He Awakened When I Died - Chapter 4
Bliss had a grim face as Shana faced him.
His eyes and his nose were red, the traces of him crying were apparent.
‘Am I that funny to you?’
He glared at Shana with eyes that weren’t drained completely yet.
“How ridiculous I must look in your eyes, you make fun of me by treating me like a child.”
Shana was taken aback by his angry tone.
“You’re treating me like a child, aren’t you…….?”
‘Of course, I’m not that old either but aren’t you twelve years younger than me anyway?’
‘But it’s true that I made fun of him.’
Shana had nothing to say. No matter how cute Bliss was, it wasn’t the time to tease him.
‘It was crazy of me to think he is cute. What’s so cute about him anyway.’
Shana opened her mouth while swearing at herself inside.
“I am here because I’m worried about you, Young Master.”
“Worried?”
Bliss’ eyes grew sharper.
Shana worried about him twice before and thought she would die.
“I was worried that you unexpectedly cancelled the guiding, so…….”
“I am not a weak and pathetic person for you to worry about.”
Shana was dumbfounded.
“You are trying to hurt my pride by saying that you’re worried about me, aren’t you?”
He seemed to have taken Shana’s concerns as a gesture of sympathy.
‘I can’t believe you don’t accept good faith.’
It was also the characteristic of a person with low self-esteem.
He is way too wary of looking down on others because he lacks self-confidence.
Considering the environment in which Bliss grew up, his defensive personality was understandable.
People in this house already hated Bliss, hence the mistreatment was not wrong in their eyes.
She came here with a good heart and heard ‘I don’t want you’ but she decided to put up with it anyway.
‘Well, I’m not like Bliss or other people around him.’
Shana gave a gentle smile that made her look friendly.
It was a true smile that she had mastered in her previous life in the service profession.
“The reason why I am worried about you…”
She looked at Bliss with sincere eyes. This was also the response to the truth.
“Because I care about you, Young Master.”
Bliss glanced at Shana without saying anything. It seemed impossible to decipher whether her words were true or false.
‘Do you think I would be scared to look at you with such cold eyes?’
Not wanting to lose, Shana didn’t shy away from his eyes. She strained hers and didn’t even blink.
Having dealt with his icy glares for some time, she couldn’t tolerate those cold eyes anymore and chose to close her eyes.
She had tears in her eyes when she opened them again.
It was a physiological reaction caused by dry eyes.
But Bliss seemed to get the wrong idea.
He opened his mouth, slightly agitated.
“No way, tear…….”
“Please think about the opposite scenario.”
Shana continued, unaware of the mixed embarrassment in Bliss’ eyes.
“What if, I suddenly said I didn’t want to work as a guide and I wouldn’t see you, Young Master?”
“You can’t do that. It’s an abandonment of duty.”
Bliss responded immediately as if it was nonsense.
‘How can you say it’s the abandonment of duties?’
Frustrated, Shana bit her lips as she looked up in frustration.
Oddly enough, in Bliss’ eyes, she seemed to hold back her tears.
“Yes. Then……. Think of it as a person who can’t do that because it’s an abandonment of duties. Wouldn’t you be worried about me?”
There was no answer this time.
His silence seemed to answer ‘Why should I worry?’.
‘He really doesn’t seem to care about me at all.’
Obviously, she didn’t want the male lead’s attention but she would be his guide for the next few years.
‘Indeed, because I am a non-existent extra.’
Shana shortly agreed with herself, but she couldn’t help being a little sullen.
She was a faint-hearted person in her previous life too.
There was one thing she often heard from her friends, coworkers, and even her family members.
Oh, you were there as well?”
She thought they shared pleasant memories together with her, but people didn’t even remember she was there.
One who doesn’t complain much and has a lot of pride. That kind of person.
‘Am I also that kind of person in this world?’
Bliss replied belatedly as Shana smiled bitterly.
“All right.”
“……Pardon me?”
She was lost in thought and asked back in a dazed voice.
“I understand, so stop it.”
“Stop what?”
Bliss bit his lip, then pointed his finger at Shana’s face and said.
“Something like that. I understand what you are saying, so you can stop doing that.”
Shana opened her eyes wide. He pointed his finger to her face.
‘Do you mean you don’t want to see my face?’
Shana replied, thinking it was a strange turn of events.
“I understand, Young Master.”
He’s telling her to go now so she must get going.
When Shana bent down and turned her back, Bliss called after her.
“Where are you going?”
“Didn’t you mean to say goodbye?”
“I never said that.”
The two briefly looked at each other with indescribable faces.
It was Bliss who turned his eyes first. He entered the room with a sigh as if begrudgingly welcoming her.
“Come on in.”
Shana was puzzled but followed suit silently.
His bedroom was incomparably spacious compared to Shana’s but that was it.
There was only necessary furniture and none of the fancy decorations. It was quite minimalistic for a son of a duke.
It was neat, to say the least, however at worst it was desolate.
Bliss headed to the sofa and table. There was a small basket on the table.
“I just refused to join the guiding with you today because I had something else to do.”
Bliss, sitting on the sofa, glared at the basket and said.
“I had to figure out the Guardian who chose me.”
Soon he turned away as if he didn’t want to see her anymore.
“You have been chosen by a Guardian. Congratulations!”
Shana approached him, celebrating as if she knew nothing about it.
“If you don’t mind, may I take a look at your Guardian, Young Master?”
“As well, if you want to see it so badly.”
Bliss allowed in an unenthusiastic manner and Shana quickly sat next to him.
‘The Guardian’ is a creature born by absorbing Mana in plants and animals, they have powerful Mana as well.
There was a reason why they were called Guardian and considered sacred ones.
This is because the Guardian chooses a wizard who will become their master and serves only one master for the rest of their life.
When the owner dies, the Guardian would follow suit and eventually return to nature.
Thus it was a great honor for the wizard to be chosen by a strong and loyal Guardian.
In the original plot, Bliss is delighted to be chosen by the Guardian at a relatively early age. His other brothers were the first to be chosen by the Guardian.
Although he hasn’t awakened yet, this meant that he had unlimited possibilities as a wizard.
‘And…… You must have been as disappointed as I was.’
Shana looked into the basket and checked for Bliss’ Guardian.
‘Indeed.’
It looked small.
Shana clicked her tongue inside looking at the black cotton ball.
Bliss’ Guardian, burrowed in a blanket like a baby, was covered in black fur.
The long tail was similar to a lizard’s, but from the fur, it was prominent that it was not a reptile.
‘It’s definitely a poor thing to be a Guardian.’
It wasn’t a bird with flaming wings nor a flying horse like the Guardian of other wizards.
A unique little creature that was unrecognizable. It was Bliss’ Guardian.
In the original plot, Bliss recalled the first time he met his Guardian, saying he thought it was a malicious prank from his brothers.
To make fun of him, they brought something weird that he had never heard of before.
‘You said you wanted it to be a joke.’
But such a prank was impossible in the first place. No one can imitate a precognitive dream.
The Guardian appears like a precognitive dream to all people who have the same bloodline as the owner of their choice.
Because it appears in the form of light and only says the name of people who will be their master and disappears, he didn’t know what it looked like until he actually saw it.
‘The dream made him unable to hide his poor choice of Guardian.’
It would appear quietly only in Bliss’ dreams fussing over him, making Bliss more miserable as it appeared so suddenly.
Duke Hope hated Bliss more after this incident, saying he had lost reputation and his brothers would mockingly laugh at him.
He was chosen by a Guardian who fits himself perfectly.
So she wondered if Bliss must have felt any shame and disappointment.
Shana glanced at Bliss. She could understand how he felt, but she didn’t feel sorry for him.
This is because she already knew the identity of the Guardian by reading the original novel.
This wiggling ball of fur in the basket was none other than a Snow White Dragon.
Bliss’ Guardian would become a humongous dragon that will wrap around the annex when it finishes growing.
‘It was famous for its cruelty and ruthlessness, contrary to its beauty.
was fantastic since Bliss had just finished his awakening.
Was Bliss’ Guardian, who gained great Mana through the awakening, actually a dragon?
‘It’ll be an absolute swindle character.’
In addition, the dragon was a legend, it has been a long time since he emerged as a Guardian.
It’s been hundreds of years since such a dragon showed up and chose Bliss.
The writer was determined to give Bliss the title of the world’s strongest man.
‘Bliss wouldn’t have to be so depressed if he knew that.’
But she had to comfort him, so Shana said in a bright voice.
“Hey, your Guardian is very……”
She tried hard to grin.
“You look cute and brave.”
Bliss smiled coldly while looking at Shana’s awkward smile.
“Why don’t you just say that you don’t like it?”
“What do you mean by ‘I didn’t like it’! I’m telling you, here, if you look at it like this……”
When she stared at Bliss’ Guardian with her eyes wide open to somehow find virtue in this creature.
[Little Wizard.]
A strange and grave voice came into her head.
