Heaven Can Wait - Chapter 164
On their flight back to Seattle, a tired and torn Caroline wasn’t able to speak a word. The tears in her eyes had dried completely and so had her throat.
Sitting in the window seat, she kept looking at the clouds which looked like cotton candies floating in the endless blue sky.
The seat belt sign was switched on and an announcement was made in PA regrading the landing initiation, but she seemed oblivious to any of it.
“Caroline!”
“Caroline! Seat belt!”
“Oh yeah! Sorry.” She muttered as she could feel his arms around her waist. Pulling the straps from her side, he buckled her first and then strapped himself.
She retired back to the silent retreat, and closed her eyes. It wasn’t that she was scared, she was so scared that she was unable to feel any fear. She had become numb, impermeable to any emotions. The only thing that she could do was to just breathe and let the time slip away from her hands.
