He Awakened When I Died - Chapter 3
Shana decided to stay in one of the rooms of Bliss’ house.
So they will stay together and she can help Bliss with the guiding more efficiently.
Most of the wizards were employed as guides to wealthy families.
The guide was generally a house nanny and teacher. ‘Was it their job to raise and teach a child who hadn’t awakened yet?’
So generally commoner wizards served as guides.
Shana was different from other ordinary guides in her age.
At the age of 15, she was still very young to be a guide.
Certainly, there were families that hired young guides to induce natural guidance in a comfortable atmosphere.
‘But Duke Hope couldn’t have hired me for that purpose,’
Shana snorted while reading ‘Everything About Guiding’.
In fact, Bliss’ first guide was Duke Hope. He appointed himself to be the guide and induced Bliss’ awakening.
But Bliss gave up on him early after failing the awakening when he was 10-year-old.
‘He pretended to be nice and gave Bliss a Guardian, but anyone could see that he bought them at a cheap price.’
The more experienced the guide, the higher the pay, and older the guide, therefore they are considered to be more competent.
So 15-year-old Shana was bound to be an incompetent guide.
‘I’m sure that will continue to be the case.’
Shana borrowed several books related to guiding from her study, but the more she read, the more she became lost than before.
“How the hell am I going to inject my Mana into Bliss?”
The book said that the guide was the first to induce the other person’s Mana reaction by sending their Mana through his fingertips.
“Therefore, some physical contact is inevitable.”
The original female lead had no choice but to succeed in guiding.
She couldn’t believe it’s just a little bit of touch. As far as Shana could remember, the two of them were a long way off. Wouldn’t that be enough to create mana that wasn’t there?
Shana looked at her palm with a serious face.
“The mana in my body, move to my fingertips now. Move…”
‘I repeated it in my mind as if hypnotizing myself, but I couldn’t feel anything from my hands.’
‘I’m screwed! I have to meditate again today!’
Shana lamented as she popped on the bed.
She’s been telling Bliss to meditate in order to buy time until she finds out the right way to guide.
“Close your eyes and feel the mana flowing in you.”
“I’ve never heard this kind of guiding before.”
“Shush! Focus. It’s a mental battle against yourself.”
“……A fight with myself?”
Bliss meditated quite hard, wondering if Shana’s words seemed plausible. He’s been sweating all day long.
Seeing him try so hard, Shana was bound to feel even more guilty.
‘He couldn’t just meditate for the next 8 years. I also thought about how to step down as a guide, but……’
The contract was the problem. Shana had signed a lifetime contract with the Hope Family.
She thought young Shana had been captured, but the book showed that a lifetime contract was standard.
“Bliss succeeded in awakening, or I would have died in an unfortunate accident.”
Only in one of these cases could Shana leave the Hope family.
‘I didn’t know it was impossible to do halfway contract termination. Where can I find such a vicious contract!’
In fact, that vicious contract was only for Shana.
It was extremely rare for an awakening to fail, so a guide would not be forced into a family.
“How can I reverse the original setting that was set for the female lead in the first place?”
In the end, there were only two options left for her.
Pretend to be dead and terminate the contract, or find someone else to replace herself with and take them to Bliss.
However, there may be a way to pretend to be dead, but there was no way to find out the female lead without knowing where exactly she is.
Shana just endured it, hanging on like a ship in troubled waters.
‘Shouldn’t I just have to avoid the monster hunt?’
She thought at least she wouldn’t have to die, but this was embarrassing as well.
There’s such a thing as the Law of Conservation for Original Work, what if I don’t need to hunt the monsters to die?
She may have stepped on a fruit peel and died of a concussion.
‘But I don’t want to stay with Bliss for a long time.’
Bliss was definitely a handsome and charming male character but in reality, he was someone that she didn’t want to meet.
‘He had great obsessive and possessive desires towards the female lead.’
Bliss would make sure to never miss the chance to stay with the female lead, the only miracle, and savior who appeared in his deprived life.
The female lead was even engraved with the imprinting magic that allowed him to possibly trace her location.
The female lead, who realized that she couldn’t escape his grasp, gave up and closed the door to her heart completely.
The original novel ended with Bliss who was delighted to own the female lead, who was by then only a shell of her true self.
‘Now that I think about it, it’s seriously devastating.’
Shana got goosebumps and trembled slightly.
When he meets the female lead in the future, Bliss would be exactly like himself in the original plot.
She had to stay away from him as much as she could because she didn’t know what kind of danger she might get into by staying by Bliss’s side.
‘And then I would enjoy a happy magical life that has nothing to do with the original plot.’
She smiled meekly as if she had been crying.
Yes, this was a magical world, and she was an actual wizard.
To be exact, a wizard who didn’t make any effort but woke up only to learn about magic.
As she reached for the book, a thought suddenly appeared in her mind, and the pages fluttered to the last one she had been reading.
The corner of her mouth rose eagerly.
‘Even if I can’t inject Mana to Bliss, I can still do enough magic.’
Shana dreamed of getting out of Bliss’ side as soon as possible, living free with magic in her.
The dream was as addictive as the imagination of winning the first prize in the lottery, and it made her excited.
“Miss Shana.”
Walking over the water and flying in the sky inside her imagination was interrupted by a maid knocking on her bedroom door.
“Gosh.”
It was the time to guide Bliss. Shana got up quickly after putting away her books.
‘Oh wait?!’
She tilted her head after opening the bedroom door. The maid didn’t look well.
There were servants at the separate building where Bliss lived as well although they were managed hastily.
However, their faces were all gloomy. They didn’t have any will to do anything sincerely.
The only good thing about these unmotivated and insincere servants was that they didn’t bother Bliss.
“Why do you look more depressed today?”
Shana looked curious as the maid slowly opened her mouth.
“Young Master doesn’t want to do the guiding for today.”
“He doesn’t want to do it?”
“Yes, so please take a day off for yourself.”
Shana couldn’t believe it. Bliss didn’t stop trying even though it was like pouring water into a bottomless pit.
‘That’s how desperate he is for his awakening……’
He didn’t say anything until yesterday, but he suddenly cancelled today’s guiding.
‘Is it because of too much meditation?’
Maybe Bliss noticed that meditation was bullshit.
“Do you know why?”
The maid didn’t open her mouth to Shana’s question.
Today, out of all days, seeing the servant’s eyebags gloomier than usual, Shana shook her head assertively.
“You don’t have to tell me if it’s difficult for you to say.”
“No, It’s not like that. The guide should have known anyway.”
The maid continued in a dreary voice.
“Today the Young Master received the guardian’s choice.”
“Ah……”
Shana sighed without realizing it. That ‘guardian’ has shown up.
“But the guardian’s condition is a little… peculiar, and seems to have confused the Young Master.”
Shana nodded as if she knew everything. Reading the original, she really knew what it felt like being Bliss’ guardian.
‘It would be depressing rather than confusing.’
To the point where he refused to do the guiding which he had been passionate about.
Shana let out a small sigh.
“I have to go see Young Master.”
“I told you the Young Master doesn’t want to do the guiding.”
“I’m not going there for the guiding.”
She strode away, leaving behind the maid with a puzzling look on her face.
‘There’s no proper adult in this house.’
No matter what the relationship between master and servant is like, at least as an adult can say something in order to comfort the depressed child.
People here couldn’t have said such warm words to Bliss. They just turned a blind eye to him, saying that it was none of their business.
‘As expected, negligence is a crime.’
Especially for children such as Bliss.
Arriving in front of Bliss’ room, Shana took a deep breath and knocked lightly at the door.
Knock knock
“Young Master Bliss, this is Shana.”
There was no answer. She called him once again and pressed her ears to the door.
“Young Master Bliss?” she said.
“……I’m here.”
It was not long before a small voice filled the silence.
“I thought I said I didn’t want any guiding today.”
Sniff
Shana opened her eyes wider. She clearly heard the ‘sniff’ that followed like an irresistible force at the end of his words.
The crazy obsessive male lead of the future is now sniffling alone in his room.
“I am not here to guide you.”
“……Then?”
She heard a voice asking calmly, trying hard to hold back his tears.
Shana was being playful because Bliss somehow felt cute. She grinned and said, “I am here to see you.”
Of course, there was no answer from Bliss.
As the silence grew long, Shana broke out in a cold sweat.
‘I think the Guardian made you upset or did I tease you too much?’
Shana tried to fix the situation as much as she could.
“I was just joking about the Guardian…”
But the door slowly opened before she could finish her sentence.
