He Awakened When I Died - Chapter 7
“What’s taking you so long?”
Indeed, just like Baek Ryong had said, Bliss came to the bathroom.
“I thought you both fell in the water.”
“I apologize for that. We are done now.”
Shana took Baek Ryong out of the bathtub and dried him entirely with a clean towel.
[Young wizard, I will keep an eye on you, so give it a try right now.]
“What?”
Shana, who was conscious of Bliss’s presence, asked in a whisper.
[Share your body temperature with my master.]
‘No, here?’
Shana looked at Baek Ryong with a ridiculous gaze, but Baek Ryong seemed to have no intention of giving up.
‘Eh, whatever.’
As an act of surrendering, she turned to Bliss.
“Young Master, will you take the Guardian?”
Shana handed Bliss the basket with Baek Ryong inside, pretending to act busy organizing her surroundings.
“……Is this ball of white fur my Guardian?”
Bliss wondered as he glanced at the bathtub. After checking the pitch-black water, he awkwardly received the basket in great bewilderment.
As he was handed the basket by Shana, their hands brushed. Shana pretended to be startled.
“My lord! Why are your hands so cold?”
“Cold?”
“Yes, very cold. It’s not good to have cold hands like these.”
She made a fuss and put down the basket then held Bliss’ hands together with both her hands.
“What are you doing?”
Bliss asked with a perplexed look.
“I’m warming Young Master’s hands. My hands have so much heat.”
Shana giggled. Bliss saw her ivory hands hold his.
“…….It doesn’t matter to you whether my hands are cold or not.”
“Oh, I have told you before. It’s because I care about you, right Young Master?”
Bliss furrowed his eyebrows, seemingly unable to understand her words.
‘Let the mana flow together.’
Shana closed her eyes tightly and focused her mind on her fingertips.
Unbeknownst to Shana, her eyelashes trembled and her cheeks flushed.
Only Bliss who was staring at her took in the sight of her appearance with wide eyes.
As Shana’s forehead was covered in the form of cold sweat, Bliss’ fingers tingled.
‘Did it work?’
When he reacted, Shana opened her eyes and looked at Bliss.
Bliss, who made eye contact with her without warning, averted his gaze one moment later.
Then he pulled his hand out of Shana’s hands harshly.
“I don’t need that.”
Bliss exhaled coldly and left the bathroom.
“……Guardian, I think we screwed up.”
[No. You did a great job.]
Unlike Shana who was frustrated, Baek Ryong was as satisfied as a cat who ate the canary.
***
Two weeks had passed since Shana changed Bliss’ guiding method as advised by Baek Ryong.
Meanwhile, she pretended to be a grandmother who cared for her grandchildren, trying to warm his hands.
Bliss really hated that she could hold hands with him so easily.
Each time she persuaded him saying that the secret of a successful wizard was good health and cold hands were not good for his health.
Bliss reluctantly let her hold his hands, but when they held hands he looked like he was about to end the world.
One day Shana asked Baek Ryong carefully.
“If I keep touching him even though he doesn’t like it, won’t it only bring the opposite effect?”
No matter how much she tried to help him, she was worried that Bliss might be truly stressed out.
[How would he probably die if you don’t hold his hands?]
“Is the Young Master’s life actually at stake?”
Baek Ryong firmly said no. His ultimate goal was to change Bliss’ personality.
[Didn’t I tell you? If you don’t fix that temper that tries to suppress anything, he won’t be able to handle his mana.]
This was a change that’s possible only when it comes from the heart naturally, and there was no point in doing it out of a sense of duty.
Therefore, Shana had no choice but to help Bliss secretly.
[There’s nothing to worry about. As we are making good progress.]
“Where on earth do you see this progress?”
[Isn’t my master’s hands already less cold than they used to be? And when you both hold hands, his neck turns red.]
“I’m sure it’s because he is angry.”
[Of course. You are doing great. Make my master even angrier.]
Shana thought, she couldn’t communicate with Baek Ryong at all.
She doubted Bliss’ disagreeable personality could change in the span of two weeks, but she felt good since the morning.
She hummed and changed her clothes. She even wore a cloak for going out instead of her comfortable everyday clothes.
‘We will have outdoor practice today.’
In order to feel not just the inner mana but the pure mana of nature as well, they decide to try guiding outdoors.
She swore she wouldn’t enjoy outdoor practice if it had been her old self.
She was a typical homebody.
Even if others asked what she did on vacation or holidays when she was young or when she became an adult, she replied with, ‘I was at home.’
Even after becoming Shana, she thought this habit wouldn’t go anywhere.
Wouldn’t it be better if the servants of the separate house do the cumbersome housework?
But this was her misjudgment.
The time she spent in the separate house was so boring that she was about to go crazy.
‘I don’t have a smartphone here.’
Of course, there was no TV or computer either.
In her previous life, she had no time to be bored watching dramas, reading novels, or playing games at home.
Unfortunately, there was nothing to do here besides being Bliss’ guide.
As the lights in the separate house went out when the sun went down, she had to get ready for bed early in the evening.
She felt like entering a training center with strict discipline.
Of course, there were times when she lost track of time trying various magic tricks and reading magic books because of her interest in magic, but it was only for a while.
The magic that can be done indoors was limited, and it was not her hobby to sit and study seriously.
Therefore, when Baek Ryong suggested outdoor practice, she was elated. Why didn’t she think of that before?
It wasn’t going out to the city, but an outdoor practice to be done around the separate house, regardless Shana was excited about going out after a long time.
Knock knock.
By the time she was ready to go out, the maid came to visit her. Shana quickly opened her bedroom door.
“Anne.”
She called the maid’s name in a friendly manner. Anne was the maid she would meet most often, hence why she couldn’t help but remember her name.
Anne was about the same age as Shana, but she was a maid with no will to do anything.
“I brought the biscuits you had asked for.”
“Woah, thank you.”
Shana took the basket Anne handed her and opened the lid.
“Really……”
Shana stopped salivating and spoke brightly.
“It’s biscuits.”
The round biscuits Anne brought were beige and plain without any sort of decoration.
‘It’s so plain, it doesn’t taste like anything.’
In fact, the food served in the separate house was tasteless. Whether it was meat or bread, everything tasted boring.
The ordinary and boring foods seemed to depict the characteristics of the separate house and its residents.
“Thank you.”
Shana thanked Anne once again, closed the door, and returned to the bedroom.
She put the basket on the table and opened the magic book. It was an ‘applying magic to real life’ chapter that was marked in advance.
Her eyes were stuck on the book and her hands were stretched towards the biscuits in the basket.
‘If it is a simple spell, I guess there is no need for chanting.’
Shana casted her magic while gently waving her hands in the air.
She has never seen a case of applying this magic to biscuits, but it seemed to go pretty well.
‘I have to give this to Bliss at any cost.’
Shana laughed maniacally while imagining Bliss’ response.
Even though she couldn’t understand Baek Ryong’s guiding method, she cooperated harder than anyone else.
After finishing her magic spell, Shana smiled and walked out of the room with the basket in her hand.
Bliss was waiting for her at the entrance of the separate house. Baek Ryong was gently placed on his shoulders.
Bliss didn’t like it, but Baek Ryong wanted to be on his shoulder even on the off chance he might get killed by his master.
‘It’s because he’s a Guardian with a lot of charm.’
Sometimes when Baek Ryong rubs his face against Bliss’ cheek as an expression of affection, Bliss would shudder with disgust.
“What’s in that basket?”
Bliss asked expectedly, looking at the basket in Shana’s hand.
“It’s snacks to eat when we get a little hungry.”
Bliss returned to his usual unfriendly face when she told him it was snacks.
“If anyone sees it, they would think we are going on a picnic.”
It was said in a warning tone to remind them that the purpose of the day’s outing was outdoor training. Shana just laughed sheepishly.
They headed to the garden of the separate house. The garden attached to the main building was much larger and more luxurious, but they didn’t dare to go there.
‘So that I can get some gossip on the Hope family.’
Shana hasn’t met anyone from the Hope Family since the day she became Bliss’ guide.
It was because Bliss never hung out with them and they never came to see Bliss either.
‘It’s best not to run into each other.’
She couldn’t bear to see the Hope Family walk all over Bliss.
‘I don’t know how to handle it if by any chance I happen to make a fuss.’
She may be an object of indifference to them currently, but she didn’t know what would happen if she did something conspicuous.
‘I hate to be bothered, but……’
Shana glanced at Bliss. She was worried that they would nitpick everything about her and scold Bliss.
“This is the garden.”
Bliss stopped walking before turning to the back of the separate house. He seemed reluctant to answer.
