He Was Shining With The Stars - Chapter 22

Overly angry, Ye Shiwei clenched her fists and bit her lips with tear-stained faces.
Like everybody else from Family Ye, this girl was congenitally stubborn and emulative.
Mu Tingchen was a little exasperated.
“What’re you thinking all day long?”
Ye thought it was funny for him to ask in this way.
“If you weren’t that kind of person, how could I have thought of you in that way?”
Mu was exhausted today. Though having severe stomachache, he rushed to Ye’s house to rescue the girl. Now he really didn’t feel in the mood for a quarrel with her.
He retreated and sat down on the bed in low spirits.
“Think in whatever way you want. It’s late. I’m going to sleep.”
Things already reaching at this point, Ye thought to herself that if she backed out now, she would go through all the humiliation in vain!
She strode over, and asked aggressively.
“Then what can make you help me?”
She knew the best the only thing she got at the moment was herself.
Gritting her teeth, she threw off her slippers and climbed onto his bed swiftly.
She got under the covers desperately, and felt a shiver of coldness, which caught her off-guard.
The apprehension got severer at the bottom of her heart at the moment.
She already felt a little regretful. But then when she thought of her missing father and her miserable mother, she gritted her teeth and edged a little closer to him.
Mu heaved a sigh.
She looked up at him, who, arrogant and indifferent during the day, now showed full of exhaustion under the moonlight.
His pair of deep eyes, fell on her eyes but went into her heart.
She knew he was a bad guy. But an inexplicable force from him was somehow working on her.
Knowing that he could not persuade the girl to leave tonight, Mu turned off the lights and gently went onto the bed.
Ye felt even more uncertainty around the darkness, with her inner fear gradually magnified.
The words burst out from her mouth at last, “Uncle, can we keep the lights on? I … I’m afraid of the darkness …”
Mu rolled over and held her into his arms.
Ye froze in an instant. The way she behaved in that she wanted to move but dared not amused him quite much.
“Why do you come to me when you’re clearly so afraid of me?”
Ye swallowed.
“I’m not afraid of you. It’s the darkness.”
Without saying anything more, Mu hugged her in his arms more tightly.
She smelt so good.
“Good night.”
His hoarse voice went through heavy moonlight, and sent a wisp of warm breath around her ears.
She was a little stunned.
Just holding her like this and nothing else?
But she only whispered to herself in mind and dared not say a word.
Slowly, his breathing became steady.
Her heartbeat also calmed down.
“Uncle.”
In the stillness of the night, she could not help but ask a last question before he went fully asleep.
“You’ll help me, right?”
Holding the girl in his arms, Mu answered gently.
“Hmm.”
Now he didn’t even know whether he had promised her in his dream or consciousness.
