He/Heroine And My Villainess - Chapter 250
MY VILLAINESS AND HE/HEROINE
(THIS CHILD WILL STAY OUT SIDE)
“Great miss. Are you okay?” she asked.
The five-year-old child’s expression was calm and there was a trace of sadness in it. It made Vendia surprised and confused. Most people who have been left by their father at such a young age will have a grudge or hatred towards their father, but this young child in front of me seemed at peace and already contented. Why? It’s strange. Vendia fell into disbelief. She could not comprehend what she was seeing in front of her.
A five-year-old child who did not show sadness or grief when someone left them. She could not find sadness or sorrow in a child’s eyes. It’s like she was already used to not having a father. How? How come this child doesn’t have sadness or hatred written on her eyes? How come? This question made Vendia feel anger rush through her and made her wonder if it was her.
She would hold a grudge and would not understand why such a man left behind such responsibility. No wonder Mary said that her mother was sick. She must be working hard to earn wages to spend on her children to survive.
How come there is such a man living in this world? It made Vendia wonder why there were people who dared to abandon their families and leave them to suffer alone. She felt angry and somehow irritated. But her rage and irritation were directed at the child’s father, not the child himself. She straightens her posture and looks at the child with a smile on her face.
“Did you say your mother is sick? Can I see her?” Ask Vendia. But Mary’s expression became solemn and anxiousness could be seen inside her eyes. It made Vendia wonder why she would have such a reaction to her request, which was only a simple one. Why would she react that way, as if it was a heavy request to accept? Mary lowers her gaze to the floor and shakes her head as if to say “no.”
She didn’t mean to reject Vendia’s request, but the doctor instructed her that her mother could not receive any visitors because her illness is severe to other people. That her mother’s illness has the potential to be transmitted to others and to kill those who have been affected by it.
On that day, her mother was examined by the town physician. He advises Mary to put gloves and a mask on her face whenever she goes close to her mother, but she never listens. She never abided by the doctor’s advice because if she did she would feel like she was shaming and abandoning her mother. She felt uncomfortable and it made her feel far from her mother. It pained her.
It made her heart heavy and beat in torment because she felt the instructions were too much. She still could not understand what kind of illness her mother had, and she also could not understand why the doctor wanted her to follow his instructions, but all she knew inside her head was that she didn’t want to lose her mother.
Vendia just stayed at her place and observed the young child’s expressions. Then she saw her having a hard time and having a heavy moment.
She couldn’t help but sigh and decided not to pursue her request anymore. She also felt that it was too soon to ask for that kind of request because they had just met. But she just couldn’t help it. She was worried about the young child and their condition. She didn’t mean ill with her request. But again, she thought that her request was too soon.
She looked at the young child in front of her who was still stuck inside her thoughts, then touched her shoulder and said some comforting words that made Mary smile again.
“It’s fine. Don’t give yourself a hard time thinking about my request is fine, “she said
“Maybe next time my parents and I come by this land again, your mother is already healed. Then you can let me meet her,” she added. Mary nodded immediately and showed a smile that was filled with willingness and assurance.
Vendia couldn’t help but pat her head and caress her hair for a minute as she felt happy upon seeing the child in a bright mood again.
“I wish I had a sibling like you,” vendia said out of the blue. Mary stared at her. Her eyes showed shock, and she stiffened in her place. Vendia saw her reaction to her words and couldn’t help but say.
“I’m the only child. I want to have a sister, but my mother’s condition is weak. So the doctor said. She can no longer bear a child anymore. ” Her voice was calm and gentle. Mary just looks at her with innocent eyes. She glanced at her then saw Mary only listening to her words while looking at her with innocent eyes.
“Okay, enough of this nonsense. Shall we continue?” She added, pointing her index finger at her face, which had unfinished makeup, and Mary immediately nodded.
Then their makeup sessions resumed for ten minutes. When Mary was done, Vendia was stupefied and was blown away while she watched her reflection in the mirror.
Her eyes were wide like a scared cat and her face showed amazement. Mary really is a fast learner. She listens and abides well to her instructions. The result is shocking. Her makeup is perfectly fitted to what she was wearing right then. She looked ethereal.
She turned to look at Mary and saw her playing her hands again while she looked at the floor, as if she was nervous and scared. This made Vendia sigh and release a light laugh, making Mary look straight at her with wide-eyed wonder. Vendia looked at her for a second, then said,
“Why are you nervous?”
Mary didn’t reply; she didn’t know what to say. Her words seemed to be stuck inside her mouth and would not come out. Her mind had also turned blank. It was her first time doing makeovers on other people. She didn’t know if she did it right.
From her perspective, it’s already perfect and it’s on point with what she imagined it would be, but for others, she worries about their own point of view. Her mother always said to her that others’ perspectives and her perspectives are different, so it is best to have an open mind and heart at all times.
To accept others’ judgements and opinions, because some parts of them are useful for your improvement as a person. Her mother’s words are deep, but Mary can understand slight things out of them. Such as how other people are different and that we’re all born with different overlooks of things.
Vendia waited for her to answer, but still got none, so she decided to just go ahead and talk about her opinion about Mary’s work. She looked straight at her and smiled.
“You are impressive. I just taught you how to do it today, but you have already learned to do it well. Your mother must be very blessed to have a child like you, “Vendia said, while Mary only looked at her with a relieved expression and smiled. But after a second, she began to release tears in her eyes and cry, making Vendia shocked and worried.
“Hey… What is wrong? Why are you crying?” Ask Vendia. She went over to Mary’s side and wiped the tears that fell from her face. Mary didn’t look at her, she just continued crying until her voice was heard outside.
Sir Sebi heard her crying voice and couldn’t help but worry. Upon thinking that the one was crying is their young miss. He went close to the carriage window that was closed and consulted Vendia’s condition.
“Young miss? Is everything all right?” He asked. Vendia turned her head to the side, then answered.
“Y-yes, everything is all right. There’s no need to fret. It is the young child that is crying, not me. ” Her voice was fast and there was an anxiousness as well as concern that could be traced out of it.
Sir Sebi couldn’t help but chuckle as he sensed the stress that their young lady was under. It was the first time they’d seen their young miss invite someone they didn’t know inside her carriage. She was such an introverted and closet person, but today she became different, like she had found something that made herself go out of her sealed box.
“Okay, do you need my help, miss?” Sir Sebi asked, and Vendia immediately reacted to his words without a second thought.
“No! Don’t come in. I can handle this myself, “she answered. Her voice is filled with selfishness and determination, but the pressure can still be identified by her butler.
Sir Sebi couldn’t help but chuckle again and just let her do whatever she wanted. He never worries because he knows the young child could not do harm to her.
Vendia looks at the young child with worry because Mary is still crying and doesn’t have an expression that suggests she will stop soon.
Mary cries because of her warm words. She can’t help but look back at her mother’s image from the time when she created makeup and planted crops. Sometimes she forgot to eat and sometimes she only got two hours of sleep, which always made Mary worry.
She also saw her cry in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. When she asks her mother about it, she will only say that it was nothing and that she was just burned out from working too hard.
That is why her eyes hurt a bit, but Mary knows deep down there was something more to it. She knew her mother was lying to her, but she never showed her suspension towards her.
She knew her mother was having a hard time at that time, but she didn’t want to show it to her. Because Mary knows that her mother didn’t want to show weakness to her child. But Mary could feel it even if she didn’t say it.
She wants to tell her mother that it is okay for her to rest and give herself a break, but she knows her mother will never listen to her. And Vendia’s words made her break down because she was so happy that other people could see her mother’s hard work and hardships in raising her.
To be continued.
