Hellhunters Neo - Chapter 16 Sewers
Edin was frozen solid when something exploded next to him. It woke him from his frozen slumber as he started falling. The part of the building was falling down that it had cracked the ice trapping him in. If it wasn’t for his magical abilities he probably would have been dead by now. He closed his eyes as he felt the chunk of ice spinning as it fell towards the ground. Once he hit the ground the crack became more defined. Edin looked at the ground under him before it shot up launching him into the air. He slipped past the barrier of the northern shelter slamming hard against the ground. He howled out in pain laying flat on the ground. many of the humans rushed over wrapping him in a warm blanket. A few had minor magic abilities and were healing the wounds they could.
after a while, Edin was able to stand on his own two feet again. He kept the blanket wrapped around him as the cold wasn’t full out of his system. It was when someone spoke up did he turn around to see someone both familiar but different. It took him a moment before clicking to who he was looking at. This was the real Saku, the leader of the hell hunters. Edin had to shake the pain from his head because with his lost memories it was hard to pull much from it. He tried his best to force some of the memories.
The memory that did come was him talking to Saku with a tablet in his hand. “Saku these seals… They were meant to keep you in check in case you lost control. they are linked to Riku… In order to break free from them, you need to shock the ones inside Riku. If you are not careful tho you could become something completely different with how deep these seals are inside your mind.” Saku sat forwards in his chair before nodding. “Then I guess I will have to do what is best for my Ire,” Saku said before getting up to leave.
Edin groaned a little before hearing his orders from Saku. He wanted to decline the mission due to the damage he had already taken. Saku noticed the reaction from Edin it seemed like. He stepped forwards guiding Edin off to a corner to speak to him. “Edin…. you seem lost… I assume that its true then you lost your memories after I left. Look I believe the mage who helped me is still in there. You got to be confident in yourself. I mean look at me I turned out okay after you helped me. If I could become this with your help imagine what you can do yourself.” He said before patting his back. Saku wanted to say more but he was afraid of damaging Edin’s mind more than it already was. Saku simply pulled out a box from his pocket pushing it into Edin’s hand. “When you’re ready we will go together and fix what you lost,” Saku said before walking off to go check on Riku’s condition.
Edin was going to open the box but stopped as something seemed like it was clutching his heart. He stuffed the box into his coat before nodding. He walked out of the shelter barrier looking toward the west end of the city. He quickly formed a wind seal in the air before jumping onto a disk made of wind. It lifted him up into the air before flying towards the sewer plant. As he traveled he could see the carnage created by the rampaging demons. As he passed the last line of buildings that led to the houses near the sewer plant did he come to a stop. The building the was originally the there was nothing but rubble. The plant was destroyed making it impossible to activate the defenses. Out of one corner was the opening that demons had made coming out of the sewers. There were a few demons fighting over who would control the opening.
Edin formed an orb of wind in his hand tossing it towards the three demons who were locked in combat. As the three moved to charge one another the orb landed exploding outwards blasting wind through their bodies. They each hit the ground dead as Edin slowly landed at the entrance. He looked down the opening realizing he wouldn’t be able to use wind magically easily in an area designed to keep the wind to a minimal. He sighed heading to walk down when something shook him. Another memory flashed before his mind.
A demon was laying in Edin’s arms coughing up blood. Edin slowly lowed his friend down to the ground as the damage was far beyond healing. “Edin… you stinking human… hee… to think I would be dying in your arms… my friend… Odin… who on hell thought I would lower myself to being your..” he started coughing again before moving his arm out. he grabbed the hilt of his sword dragging it over. He propped it up against his body holding it to Edin. “take…it… I can’t use it anymore… You will take care of it. Please don’t cry… stinking human. I don’t deserve tears… I’m a…” he faded away before he could finish. Before the sword could fall down Edin grabbed the hilt.
As Edin came back to reality it came to his attention that 4 demons had managed to surround him. They laughed as they looked over him their focus on a meal that stood before them. Edin slowly kneeled down placing his hand on the ground. The ground seemed like it turned to water as his hand slowly sank into it. As he pulled his hand up a bastard sword that shined in the sunlight. The sword was made of pure diamond from top to pommel. Edin saw the shock of the demons as they saw the demon relic. This sword was one of the 7 demon relic swords known as Imara. Imara was created from the heart of a demon who was said to have eaten the raw elements of life.
The demons grew angry at the sight of a human holding what was considered a divine relic of demons. They rushed forwards figuring that Edin was too weak to swing the sword. Tho normally Edin would be weak to use any other sword, Imara was different. In his hand, it was like swinging a practice sword that he trained with. His slash came out with a flash of light in a circular motion. The demons didn’t even have a chance at the light glimmered in their eyes blinding them. The blade was so sharp that their guts poured out with ease. All four fell down dead with the one slash.
Edin was a bit surprised he was able to take them all down so easily. He thought for a moment before looking down at the entrance. A bastard sword would be too long to fight within the sewers. Imara seeming like it was reading his mind shrank down to Gladius. Edin nodded before heading down into the sewers as ground formed a small shield on his other arm. It may have not been a strong shield compared to Imara it would at least give him defense.
