Harry Potter And The Rise Of Golden Falcon - Chapter 47
After spending two weeks on my research, I finally came out of my lab. After I came out, I checked my schedule and found out that next Order meeting is going to be held tomorrow. Ah, almost forgot about the meeting of Dumbledore’s little cult. Well, whatever, not like I am going to formally join the cult. I am just going there because Tonks asked me to. Though I am going to maintain cordial attitude towards them because of Tonks, I don’t really need to subordinate myself to Dumbledore. But even if I am strong enough to act in anyway I want and can tell them to piss off, I am not dumb enough to do so. Why choose the route of villain like Voldemort, when I can easily portray myself the next lord of light, after Dumbledore kicks the bucket in almost two years?
No, I have decided to think of some bullshit reason to deny joining them. But I am not going to waste such good opportunity to increase my reputation of being a good guy. I will just offer them my support without actually joining them. Not like they can afford to reject my offer, as my skillset is not something they can afford to lose. Especially, since most of order members are almost useless like Weasley family.
This way, I still get to be seen as a good guy, without actually joining them and following Dumbledore’s orders.
Since I will have a good reputation in ministry, due to my support to Amelia, who is certain to become the next Minister of Magic, after news of Voldemort ‘s return goes public. This way, I will maintain a good reputation with almost everyone aside for Death eaters families.
Now that I think about it, Amelia should have made progress by now and should be cleaning ministry from death eater spies.
Its already evening, both her and Tonks should be home by now.
Thinking so, I went to dining room, as it’s almost time for dinner.
As I suspected, both of them were sitting at dining table. I also took my seat and greeted them both. They returned my greetings and we started our conversation.
“So, Madam Bones, how goes the cleaning of ministry? I know I was unavailable for last two weeks, but I would like to help in anyway I can.” I asked.
” No, it’s alright. Everything is going as we planned. Just like you said, Minister Fudge was very excited to offer his help when I mentioned about rooting out “Dumbledore’s” spies. He practically handed me all the authority over ministry personal. Though his secretary Umbridge protested very much against it, he wouldn’t hear any of it. He was so afraid of Dumbledore stealing his power that he didn’t even question me about anything. So, after I had Minister’s permission, I first started with Aurors. I spread the news of promotion to interview each Auror, one by one. Since I already tested Tonks beforehand, ahe disillusioned herself and stood in corner. Just as someone would enter and sit on chair opposite to mine, she would stun them from behind and dose them with Veritaserum. This way they got caught off guarded, without any preparation. After the questioning, we gave them antidote and obliviated them, replacing their memories with that of an interview.
After I was done with DMLE, Head Unspeakable was also done with his Department, just like I previously asked him to do.
After we were done with Aurors and unspeakables, we started cleaning out other Departments one by one, starting with Department of Magical Transportation, to look at Floo maintenance staff, as there were way too many Floo connections closed for maintenance, during death eater attacks in last war.
One by one, we have already managed to clean out almost all of ministry, aside for a few departments. Minister is also happy, seeing we uprooted many of “Dumbledoor’s” spies in last few days.”
“That’s good, at least now you don’t need to worry about any backstabbing traitors from the ministry. But there is only so much we can do. Until Voldemort shows himself in public, you won’t be able to increase number of Aurors and thus, ministry’s fighting force against Dark lord’s army.” I said.
” True, Fudge is too paranoid, recruiting new Aurors will not be to his liking. But, it doesn’t mean we can’t prepare meanwhile. Though number of Aurors is less than I would like, and their equipment is outdated due to budget cuts, I am still having them train hard and improve their skills everyday. This way, we can still have elite Aurors with high battle skills, though less in numbers.”
” You know what, I may not be able to help in increasing their numbers, but I can at least supply them with new equipment. I am sure I can fork out enough galleons without any trouble.”
” Thank you, Lord Canis, but I would have to decline your offer. Though I appreciate the sentiment, I can not accept your money.”
“Well, that’s alright. Since you aren’t accepting money directly, how about I just provide equipment to Aurors. This way, you won’t owe me anything, since I will be directly donating equipment to Aurors for their safety. As you won’t get any money, there won’t be any strings attached.”
It will actually be better for me. Had she directly accepted the money, others won’t know who to thank for their new equipment, aside for a few. This way, though I won’t directly gain anything, everyone in DMLE will know that it was me who provided them with new equipment, which might directly save their life someday.
“That’s very generous of you, Lord Canis. In that case, I would thankfully accept your help.”
