He Awakened When I Died - Chapter 13
As the seasons changed, Bliss’s thirteenth birthday came closer.
It was Bliss’s first birthday since Shana was hired as his guide.
Shana waited in her own bedroom until the full-scale banquet began in the evening.
Nevertheless, she didn’t anticipate or feel excited about the banquet.
Having read the original novel, she knew how Bliss’s birthday banquet went.
Bliss’ birthday banquet was always held along with his second brother, Michael’s birthday banquet.
Both of them were born in February, and the Hope family celebrated the two brothers’ birthdays together because their birthdays were only a few days apart.
‘They always did it on Michael’s birthday even though it was earlier than Bliss’ birthdate.’
That was understandable, since it was burdensome to hold a series of banquets one after another.
The problem was that this wasn’t all.
It’s a birthday banquet together for both of them only in name, but the face of the party had always been Michael.
It was the first birthday banquet since Bliss joined the Hope Family.
Upon entering the banquet hall, the Hope family treated him as a nobody, while the nobles were busy whispering behind him.
“Bliss, you don’t look well.”
She was the Duchess who had never spoken to him.
Bliss was puzzled nbut a little excited when she talked to him kindly for the first time.
“I’m fin-……”
“Why don’t you go back and get some rest?”
Bliss was quick to notice it, even at a young age.
He had to leave the banquet hall right away after deciphering the meaning of his stepmother’s words.
He realized that others didn’t want him to be there.
That day, Bliss returned to his detached house and went to bed early after a poor meal.
Without being wished by anyone, let alone given a gift.
“Poor Bliss.”
Shana got choked up even just by the thought of the original plot.
Having read the original, Bliss had already awakened and became stronger, so his deprived past wasn’t really touching.
However, now she couldn’t help but feel sorrowful to see young Bliss being ignored and neglected in front of her eyes.
She thought of celebrating Bliss’ birthday separately, but she stopped that train of thought.
It didn’t seem like Bliss would want to spend his birthday comfortably with her in the first place.
‘I might hurt the kid who is pretending to be fine.’
If she said, ‘Let me celebrate your birthday’, and throw a party, it would be worse than that, it would have made Bliss even more miserable.
“Isn’t this useless?”
Shana stared down blankly at her hand. There was a thing wrapped in paper in her hand.
Although she couldn’t give him a separate birthday, it was a gift she was going to give to Bliss on the day of the banquet.
She wanted to make a special magical gift for Bliss; a pair of gloves enchanted with all the spells she could successfully perform.
However, she had a hard time because her magic didn’t follow her will.
Without Baek Ryong’s advice, the gift wouldn’t have been finished until the day of the birthday banquet.
As it had become dark outside, she carefully held the gift in her arms and headed towards Bliss’ room.
But there was no one in the room.
‘Did he go to the banquet hall by any chance?’
The original book clearly stated that Bliss did not attend the banquet, which was obviously because he was not welcomed.
‘I would’ve gone to the banquet hall if I was a bit more confident.’
Bliss had made considerable development through the joint contribution of Baek Ryong and Shana.
He could feel Shana’s mana faintly.
‘When he was grounded by Duke Hope, I thought he was going to give up the guiding completely.’
Just thinking of that time made Shana’s chest cold.
Bliss didn’t show any will to recover, so he has been sick for several days.
However, whether or not he understood her sincerity by attending for him all night long, Bliss went back to guiding again after that.
‘Moreover, Baek Ryong said Bliss heard his voice for a moment.’
He didn’t say anything in front of Duke Hope because he couldn’t sense the mana of nature.
Now that he was able to feel mana, Shana didn’t know if she was itching to brag about her achievement.
Regardless of that, he was still a 13-year-old boy.
‘Let’s go to the banquet hall first.’
Shana headed for the banquet hall at a nervous pace.
She hadn’t met anyone from the Hope Family since their encounter with Duke Hope in the outdoor practice last year.
She didn’t want to be seen by the Hope family, but on the other hand, she was curious about them.
To be exact, she was curious about Bliss’ two brothers.
‘I heard Bliss’ brothers are more handsome than him.’
If someone looked at them, they’d almost be able to see how Bliss would look when he grows up.
After growing up, he would be the tallest and most handsome of the Hope Family’s three brothers, according to the original book.
Not only would he have features that were exquisitely chiseled like a greek statue, but he also radiated an atmosphere that couldn’t be approached rashly.
‘A beautiful face isn’t everything.’
The corners of Shana’s mouth went up insidiously thinking about Bliss from the book.
His muscles were formed evenly and sexy tendons, meanwhile his thighs were as strong as stones that were expected to be peerless.
The walking testosterone caused many ladies to suffer from love fever, even though he made his way into high society belatedly.
Even if he only spitted out a word or two in a baritone voice that was pleasant to the ears, the young ladies kept holding their hearts and lamented.
‘Bliss’ brothers don’t know who I am anyway.’
So it won’t be a big deal just to look around from afar, right?
Shana arrived at the banquet hall thinking so.
“If you are invited, please let me know your name.”
The gatekeeper blatantly stared at Shana from up and down. The reason for that; her attire looked mediocre.
“I’m Shana, the guide of Master Bliss, the host of today’s banquet.”
The gatekeeper, who had been fretting for a while, meekly opened the door which was unexpected for Shana.
Even though she wasn’t invited, she seemed to be allowed to enter because they were guides hired by the family.
“Thank you.”
The gatekeeper announced her attendance as Shana entered the banquet hall with a pleasant smile.
“Presenting, Master Bliss Hope’s guide!”
The gatekeeper shouted loudly. All the attention in the banquet hall turned toward Shana.
Shana’s back broke out in a cold sweat.
Why should he announce her when she, who wasn’t an aristocrat, went in?
‘Didn’t the gatekeeper do that on purpose to criticize me?’
Reminding herself to take a look at the gatekeeper once again to see if he was laughing to prove her prediction correct.
Shana sneaked a sideways glance once more to the gatekeeper and entered the banquet hall with her head down.
Even if she didn’t see it, she felt the sharp gazes that made not just her face, but also her ears turn red.
Shana walked quickly toward the pillar of the banquet hall while only looking at the ground. It wasn’t until she hid behind a large, thick cylindrical pillar that she was able to breathe out.
‘Is Bliss here? Where is he?’
She peeked out to see around the banquet hall in secret.
There were still some nobles who looked at her, but most of them turned their attraction from her and chatted among themselves.
“What are you doing here?”
“Oh my God!”
Shana screamed out in surprise at the sudden voice that came from behind her.
Shana turned around carefully.
Turned out it was a handsome boy with black hair and gray eyes who spoke to her.
“Why is Bliss’ guide here?”
It seemed like he was one of Bliss’ two older brothers.
‘Is it Michael?’
In the original novel, Bliss’ two older brothers were described as having completely different personalities.
One was serious, and the other was gentle.
It was obvious that this boy with a strangely gentle and light attitude was none other than Michael.
“I’m here to humbly see Young Master Bliss.”
Michael snorted when Shana answered in a creeped-out voice.
“Why are you looking for Bliss here?”
“That…”
“Moreover, this is a place that you can’t enter.”
Michael lowered his head and drew his face closer to Shana.
Shana stepped back, as she felt uncomfortable, till her back hit the pillar.
“Only nobles can enter the hall.”
“Ah…”
“Therefore, you and Bliss can’t come in.”
Michael smirked with one corner of his mouth cocked up.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I’ll be going then.”
Shana quickly turned around and went toward the door, but Michael stretched out his arm and placed his hand on the pillar.
Shana was flustered when she was blocked by his arm.
“Who said you are free to enter and leave on your whim?”
She was trying to get out of there quietly, but it turned out to be a mess. She tried to relax her expression but became furious instead.
“Then what should I do…”
“What should you do now that you are at the banquet celebrating my birthday?”
Shana stared at him for a moment and opened her mouth.
“Wishing you a happy birthday?”
“Only with words?”
“Pardon me?”
Michael pointed to the gift Shana was holding in her arms with his chin.
“Give me the gift.”
Shana was frustrated. It was made for Bliss after days of hard work.
She spoke to Michael with an embarrassed face.
“It’s a gift for Young Master Bliss.”
“It’s my birthday, and there’s no present for me?”
His brows wrinkled as if he was unpleasant.
“It’s Young Master Bliss’ birthday as well.”
Shana continued while hugging the gift tighter in her arms.
“I apologize for not preparing the gift for you. Maybe later if you don’t mind…”
“No, I don’t want that.”
Of course, it was empty talk, so she didn’t accept his refusal for a moment.
“Give it to me, I want it.”
Michael rudely snatched the gift from her arms.
