Heaven Can Wait - Chapter 116
That night was painful and long for Caroline as she kept tossing and turning on the bed. The sheets and the pillow covers had become the witness to her insanity.
She wanted to get down from the bed and walk up to him, hold him from behind as he stood there, gazing out from the window, but she just couldn’t muster up the courage to do so. Minutes became hours, and she couldn’t understand how they became so distant.
Lying listless on the bed, she had no idea when she fell in the embrace of sleep.
The next morning, when she opened her eyes, she found a breakfast trolley next to her bed. Propping herself up, she sat on the bed and looked around.
“Did he leave me again?” With her heart in her mouth, she dashed towards the door, but he walked in instead. She head on bumped against him, but he grabbed her before she could fall.
“Where did you go?”
“I was just filling up the tank.” He replied and flashed the car keys.
