Harry Potter: The Ring Maker - Chapter 564: Hostile intentions
After that Hephaestus practically lived within the library and regularly received sweets from Dotty since she apparently had a huge sweet tooth. Nick would have thought it funny if the woman didn’t have an appetite way bigger than her lithe toned frame would make you thing. She was by no means a big woman as she only stood at about five foot seven inches and had a deceptively narrow body. Despite this she ate nearly her body weight in food without any issue at all before going back to the books in the library.-
Nick had other things to worry about however as the same day he brought her back to the manor he received news that a few war bands were starting to test the edges of his defenses for weaknesses. “If I went and made an example out of them how badly do you think everyone would take it?” Nick asked Sirius who was working as the head of the adventurers guild and peoples representative to Nick at the moment. The man saw the way that London was going under the ministry that could now act more tyrannical and moved his family home land and all to Nicks area since it was a better option.-
Nick had been putting him to work since then and was at the moment in a meeting with him about these war bands trying his patience. “It wouldn’t go over well if we made the first move. A lot of people are still stuck in the way things used to be and aren’t willing to accept such a violent approach even if I personally think it a good one.” Sirius said honestly. “I thought so. I don’t want to wait for an attack to justify retaliation though. Any suggestions?” Nick asked with a sigh.-
“Hmmm , got anything flashy but mostly harmless that would serve as a warning?” Sirius asked and Nick thought about it for a moment. “Well I could send a huge murder of crow beasts to pester them?” he offered and Sirius immediately shook his head. “It might look like a biological attack if you did that since the crows tend to carry diseases with them.” he said and Nick cursed himself for not taking that into account. “I could always create a storm to soak them away.” Nick suggested. –
“So long as you keep any lightning out of it that should do the trick. We would need someone to keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t try to pull a fast one for that whole time though.” Sirius said after some thought on it. “Send the twins , they’ve been badgering me about trying out some new prank items since they got here after they graduated.” Nick said with a smirk. The twins saw how bad it was in diagon alley when they went to set up a shop and decided to try their luck at Nicks new settlement which had panned out really well for them so far.-
Their shop was a local favorite as they sold magical props to the muggles living here as well as the wizards so they got regular high volume business as the muggles kept coming back for more. They even had a few muggles working in their shop happily which admittedly helped considerably as most wizards were rather standoffish with muggles still so things were tense. The twins shop helps break down this tension a lot which Nick was all for. Sirius grinned and ended the meeting there since he needed to let everyone know the plan.-
The next day Nick donned his armor and flew out of the island and purposefully over the settlement as the twins flew up to meet him. The three war bands were smart and made sure they were in three separate locations a few miles away from the edge of his area. Nick made sure that they saw him above them as he flared his magic and summoned a downpour on them. A few wizards tried to take him down while he was there but they got harsh lessons as he turned them into donkeys.-
“Really made an ass of themselves huh?” Fred joked at this and the three of them laughed at the joke. “Alright you two , if they try to leave the storms without actually going away let me know so I can have the rain chase them.” Nick said and the twins saluted in an exaggerated manner. With that done Nick went back to the island to get back to his paperwork while his second body worked on another project of his , the lexicon.
