Haven Online - Chapter 251
Pan Yingjie knew that not just anyone would be able to find that particular book that the boy was holding. Only people with certain qualities were worthy of finding it.
And as he gazed into the boy’s glistening puppy dog eyes, Pan Yingjie had a feeling that he had those qualities. Especially after witnessing how he stood up for his friend, but the boy still had to be tested.
He might have loyalty, but does he have the dedication to go through on what he promises.
“Fine, I will give you one hour and not a second more to clean up this mess and put everything back precisely where it was. If this place isn’t clean by the time I come back, then no matter how you plead, you and your friend will be banned from this library.” Pan Yinjie announced as he snatched the book, the boy was still clutching out of his hands.
After giving the boy, another long, hard stare Pan Yingjie stalks away with the book tightly gripped in his hand.

As soon as the man left, Melting Snow let out a long drawn out sigh before turning towards Xinya. “I’m so sorry that you are in this mess, Drifting Cloud. I should have just stayed seated, but instead got us both in trouble.”
“It’s okay, Melting Snow. With how many dangerous situations I get us in, I can’t hold this against you. But I do want to know what was so important about that tattered brown book that you had to go to so much trouble to get it?” Xinya questioned.
“Brown tattered book… What are you talking about, Drifting Cloud? Did you not see the book I was holding?”
Xinya was utterly bewildered about what Melting Snow was going on about. “I did see it. It was a raggedly, old brown book.”
“What the heck?! What old brown book?” Melting Snow was astounded that the man wasn’t able to see the book the way he did. “The book was not old or brown, it was orange, looked like it was just printed and was freaking glowing! You really did not see that?”
“I’m sorry, but that wasn’t what I saw when I looked at it. Maybe it’s a special object that only the player who finds it first can see…,” Suddenly Xinya was struck by a memory. “Melting Snow, did you trigger a quest when you touched it?”
“Yeah, I did. Do you know anything about this?”
Luckily he still had his interface up; that way, he would be able to quickly pull up the games’ forums. He needed to find a particular post by a player that was once in this similar situation.
Xinya knew that in the future, a year or two after the update, that another strange object like the one Melting Snow discovered would be found, and the player would document the quests she received.
For a time, the player became a viral star; but her fame only blossomed further after she completed the entire questline.
The reason why she became so popular and sought after by sponsors and guilds was that the object she found was the key to getting a hidden class.
But as they say: ‘the higher one rises, the faster they will fall,’ which happened to that player. Power begets jealousy, and she had a lot of power.
However, she was dense and told everyone about it, which sadly led to her downfall.
Although she was the most well-known player that found an object that would unseal a hidden class, she wasn’t the first. No, that honor went to a player in the European region.
Xinya really hoped that the man had already found the object and posted about it. He really doesn’t want to lie to the boy about where he learned the information from.
‘Good that event happened already.’ Xinya thought with relief as he clicked on a post that read: ‘Mysterious Object + Weird Quests = ??’
Taking a glance at Melting Snow, who was staring at him curiously, Xinya clicked the box that was in the lower-left corner and shared his screen so the boy could see it. “I think what’s happening with the book is similar to what happened to SharkBabii in the European region.”
With furrowed brows, Melting Snow walked closer to Xinya’s interface screen. “Why does that name sound so familiar?”
“Don’t you remember SharkBabii? The guy who swore he found a glowing teacup, but all his friends only saw an old cracked one. It wasn’t until he used POV mode to take a picture and posted it to believe him.”
“Oh, I remember that! It happened when I was still too young to play. But I remember it causing quite a buzz and following the forum post religiously; it was a shame that the guy failed at the end.” Melting Snow said, letting out a pitiful sigh until it struck him where Xinya was going with that statement. “Wait, are you saying that the object I found is like the one that guy found?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” Xinya replied. “But I don’t know for sure.”
~
Melting Snow couldn’t believe that he found a similar object like SharkBabii’s in a library. He still could remember two years ago following the story and boasting to his brother how he would have been able to complete the quest if it was him.
And now he has a chance to do precisely that; it was just too unreal.
But putting his money where his mouth will be hard, since from what he could recall, once the quest started, he would have to do everything alone and wouldn’t be allowed physical help from anyone.
“Melting Snow, after the book was taken away, did a quest pertaining to the librarian pop up?
“Actually, one did… but I didn’t check it.” Noticing the look Drifting Cloud was giving him, Melting Snow hurried and pulled up his interface, sharing his quest with the man.
