Harry Potter And The Lord Of Darkness - Chapter 14
Sorry about the inconsistency, I got sick XD
I’ll make it all up, how many chapters did I miss? 3, 4?
/—/
October had come and gone and it was now quidditch season. The first match of the season was an exciting one. Gryffindor versus Slytherin.
Arth would’ve enjoyed watching the match, if it weren’t for one small problem.
“Hey Arth! You are gonna support Slytherin right? I really do hope my house wins.”
“Hey Arthur, I hope you support me during the match this Saturday! It’s my first game after all!”
“To Gryffindor’s victory!”
Arth was forced to chose which team to support. “Gryffindor or Slytherin.”
In the end, Arth decided to choose the most effective choice. He simply didn’t go.
Arth spent his time in the library instead, reading random stuff that caught his eye.
The librarian, Madam Pince, lurked over Arth while glaring at him suspiciously. “Why are you here reading books instead of watching Quidditch like the other kids?”
Arth shrugged. “Wasn’t very interested. Would rather read.” It was also a pain to choose which side to cheer for.
Madam Pince narrowed her eyes. “No eating, writing, or doing anything that could or will harm a book.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Madam Pince sent one final look at Arth before sulking away, most likely to make sure that nobody else was in the library doing anything that might potentially damage a book.
The great wizard Merlin. . . . Alchemist Nicholas Flamel. . . . World renowned Wizard Lancaster. . . .
Time went buy quickly and Arth had finished his book. Arth scanned the library once again before being drawn to a pile of neatly organized newspapers in the corner of the library. He grabbed the topmost newsletter and began reading.
GRINGOTTS BREAK-IN LATEST
Investigations continue into the break-in at Gringotts on 31 July, widely believed to be the work of Dark wizards or witches unknown. Gringotts goblins today insisted that nothing had been taken. The vault that was searched had in fact been emptied the same day. “But we’re not telling you what was in there, so keep your noses out if you know what’s good for you,” said a Gringotts spokesgoblin this afternoon-
“What are you reading?”
Arth looked up from the daily prophet and saw that a girl, maybe a fourth year, had initiated a conversation with him.
“I’m reading the Daily Prophet.”
“Which one?”
“The one from a month ago, about the Gringotts break in.”
“Ooh! That was a very interesting one. Are you curious? How did someone break into the most secure bank in the world? Why was the said vault emptied on the same day?”
“Mmm.”
There was a slight moment of silence and the flipping of pages before the girl began talking again.
“My name is Sophia, Ravenclaw third year.”
“Arthur, Ravenclaw, first.”
“Ooh! You are in my house? I haven’t seen you a lot! I don’t recall you in the group of First years.”
“Mmm.”
Silence once again descended the library as Arth continued to read.
“Do you wanna join a club?” Asked Sophia.
“Not really.”
“Are you sure? It’ll be fun~”
“Nah.”
“Give it a try please? It’s called Mystery Club. We study modern world mysteries and try to figure them out! Plus, we already have four members!”
“Mmm.”
“Hey, you aren’t listening are you?”
“Mmm.”
“. . . .”
Just as Sophia had gathered enough energy to initiate another conversation, Madam Pince came around and glared at her, causing her to freeze in her tracks.
“Stop talking! Don’t you see the boy is reading? If you are going to bother people, then get out!” She hissed.
“B-but-”
“Get out now!”
Arth sighed as he saw the retreating figure of Sophia. He didn’t know that clubs were a thing at hogwarts. Madam Pince noticed his sigh and gave Arth a small smile.
“Sorry for that my boy. Most people do not realize the importance of books. It’s rare to see a young one like you reading so much instead of causing trouble and watching Quidditch games.”
“Thank you.”
“If you ever need any help, ask me. I’ll help you find a book that you either want to have recommended or need. Just treat the books nicely.”
“Mkay.”
When Madam Pince had turned the corner of a bookshelf, there was a soft pop and a fluffy ball of black appeared on top of his head.
“Hello Corvus.”
Peep!
Corvus nipped at Arth’s hair affectionately before settling down and going to sleep. The night Arth had slept in the hospital wing, Corvus had revealed its ability to teleport through the magical barriers of Hogwarts.
It was quite the surprise the morning after when he realized that Corvus had somehow made his way to him. Arth couldn’t help but feel excited for the day when Corvus would become an a.d.u.l.t.
Would he be able to teleport with other people? How many? Would teleporting her his only ability?
Arth’s checked the time and realized that it was about time for lunch and closed his newsletter. After placing all of the books and newspapers where he found them, Arth made his way down to the Great Hall to eat.
Immediately, it was clear to Arth who had won the Quidditch match. The Slytherin table seemed quiet and gloomy while the Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuffs were exploding in joy and laughter.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione noticed Arth and came over to him immediately.
“Arthur! We won!”
“Harry caught the snitch! Well technically swallowed it but still!”
“It was great! We won by one hundred and seventy points to sixty.”
Arth left the exhilarated Gryffindor and sat down. It wasn’t soon before a gloomy Daphne appeared before him.
“Damn it, our Quidditch team is useless. How could they not win at all? We had the perfect chance to win.”
“Mmm.”
Arth ignored his surrounding as he ate his lunch in peace and quiet, as if no one existed in the world except for him.
