwarts: a History.
